Use your bank’s official website or app, capture the smallest screen area that still explains the problem, check the image and your ticket text for sensitive information, then submit it through the bank’s official support route. Save the acknowledgement or reference number. Attachment rules differ by bank, so follow the instructions on the form you are using.
Before you capture: protect account information
A screenshot can help explain an error or an unexpected page, but it should include enough surrounding context to make the issue understandable without exposing unrelated account details. Do not include passwords, PINs, CVVs, OTPs, or full payment-card details. Check both the image and the ticket description before submitting.

Indian Bank’s complaint form specifically warns: “Do not provide any Sensitive Details in Complaint Description above for e.g. Complete Card Number, PIN, CVV, Login Id and Passwords etc.” That is Indian Bank’s instruction for its form, not a quoted policy for every bank. Its form also asks for account and transaction information in designated fields; provide only what the form requests and keep secrets out of free-text fields.
Capture the relevant screen
Windows 10 or 11
- Press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open Snipping Tool.
- Choose a capture mode and select the relevant region, window, or screen. A selected region usually exposes less unrelated information; use a wider capture only if more context is needed.
- Review the snip, then save it with Ctrl + S or use the available edit and share options.

Press and quickly release the side button and volume-up button at the same time. Tap the screenshot preview to edit or share it, or save it for attaching later. Button combinations differ on other iPhone models. Apple also documents full-page capture for webpages in Safari; use it only if a full-page record is needed and does not expose unrelated information. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot instructions.
Review the image and submit the ticket
- Open the saved image at a readable size. Confirm that the error, relevant page context, and any date or time needed to understand the issue are legible.
- Crop or cover unrelated personal information if necessary. Check the final saved attachment itself before sending; editing or annotation is not proof that sensitive information has been removed from every version.
- Open the bank’s official website or app yourself and navigate to its customer-support or grievance section. Avoid relying on an unexpected message link when handling a banking issue.
- Follow the current instructions on that bank’s form. If it offers a file attachment control, select the reviewed image. Do not assume all Indian banks accept the same file types or impose the same size limit.
- Submit the ticket and save its acknowledgement, confirmation page, or reference number. Use the bank’s tracking channel if it provides one.
For example, Indian Bank’s complaint form includes a “Select File” control, and its grievance portal describes lodging and tracking complaints. These are examples of that bank’s workflow, not rules for other banks.

If the issue needs escalation
A support ticket on a bank website is not itself a complaint filed with the RBI Ombudsman. The Department of Financial Services advises customers to approach the concerned organization first; the Department of Financial Services grievance information explains that route. For complaints against regulated entities and supporting documents, check the current instructions on the Reserve Bank of India website and the applicable bank process before escalating.
