To schedule Threads with Buffer, connect a public Threads profile linked to Instagram, choose the Threads channel in Buffer’s web composer, write your post, then select a queue slot or a specific date and time. Buffer also supports multi-post Threads on the web. Scheduling helps you plan and publish consistently; it does not guarantee community growth.
Before connecting Threads to Buffer
Buffer’s current Help Center says Threads scheduling is available on its new plans. Your Threads profile must be public and linked to an Instagram account. If several Threads profiles use the same Meta login, Buffer connects the profile active in your browser session; it does not show a list of all profiles to choose from. - Log out of Threads and Instagram in your browser.
- Sign in to the Instagram account linked to the Threads profile you want to connect.
- Sign in to Threads through Instagram so the intended profile is active.
- In Buffer, connect that Threads channel and confirm the correct profile is shown.
If the wrong profile connects, log out of the Meta accounts, make the intended profile active using the steps above, and connect again. Legacy Buffer customers should contact Buffer about availability on their account.

How to schedule a single Threads post
- Open Buffer’s web composer and select your Threads channel.
- Draft the post, then use the preview to check how its text and link will appear.
- Choose a publishing action: Next Available, Prioritize, Set Date and Time, or Now.
Buffer’s scheduling guide defines Next Available as the next open queue slot, Prioritize as moving a post to the top of the queue, Set Date and Time as choosing a particular publishing time, and Now as publishing immediately. Next Available and Prioritize require posting times to be set for every selected channel. If you need a post to go out at a particular moment, use Set Date and Time rather than relying on the queue.

How to schedule a multi-post Thread
In Buffer’s web composer, select Threads, draft the opening post, then choose Start Thread and add each subsequent post. Preview the sequence and schedule it using one of the same publishing actions used for a single post. Buffer says multi-post Threads are currently web-only; they cannot be created or scheduled in Buffer’s mobile app.
A Thread can contain up to 25 posts. Each post counts toward Threads’ reported limit of 250 posts per 24-hour period, so a 10-post Thread uses 10 of those posts. Buffer’s Free plan permits one threaded post scheduled at a time per queue; you can save unscheduled threaded drafts. Multi-post Threads are listed as available on Free, Essentials, and Team plans, subject to that Free queue limit.

Choose a queue slot or a fixed time

Queue placement is a workflow choice, not a reach strategy: Buffer’s documentation describes publishing controls, not a growth result from choosing one option.
Check the post’s formatting and limits
- Text length: Each message supports up to 500 characters as counted in UTF-8 bytes. Some accented characters, non-Latin characters, and emoji use more than one byte, so the usable visible-character count can be lower than 500.
- Links: A post can contain up to five links, and repeated links count separately. In a text-only post, Buffer configures the first link as the link attachment and displays its preview.
- Topics: A post supports one hashtag/topic, up to 50 characters according to Buffer’s guide. The first hashtag is converted to a topic; later hashtags remain plain text.
- Thread size and daily activity: A multi-post Thread can have up to 25 posts, and each post counts toward Threads’ reported 250-post-per-24-hour limit.
These are the limits described in Buffer’s current documentation and may change. Review the live guide before relying on them for a campaign.

Pick a Buffer plan for your workflow
Buffer’s current pricing page lists Free, Essentials, and Team plans. It was last updated in November 2025, so use the live pricing page for current prices and entitlements rather than relying on an old quoted rate.

What Buffer supports for Threads
Buffer’s Help Center lists publishing, analytics, and engagement for Threads. The same current documentation says scheduled quotes and reposts, polls, and alt text are unsupported. Feature availability can change; check Buffer’s Threads guide when planning around one of these formats.

Follower and demographic data is available only for a Threads profile linked to an Instagram account with at least 100 followers. Those follower and demographic figures are today-only and are not backfilled, so they are not a historical record for newly connected accounts.

Why scheduling is only one part of growing a community
Scheduling can help keep publishing organized and make it easier to plan a conversation across several posts. It does not establish that a schedule itself will increase followers or engagement. Use the analytics available to understand how posts are performing, and pair planned publishing with relevant, useful contributions and actual interaction with your community.
When Buffer launched its Threads integration on June 25, 2024, founder and CEO Joel Gascoigne said, “I’m thrilled to share that you can now use Threads within your Buffer account.” In that announcement, Buffer also reported that the decision followed more than 7,000 feature requests; that is a historical, company-reported request count, not a current demand measure.
