Open Control Center on the iPhone, tap Screen Mirroring, and pick the TV. If the TV shows an AirPlay passcode, enter it on the iPhone. The catch is that not every TCL TV has AirPlay, so the TV’s exact model matters.
Steps to mirror an iPhone to a TCL TV
- Connect the iPhone and the TCL TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Control Center on the iPhone. On iPhone X or later, swipe down from the upper-right corner. On iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge.
- Tap Screen Mirroring and choose your TCL TV from the list.
- If the TV displays an AirPlay passcode, type it on the iPhone.
- To stop, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then tap Stop Mirroring.
On TCL Roku TVs that support AirPlay, TCL’s user guide places the AirPlay options under Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit. That path comes from the Roku interface. Menu wording can differ on other models and software versions.

Check that your TCL model supports AirPlay
Apple says mirroring to a smart TV requires an AirPlay-compatible TV. If your TCL is missing from the Screen Mirroring list, check compatibility before anything else. TCL’s own materials show that support varies:
- TCL Roku TVs: TCL’s guide says AirPlay 2 and HomeKit are supported except on Roku TV models whose numbers begin with “6” or “5.” To find your model number, look for the Hardware ID under Settings > About. This exclusion applies to the lineup that guide covers. Do not assume it holds for other TCL families.
- TCL Google TV: TCL’s Sweden FAQ describes AirPlay on selected 2022 Google TV C7/C8/C9 models.
- Individual models: TCL’s C765 product page says that model supports AirPlay 2.
These examples show that support depends on model, platform, region and software. They don’t settle the question for every TCL TV. Check the user guide or product page for your exact model and country.

TCL’s Roku guide also states: “To use AirPlay, your Roku TV must be on the same wireless network as your Apple device.”
If the TV doesn’t appear or the connection fails
- Confirm AirPlay is available on your exact TCL model and turned on in the TV’s settings.
- Make sure both devices are on, close together, updated, and on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart the iPhone and the TV. Apple lists restarting as a troubleshooting step.
- If the TV is set up in the Apple Home app, check whether the Home settings restrict AirPlay access.
- If you use a VPN on the iPhone, check whether its configuration blocks local network traffic. Apple advises this check because it can interfere with some Apple device-to-device features.
Mirroring versus sending a video to the TV
Screen Mirroring shows whatever is on the iPhone display. Many video apps instead have their own AirPlay button, which sends just the video to the TV. Apple notes that some video apps don’t support AirPlay. If yours doesn’t, Apple suggests checking whether that app is available on Apple TV.

If your TCL has no AirPlay: an Apple TV 4K
Apple lists Apple TV 4K as a screen-mirroring destination. If your TCL model lacks AirPlay, connecting an Apple TV 4K to it is a possible fallback. That is an inference from Apple’s list of supported destinations. It isn’t a TCL-specific recommendation, and it isn’t needed on a TV that already has AirPlay. Before buying, confirm your TV’s model and that it has a free input for the device.
