If Save Page WE is already installed and allowed on your school or office computer, open the webpage and click the extension’s toolbar button. Follow the browser’s save prompt, then find the resulting single HTML file in your downloads. If the extension is missing, disabled, or saving is blocked, don’t try to bypass the restriction: ask IT or use an approved browser feature.
What Save Page WE saves
Save Page WE is listed for Chrome and Firefox. Its extension listings describe saving the currently displayed webpage as a single HTML file that can be opened in a browser. The Chrome listing characterizes the result as a highly accurate representation of the original page, but that is not a guarantee that every interactive feature, login state, or remotely hosted resource will work offline.

The saved file is a copy of page content, not a browser bookmark. If the page contains sensitive information, remember that the download is stored on the computer and may be accessible to other users or subject to local device policies.
Save a page with Save Page WE
- Check that the extension is available and permitted. Look for the Save Page WE toolbar button. If it is not visible, check the browser’s extension controls only if your organization allows that. If the extension is absent or disabled by management, ask the school or office administrator whether it is approved; don’t install an unapproved copy.
- Open the page you want to keep. Save Page WE captures the page as it is currently displayed. If the page requires a login or has not finished loading, consider whether you are allowed to save it and wait until the content you need appears.
- Activate Save Page WE. Click its toolbar button and follow the browser’s save or download prompt. The Chrome listing describes two save methods: an older method that remembers the last save location but may fail on some pages, and a newer method that can save pages the older method cannot but does not remember that location. Use the method exposed by your installed version.
- Find the downloaded file. In Chrome, check the download bar or open the browser menu and select Downloads. Open the item from the downloads list to view it in the computer’s default application for that file type.
- Keep it only in an approved location. On a shared or managed computer, follow local rules for downloads and retention. Don’t assume a file in Downloads is private or automatically deleted.
Choose a save method if the extension is unavailable
If you use Firefox and Save Page WE is not available, Firefox’s built-in save feature is one possible fallback. Its “Web page, HTML only” format saves the page without pictures; its text-file format does not preserve the original HTML link structure. These outputs differ from Save Page WE’s listed single-HTML-file capture.

Whether you can use a built-in save option or choose a download folder may depend on your organization’s browser and device policies. Google’s Chrome administrator documentation describes configurable policies, but only your school or employer’s administrator can confirm what is set on your computer.
Open Save Page WE options
- Firefox: right-click the toolbar button, choose Manage Extension, open the three-dot menu, then choose Options.
- Chrome: right-click the toolbar button and choose Options.
Browser labels can change between versions, so the wording on your screen may differ slightly.

Troubleshooting
The Save Page WE button is missing
Check the browser’s extension controls if permitted. If the extension is not installed, or your browser says it is managed or disabled, contact IT rather than trying to work around the restriction.

If your installed Chrome version offers the new method, try it. The listing says it can save pages the old method cannot, but it does not promise success on every site.

You cannot find the saved file
Check the browser’s Downloads list and the location shown in its download prompt. The older Chrome save method may remember the last location; the newer method does not, according to the extension listing.
Saving or downloading is blocked
A school or employer may manage browser settings, extensions, URL access, or downloads. Ask the administrator whether saving is allowed and where the file may be stored. The settings on an individual organization’s computer cannot be inferred from general browser documentation.

The saved page looks incomplete offline
The extension’s listing describes a single HTML output, not a universal guarantee that all page features or remote resources will remain available offline. If a particular page matters, open the downloaded file and check the content you need while you still have access to the original.
