Confirm you have the right RBI circular
Before saving anything, check the circular’s title, displayed date, reference number or notification reference, and issuing department on the official RBI page. These details help distinguish a circular from other material with a similar title and let colleagues identify the record later.

Keep the page’s URL with the office record, along with the date you retrieved the copy, following your organization’s filing practice. A saved PDF is a copy of the page at that time; consult the official RBI page if you need to check for a later update or correction.

Save the webpage as a PDF
- Open the specific circular on the RBI website. Verify its identifying details before proceeding.
- Open your browser’s print function. Choose its PDF destination, if available. Menu names and locations vary by browser; no particular browser or version is assumed here.
- Inspect the print preview. Look for missing text, clipped tables, awkward page breaks, or navigation elements that make the copy harder to read. If the preview is incomplete, try the RBI-provided file route described below.
- Save the PDF. Choose the destination folder used for office records and give the file a descriptive name.
- Reopen the saved file. Check that the heading, date, reference and required circular content are present and readable. Confirm that any tables or other important layout survived the conversion.
Use a filename that identifies the record
Include enough information to distinguish the circular without relying on a generic name such as document.pdf. For example, use the circular subject plus its reference or date, such as Customer-Service-Master-Circular-2009-07-01.pdf. Adapt the pattern to the details actually shown on the circular and your office’s naming rules.

Check whether RBI offers a downloadable version
Some RBI pages provide a separate file as well as webpage text. If the specific circular page offers one, download it and check that it opens and matches the circular you intend to file. A downloaded file may be preferable when preserving the document’s supplied layout matters more than capturing the webpage presentation.
On its page for Master Circular on Customer Service in banks, dated July 1, 2009, RBI says: “Note : To obtain an aligned printout please download the (699.00 kb ) version to your machine and then use respective software to print the story.” That is an instruction on that particular page, not a guarantee that every RBI circular page offers a downloadable version or the same printing guidance.

Choose the route that suits the record

These routes are not confirmed to be available for every RBI circular. Inspect the page you are filing rather than assuming it has a particular download or print layout.

Troubleshoot an incomplete or hard-to-read copy
- Text or a table is missing in the PDF preview: Do not file the incomplete copy as though it were complete. Check whether the RBI page offers a downloadable version, then open and inspect that file.
- The saved PDF looks different from the preview: Reopen the file and inspect the relevant pages. If content is clipped or unreadable, try the other available route and check the resulting file before filing it.
- You cannot find a PDF destination: Browser labels and available print options vary. Look for the browser’s print function and inspect its destination choices; no specific browser/version shortcut is established here. If the page provides a downloadable file, that is another route.
- The file is difficult to identify later: Rename it using the circular subject and an identifying reference or date, and retain the RBI page URL and retrieval date alongside the record.
