To document a Walmart price for a particular ZIP code, select that location, open the exact product page, and capture a screenshot showing the price and enough details to identify the product and offer. Repeat for the other ZIP code, then label each image with its selected location and capture time. A screenshot records what appeared on the page at that moment; it does not establish why a price differed or guarantee the checkout price.
Capture the same product under each ZIP code
- Decide what you are comparing. Distinguish two online product-page views with different ZIP codes from an online price compared with a store price. Walmart says store prices can vary and that its website’s prices and merchandise do not necessarily reflect what is available in stores: Walmart’s price-matching and pricing FAQ.
- Set the location context. Use the ZIP code or store selector currently shown in your Walmart session. The exact controls may vary, so do not assume there is one fixed sequence of buttons. Open the product page after selecting the location.
- Check the offer details. Before capturing, confirm the product name and variant—such as size or model—and note the seller and fulfillment details shown. Keep the displayed price and identifying details in the screenshot where possible.
- Take the screenshot, then repeat. Capture the page for the first ZIP code, change the location context, and capture the same product and variant again. Keep the captures close in time if you want a useful comparison.
- Label each image. Record the selected ZIP code or store and the capture time in the filename or a separate note. For example:
product-12345-2026-10-03-1430.png. This is a practical recordkeeping suggestion, not a Walmart-prescribed evidence procedure.
Take the screenshot on a phone or computer
iPhone and Safari
Use the iPhone’s screenshot controls to capture what is on screen. If the product details extend beyond the visible area, Safari supports a full-page screenshot for eligible pages: take the screenshot, open its preview, and choose the full-page option when it appears. Apple documents the feature in its iPhone screenshot instructions. A full-page capture can include more context, but check that the price and location details you need are actually present in the saved image.

Use Snipping Tool to capture the relevant browser area. If retaining a link with the capture matters, Microsoft documents saving a browser snip as HTML so the URL can appear beneath the snip. See Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions for the available options.

Walmart says its app includes a scanner to check item prices and offers, and its store map can show item locations and let shoppers check a price for a selected store. Those app features can help you check a store context, but an app result is not proof that a shelf label or checkout price will be identical. Keep the source of each capture clear: website product page, app result, or in-store price.

Make the comparison fair and interpretable
When reviewing two screenshots, compare like with like rather than treating the ZIP code as the only changed factor. Check that the images show the same product variant, seller, fulfillment type, and type of offer, and note the selected ZIP code or store and capture time. If one image is an online offer and the other is an in-store price, say so explicitly.
Describe the result narrowly: “At the time captured, the page showed [price] for [product and variant] with [ZIP code or store] selected.” The image documents the displayed page, not the reason for a difference, a later price, or the amount that will be charged at checkout. Walmart’s published price-matching exclusions include online prices, Marketplace or third-party seller offers, and store prices; a screenshot does not make those offers interchangeable. What Walmart says about location and price differences
Walmart says stores may have different prices because each store manages its own inventory, citing factors such as overstock clearance, in-store sales, and competition from local merchants. It also says website merchandise and prices do not necessarily match those available in stores. These statements support keeping online and in-store observations separate; they do not identify the reason a particular product’s online price changed after a ZIP code change.

Walmart’s current pricing explanation says its prices are not based on an individual’s browsing history, purchase history, device information, location, or shopping behavior, and identifies business factors including costs, competition, inventory levels, geography, and seasonality. That is Walmart’s stated position, not independent verification. In a September 25, 2026 letter, CEO John Furner wrote, “We price the product, not the person,” and said prices may change when Walmart can pass savings along or when the costs of buying or transporting an item change. Neither statement determines the cause of a specific price change.

If a store shelf price differs from checkout
Keep the item and store details, and contact local store management about the discrepancy. Walmart’s FAQ directs price-policy questions to the local store. Do not assume an online price must be matched to a store price; Walmart’s published exclusions distinguish those offer types.
