After signing in and opening the article, use your phone’s built-in screenshot controls. On most Android phones, press Power and Volume Down together; on an iPhone, the buttons depend on whether it has Face ID or Touch ID. Some magazine apps block screenshots. If that happens, ask the publisher about approved ways to save or annotate the article instead of trying to bypass the restriction.
Take a screenshot on Android
- Sign in to the magazine’s official app or website and open the article.
- Press the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. On some phones, you can instead press and hold Power, then tap Screenshot. Button behavior can vary by manufacturer; check the phone maker’s support instructions if these controls do not work. Google’s Android screenshot instructions describe these options.
- Tap the screenshot preview to crop, edit or share the image. On Android 12 and later, scrolling screenshots are available on most screens that allow scrolling, but support is not guaranteed inside a particular magazine app. Google’s Android Help page explains the feature.
Take a screenshot on iPhone
- Sign in to the magazine’s official app or website and open the article.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side and Volume Up buttons together. On an iPhone with Touch ID, quickly press and release the Side and Home buttons together.
- Tap the preview to crop, annotate, save or share. Screenshots save to Photos by default. Apple’s iPhone guide covers these controls.
Capture a longer article
Android scrolling screenshot
After taking a screenshot, use the scrolling-capture option if it appears. Google says this is available on Android 12 and later for most screens that allow scrolling. It may not appear in every reader app, and a protected view may prevent capture entirely. Check Google’s instructions for the general process.

Safari full-page screenshot on iPhone
For a webpage open in Safari, take a screenshot and select the Full Page option in the preview. Apple documents saving a supported full-page capture as an image or PDF. This is a Safari webpage feature; do not assume it works inside every magazine app or protected reading view. Apple’s guide describes the available options.

A blank image or a message that screenshots are disabled can mean the app intentionally protects its content. Android apps can use the secure display flag FLAG_SECURE to prevent protected content from appearing in screenshots or non-secure displays. Google Play policy says apps must respect this protection and not facilitate workarounds. Google Play’s policy explains the requirement. Do not use a bypass tool; contact the publisher and ask whether it offers an approved download, clipping, annotation or offline-reading option.

Reading access is not the same as permission to share
Being signed in as a subscriber lets you read under that service’s subscription terms; it does not automatically give you permission to distribute or republish a screenshot. Check the terms for the specific magazine before sharing an image. Publishers set different conditions: for example, The Indian Express terms address certain non-personal or non-commercial printouts and downloads, while Journal Press India’s terms describe conditions for personal screenshots and restrictions on copying or redistribution. Vogue India’s terms identify ownership of its digital-magazine content. These are examples, not universal rules for Indian magazines.
