To save webpage screenshots in Google Drive with Zapier, connect a screenshot action to Google Drive’s Upload File action. Map the screenshot file—not just a page URL—to the upload, then choose a folder and filename. First choose a Zap trigger that supplies the target URL, such as a schedule or a screenshot-change event.
Build the Zap: capture first, upload second
- Choose a trigger. For recurring captures, use Schedule by Zapier or a screenshot provider’s recurring feature. For a page-change workflow, use a provider trigger such as a new screenshot or change notification, if available in your connected account.
- Add a screenshot action. Select a provider’s webpage capture action and map the page address into its required URL field. Set full-page capture, viewport or width, and any necessary wait or page-specific options.
- Add Google Drive’s Upload File action. Map the screenshot step’s file output to Drive’s file field. Choose the destination Drive and folder, then set a filename and extension. Zapier’s Drive integration also lists folder and metadata actions for workflows that need more organization.
- Test before publishing. Run the Zap with a representative URL. Confirm the screenshot shows the intended page and state, the output is the intended image or PDF, and the uploaded file opens in the destination folder with the expected name and audience access.
- Publish the Zap. Review the trigger and action mappings, then turn it on. Check an actual run after publishing so you can catch differences between test data and live trigger data.
The screenshot action and Drive upload are separate steps: the first creates or provides the capture; the second copies that file into Drive. Drive’s Zapier integration lists Upload File as an action for copying a file from another service, with destination folder and filename fields. The exact output label and file format depend on the screenshot integration, so select its file output in the Zap editor rather than assuming a URL can be uploaded as a file.

Choose a screenshot action for the page and trigger
Zapier lists multiple screenshot integrations. Select based on the page behavior and the trigger you need, and verify available actions in your connected account; listings do not guarantee a particular account’s eligibility or plan allowance.

These are available choices, not a universal ranking: test the actual site because a page’s scripts, loading behavior, and access controls determine which options are useful. Confirm what the selected action passes to Drive; providers may return different file objects or links.

Set up recurring captures and a useful Drive archive
Choose when the Zap runs
For a regular snapshot, use a schedule trigger or a provider’s recurring screenshot configuration. Zapier also documents an example combining Schedule by Zapier and CustomJS with Google Drive to capture a specified URL daily. For event-driven filing, a PagePixels New Screenshot or New Change Notification trigger can start the workflow when the corresponding event occurs.
Name files so captures remain findable
Use a stable pattern such as site-or-project_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm.ext, replacing the label with a short page or project name and the extension with the actual output format. A timestamp distinguishes repeated snapshots instead of silently obscuring earlier ones. If you want a single current file rather than an archive, design and test the replacement behavior separately; do not assume Upload File will replace an earlier capture.

For larger archives, use a folder-per-project or folder-per-site convention. Zapier’s Drive integration lists Find or Create Folder, and a Zapier template describes finding or creating a Drive folder, uploading a timestamp-named JPG, and updating metadata or access. Use metadata actions only if those properties help people locate or share the captures.
Capture pages that load dynamically or require access
- JavaScript-driven content is missing: Increase the provider’s extra wait or delay, or use its wait-until or selector option if listed. Test on the actual page; a fixed delay that works for one page may not suit another.
- The page is longer than the screenshot: Enable full-page capture where the action offers it. Some integrations also provide scrolling capture or element capture; these are provider-specific rather than universal Zapier settings.
- A page needs a login: Do not assume the integration can safely or reliably bypass it. GetScreenshot labels its bypass-login instruction experimental; PagePixels lists multi-step actions and custom cookies. Confirm that automated access is permitted for the target site, use only credentials and cookies you are authorized to use, and test with the actual page and account.
- The uploaded file is inaccessible to colleagues: Check the Drive destination and sharing settings. An upload completing does not by itself establish that the intended audience can open the file.

Drive receives no usable file
Reopen the Zap’s field mapping and select the screenshot action’s file output for Upload File. If the selected output is only a link or text value, consult that provider’s action fields and choose an output Drive can accept as a file. Run the screenshot step on its own and inspect its test output before testing the upload.

The capture is blank or incomplete
Check that the mapped URL is correct and publicly reachable by the chosen capture service. Add an appropriate wait, use full-page mode when needed, and test any provider-specific selector or scrolling option. If the target blocks automated access or requires authentication, check the provider’s documented capabilities and the site’s rules rather than assuming the Zap can bypass them.
The Zap test succeeds but live runs fail
Inspect the live trigger data and confirm it supplies a URL in the format expected by the screenshot step. Recheck the connected provider and Drive accounts, required fields, and any account-specific plan constraints. Test with a representative event, not only manually entered sample data.

The same capture appears to overwrite or duplicate
Check the filename mapping and whether it includes a timestamp. If you intend to retain history, ensure each run produces a distinct name. If you intend to keep only one current file, verify the chosen Drive workflow’s behavior explicitly before relying on it.
Cost, reliability, and account checks
Zapier integration listings describe available actions and triggers, but they do not establish your account’s current task quota, plan eligibility, or the target website’s permission for automated access. Those details can change. Check the current Zapier and screenshot-provider accounts before relying on a multi-step Zap, recurring schedule, or a particular trigger. The GetScreenshot listing specifically notes a Starter plan for Zaps with three or more steps.

For dependable archives, validate the screenshot and uploaded file during setup, use descriptive unique filenames, and monitor live runs for missing or malformed output. A successful Zap test is not proof that every future page load, site redesign, or authenticated session will produce the same result.
