ScreenshotOne does not document a built-in recurring schedule or cron setting. To capture websites on a cadence, run its /take API endpoint from an external scheduler or workflow, then store or forward each result. This guide covers a code-based job, no-code options, delivery, retention, reliability, and how to size the schedule.
How recurring ScreenshotOne captures work
Set the cadence outside ScreenshotOne: a cron job, scheduled task, or automation workflow makes an HTTPS request to https://api.screenshotone.com/take on each run. Supply the target url, your access key, and any capture options. The endpoint supports GET and POST; POST accepts JSON and is more suitable for large HTML or Markdown input. See the ScreenshotOne API documentation for request parameters and response formats.

A typical flow is to choose the schedule and target URLs, build and validate the request, have the scheduler call it, then save or forward the result. The response may contain image data or another configured format. If you need an archive, write each run to a timestamped or otherwise unique destination; overwriting one filename preserves only the latest capture.

Choose capture options before scheduling
Decide what each run should capture and where it will be saved. For a full-page image, set full_page=true. Set viewport width and height to match the intended record or visual comparison. The documented default wait event is load, and the default delay is zero. If content appears late, choose an appropriate wait_until event, wait for a selector, or add a delay. Validate these settings against representative pages before relying on unattended runs: ScreenshotOne warns that full-page capture does not work on every page.

Run it from a scheduler
Use your scheduler’s secure secret store for the access key rather than putting it in a public script or source repository. Configure the scheduled task to make an HTTPS request to the endpoint with the target URL, access key, and chosen options. The exact cron syntax and secret-management steps depend on the scheduler you use; ScreenshotOne’s API documentation describes the request itself.
For synchronous requests, handle the response within the scheduler’s execution window and write the resulting image or configured output to durable storage. Use a unique object key or filename per run, such as one incorporating the target and capture time. The destination naming scheme is your workflow’s responsibility, not a ScreenshotOne archive feature.

Zapier
ScreenshotOne’s Zapier documentation describes triggering captures in automated workflows and passing results to other apps. The guide warns that Zapier has a 30-second execution limit; for runs that risk timing out, it recommends asynchronous requests and webhooks.
Make
Check ScreenshotOne’s Make guide and its integration page for current availability and actions. The guide says there was no official integration when it was written, while the marketing page lists Make and the guide discusses community-supported or other methods. Do not assume a particular native connector or action is available without checking the current interface.

Deliver results from longer-running captures
If a capture may outlast the caller’s time limit, use an asynchronous request with async=true and provide a webhook_url. ScreenshotOne can send completion information to that URL. Its webhook documentation explains signed requests: validate the X-ScreenshotOne-Signature using the secret signing key and HMAC SHA-256. Set webhook_errors=true if the workflow needs error details in webhook payloads or headers.
Make the receiving workflow idempotent where possible, so a repeated notification does not accidentally create duplicate downstream records. Log the scheduled time, target URL, response or webhook outcome, and any error or retry status; this makes missed runs and delivery problems diagnosable.

Retain screenshots for the life of the archive
Do not treat a temporary ScreenshotOne screenshot URL as permanent storage. ScreenshotOne documents that temporary URLs are available for a maximum of four hours unless caching is configured with a longer TTL. For long-term retention, it recommends compatible S3 storage; see its storage documentation. Ensure your workflow copies or stores each result before its temporary URL expires, and retain a timestamp or other run identifier with the file.

For a list of targets, put capture tasks in a queue and process them in controlled batches. ScreenshotOne describes /bulk as a wrapper around its regular endpoints and notes that a custom bulk solution may be preferable. See the bulk guide and usage endpoint documentation. The usage endpoint exposes concurrency.remaining and concurrency.reset, which help you respect the current one-minute request bucket.

Avoid launching an unbounded burst at the scheduled minute. Use bounded retries for transient failures, and record which targets succeeded so retries do not unnecessarily repeat completed work. A queue also makes it easier to spread a large capture set across time while keeping within the available request capacity.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Estimate capacity and monthly cost
Estimate monthly volume as the number of target URLs multiplied by scheduled runs per month, then allow headroom for testing and retries. Also check request-rate capacity: a large set launched at once can hit a per-minute request limit even when monthly volume is low.
| Plan listed on ScreenshotOne pricing page | Monthly screenshots | Requests per minute | Price listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 100 | Not stated on the pricing page | Free |
| Basic | 2,000 | 40 | $17 per month |
| Growth | 10,000 | 80 | $79 per month |
| Scale | 50,000 | 150 | $259 per month |
These plan figures are from ScreenshotOne’s pricing page as accessed October 3, 2026; pricing and quotas can change, so confirm the current pricing page before choosing a plan. The page says successful non-cached screenshots count toward quotas and displays overage rates by plan.
Troubleshoot missed or incomplete captures
- The scheduled request times out: The capture or workflow may exceed the caller’s execution window. Use
async=truewith a webhook for longer jobs; this is especially relevant for Zapier’s documented 30-second limit. - Dynamic content is missing: The default wait event is
loadand default delay is zero. Use a selector wait, a suitablewait_untilvalue, or a delay, then test it on the actual page. - A full-page image is incomplete or fails: Full-page capture may not work for every page. Test a representative page before scheduling broadly and consider whether a viewport capture better serves the requirement.
- Some URLs fail during a batch: Queue targets, track results individually, and use bounded retries instead of retrying the entire batch without limits.
- Results disappear from stored links: Temporary screenshot URLs are not a durable archive. Store the output in compatible S3 storage or another durable destination before temporary availability expires.
- Requests exceed capacity: Consult
concurrency.remainingandconcurrency.resetfrom the usage endpoint, reduce batch concurrency, or spread scheduled work across time.

ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot API and an MCP server for AI agents. It accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status.
For a recurring workflow, call the endpoint from your scheduler on the cadence you need. Example with cURL (see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free for ScreenshotNeo.
