Schedule the public event in YouTube Studio, configure OBS to send its stream to that event, then use Advanced Scene Switcher to schedule the OBS-side actions that control playlist playback. These are separate jobs: the plugin schedules actions inside OBS; it does not create or publish the YouTube event. Plan to check YouTube’s preview and complete its Go live step unless you have deliberately configured and tested the event’s auto-start behavior.
What you are scheduling—and where
YouTube Studio controls the scheduled live event: its time, public watch page and stream destination. OBS is the encoder that sends video and audio to that event. Advanced Scene Switcher automates actions within OBS, such as actions based on date and time or media playback. You need to coordinate all three rather than expect one schedule to control the entire workflow.

Check compatibility and prepare the playlist
Confirm the plugin and OBS versions
The OBS resource listing reports Advanced Scene Switcher 1.36.1, updated August 7, 2026, with OBS Studio 31.1.1 as the minimum and Windows, macOS and Linux support. Releases and compatibility requirements can change, so check the listing against your installed OBS version before installing or updating. The plugin’s update history says version 1.34.0 added a Macro Schedule tab for scheduling macro actions at a date and time; back up plugin settings before changing an established setup. Build and check your OBS media setup
Add the scenes and media sources you intend to use for the playlist, then determine which actions should occur and when. Advanced Scene Switcher documents date/time conditions and media-related conditions and actions, but the exact macro depends on your source type and desired sequence. There is no universal, verified macro recipe for every playlist arrangement, so configure and rehearse the specific setup you use rather than relying on a generic macro as a guaranteed solution.
Schedule the YouTube event and connect OBS
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, choose Manage, and schedule a stream. You can create a new event or reuse settings. Check the event’s date, time and visibility before saving.
- Copy the event’s connection details: Open that event’s settings and copy its stream URL and stream key. In OBS, enter those details in the stream configuration so the encoder feed is sent to the scheduled event—not a different stream.
- Protect the stream key: YouTube describes the key as the information that lets the encoder send the feed to the correct stream. Treat it like a password: do not show it in screenshots or recordings. If it is compromised, use Live Control Room’s reset flow and update OBS with the replacement key. - Check start and stop settings: YouTube documents auto-start and auto-stop options. Decide whether you will use them, and test the exact event and encoder configuration before relying on an unattended start or stop.
Schedule playlist actions in Advanced Scene Switcher
- Open Advanced Scene Switcher in OBS and locate its macro controls. Confirm that your installed version exposes the Macro Schedule tab; the feature was added in version 1.34.0.
- Create or adjust macros using the date/time condition and media-related conditions or actions that fit your scenes and playlist source. Set the intended date and time, then specify the OBS actions needed for the sequence.
- Review the sequence for the behavior you need—for example, which scene or media action should occur at the scheduled time and what should happen as playback progresses. The correct details depend on your source setup; test them rather than assuming the schedule alone will start and publish a YouTube broadcast.
- Save the plugin configuration and rehearse the macros in OBS. Keep a backup of existing settings before making changes to a production setup.
Rehearse and start the broadcast
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours in advance, starting it at least 15 minutes before the event, checking the Live Control Room preview and testing the setup. These are YouTube’s recommendations, not mandatory countdown times for every stream. Consult YouTube’s streaming tips.

- Before the event, run through the planned playlist and macro sequence. Confirm that the intended media appears, audio is present, scene changes behave as expected and the stream key points to the correct scheduled event.
- At least 15 minutes before the scheduled time, start streaming from OBS, following YouTube’s recommended lead time. Check the event’s Live Control Room preview for the incoming feed.
- When the feed is correct, follow YouTube’s documented Go live step. Do not assume that an OBS macro starting playback has also published the event. If you intend to use YouTube auto-start, verify that the configured event starts as expected during rehearsal.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That documented behavior should not be treated as a guarantee for longer unattended playlist broadcasts. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
Troubleshooting the scheduled stream

Keep the playlist rights-safe
Scheduling a live stream does not establish that you have the rights to its music, video or other material. Before broadcasting, check the permissions and applicable YouTube rules for every item in the playlist; using a scheduled event or an automated playback macro does not resolve copyright issues. Use the copyright safety checklist as a practical pre-stream check.
