To schedule a prerecorded video as a YouTube livestream through XSplit Broadcaster, first schedule a live event in YouTube Studio, then select that event in XSplit and start broadcasting. Scheduling the event does not, by itself, schedule or start playback of a local video file. You must separately configure and run your prerecorded media in XSplit; the official event-scheduling instructions cited here do not establish the current steps for doing that.
First, choose the right kind of YouTube schedule
YouTube has two different ways to make content available at a chosen time:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Scheduled livestream: You create a live event in YouTube Studio and send it an encoder feed from XSplit. This suits an appointment-style broadcast with a live event page and live chat.
- Scheduled video publishing: You upload a finished video and schedule when YouTube will publish it. This makes the video public later; it is not an encoder livestream.
If your goal is simply to publish a finished video at a particular time, use YouTube’s scheduled publishing workflow instead. For an event-style stream, follow the livestream setup below. YouTube’s and XSplit’s instructions cover creating and connecting the event, but do not confirm that XSplit’s event scheduler automatically plays a prerecorded file.
Check channel eligibility before scheduling
XSplit Support says the YouTube channel should be verified and should have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If you are enabling YouTube Live for the first time, XSplit says approval may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance also identifies verification and the restriction lookback as eligibility checks. XSplit’s YouTube Live guidance was updated October 11, 2025; its scheduled-stream guide displays an update date of November 8, 2022, so labels may differ in newer releases.

Schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose Schedule Stream.
- Enter the stream details, configure customization and visibility, and set the date and time.
- Finish the setup and keep the resulting stream setup page available. This is the event you will select in XSplit.
Creating this event reserves the YouTube livestream appointment; it does not supply video or start the encoder feed.
Connect XSplit Broadcaster to the scheduled event
- In XSplit Broadcaster, open Broadcast and choose the existing YouTube Live output.
- In Broadcast Details, select the event you created from Live Event List. The event information should populate the dialog.
- Check the Manual Transition setting before starting. With the documented default, checked setting, XSplit can send the encoder feed without making the YouTube event live; you must then select Go Live in YouTube Studio. If you uncheck Manual Transition, starting the XSplit broadcast starts the YouTube stream automatically.
- Click Start Broadcast in XSplit. If Manual Transition is checked, open YouTube Studio and use Go Live when you are ready to make the event live.
These steps connect XSplit’s broadcast output to the scheduled event. They do not explain how to add, configure, or loop a local prerecorded file. Do not assume the event scheduler handles file playback: consult the current XSplit media-source documentation for those controls and verify playback in advance.

Prepare and test before the scheduled start
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. In the Live Control Room, inspect the preview before going live, confirm the stream is accessible, and check audio and video quality. YouTube also recommends a test livestream for new users and notes that expensive equipment is not necessary. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Confirm you selected the intended scheduled event in XSplit’s Live Event List.
- Check that the video and audio sources you intend to broadcast are present and playing. The specific file-playback controls are not established by the event-scheduling instructions.
- Use the YouTube preview to catch missing video, silent audio, or an inaccessible feed before the event.
- Decide whether you want the manual YouTube Go Live confirmation or the automatic transition behavior before the broadcast begins.
Schedule an uploaded video to publish later
If you do not need an encoder-driven event, upload the finished video in YouTube Studio, choose the Schedule card, set the publication date, time, and time zone, then select Schedule. This publishes the uploaded video at the chosen time; it does not create an XSplit livestream. YouTube documents this workflow in its scheduled video publishing instructions.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
The channel cannot go live
Check that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first YouTube Live activation, allow up to 24 hours for approval, as stated by XSplit Support.
The scheduled event does not appear in XSplit
Make sure you created the event in YouTube Studio before opening the XSplit broadcast details, and that you selected the YouTube Live output. Reopen or refresh the event selection and confirm you are choosing the intended event.

The event is live, but the prerecorded video is not playing
Event scheduling and media playback are separate tasks. Confirm that the correct media source is configured and playing in XSplit, using current XSplit instructions for the version you have. The event-scheduling documentation alone does not establish the exact file-source or looping controls.
