The scheduled broadcast creates the event and watch page; a separate encoder or production system must send the cartoon program feed. For a few slots, prepare each lineup and select it before the broadcast. For an unattended, always-on feed, use a playout workflow that you have verified can switch media on your timetable.
What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do
A YouTube playlist is a collection of uploaded videos; a scheduled live broadcast is an event receiving a live feed. You can schedule the event, publish its watch page, reuse settings, and let viewers set reminders. But YouTube’s scheduling documentation does not describe a native weekday/weekend setting that automatically replaces the live feed with different YouTube playlists. Adding videos to channel playlists will not make them play as a timed live channel.

You therefore need two parts: YouTube Studio to schedule the events, and an encoder or production workflow to transmit the intended lineup. The YouTube Live Streaming API can manage scheduled broadcasts and lifecycle settings, but that does not establish that the API itself chooses playlist items or runs media playout.
Choose how the weekday and weekend feed will run
Manual switching for a small number of broadcasts
Schedule the weekday and weekend events separately. Before each event, load or prepare the correct cartoon lineup in your encoder or production system, then send that feed to the scheduled YouTube broadcast. This involves recurring setup and monitoring, but avoids building automation you may not need.

Unattended switching
If the feed must change without an operator, evaluate a playout system or a custom integration. Verify that it can schedule and switch the actual media feed by day, preserve the required episode order and time zone, and deliver that feed to YouTube Live. A tool that only creates YouTube events is not sufficient. Check its recovery behavior, compatibility, support, and current price before relying on it; capabilities and terms of any particular third-party service are not established here.
Schedule the two broadcasts in YouTube Studio
- Enable live streaming. Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Create the weekday event. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream. Set the date and time, title, description, privacy, and audience designation for the weekday broadcast.
- Create the weekend event. Repeat the process for the weekend broadcast, using its own dates, times, and accurate schedule details. Reuse settings from a prior event where appropriate, but verify the audience and metadata for each event.
- Prepare the corresponding program feed. In your encoder or production system, select the weekday or weekend lineup and connect using the YouTube stream URL and stream key as YouTube directs. Treat the stream key like a password: do not post it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.
- Check the event and feed together. Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room, start sending the feed, and verify the preview shows the intended episodes, video, and audio. YouTube recommends setting up encoders at least two hours ahead and starting them at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
- Decide how the stream ends. Plan the end of each broadcast and whether its archive should remain public. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; longer streams may not be archived.
- Publish the schedule clearly. State the days, times, and time zone on the channel or event descriptions. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable schedule and communicating changes to viewers.
Rights and audience settings matter for cartoons
Clear live-stream rights for every episode
Only include cartoons you are authorized to stream live. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it identifies content, a placeholder may replace the stream; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption: YouTube advises licensed creators to ask the rights holder to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Check that your agreement covers live streaming and the relevant territory and duration; YouTube’s platform guidance does not determine the scope of your contract.
See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSet the audience designation accurately
Do not label a stream made for kids—or not made for kids—based only on the fact that it is a cartoon. Make the designation based on the content and intended audience. YouTube lists live chat and reminder notifications among features disabled for made-for-kids live streams, and personalized ads are disabled. Check the current audience setting before advertising those features to viewers.

Keep playlist titles and descriptions accurate
YouTube’s playlist rules apply to the collection and how it is presented. A playlist may violate Community Guidelines if its title or description misleads viewers about its videos, or if videos are collected in a prohibited way. Label the weekday and weekend lineups honestly.

For a YouTube channel that should keep playing uploaded videos while your home computer is off, StreamNeo runs the feed from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not go live from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only. For different weekday and weekend lineups, confirm that the workflow you choose supports your required schedule and media switching; do not assume that scheduling YouTube events alone performs that switch.

Troubleshoot a missing or incorrect program feed
- The event is scheduled, but viewers see no program: Scheduling creates the event page, not the feed. Start the encoder or production system and check that it is sending to the event’s stream URL and key.
- The wrong cartoons appear: Check which lineup is loaded in the playout system before the event. Studio’s scheduled-event settings do not select a YouTube playlist as the live feed.
- The preview is absent or incorrect: Confirm the encoder connection details and selected media, then inspect the Live Control Room preview before the scheduled start.
- A licensed episode is replaced or the stream is interrupted: Check the rights for live use and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- Viewers cannot use chat or set reminders: Check whether the stream is designated made for kids; YouTube disables or restricts features including live chat and reminder notifications for those streams.
- The archive is missing: Check the stream duration. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; longer streams may not be archived.
