To save the webpage currently displayed in Chrome as one HTML file, use Save Page WE’s toolbar button, its right-click menu, or the Alt+A shortcut. The extension saves a representation of the page as it appears at the time of saving; it does not promise to archive the entire website or preserve every server-side feature.
Save the current page as one HTML file
- Open the page in Chrome and wait until it has reached the state you want to keep. Content that has not loaded yet may not be represented in the saved page.
- Start the save using one of these documented methods:
- Click the Save Page WE toolbar button.
- Right-click the webpage, open the Save Page WE submenu, and choose a save command.
- Press Alt+A.
- Save the resulting file. The default filename extension is
.html.
The extension describes the result as a webpage saved “as currently displayed” in a single HTML file that can be opened in a browser. Treat it as a saved representation of that page, not a complete copy of the site’s backend or interactive services.

Save Page WE offers three item modes. The available listing describes their relationships, but does not provide a complete inventory of the resource types in each preset.

- Standard Items: includes Basic Items plus some additional items.
- Custom Items: combines Basic Items with items you choose from a list.
To inspect or adjust the detailed item selection, use the extension’s options rather than assuming a particular mode includes every image, stylesheet, font, script, or media file.

Save multiple pages
Save selected open tabs
The toolbar action can be configured for selected tabs. The extension documents selecting multiple tabs and choosing Save Selected Tabs. If the load-lazy-content option is enabled, tabs are brought to the foreground during the multi-page save.
Save URLs from a list
You can load a file containing URLs in the extension’s options, then choose Save Listed URLs. This is a separate workflow from saving the page currently open in one tab.

Cancel a save or troubleshoot a failure
Cancel
Press Alt+C to cancel a single-page or multiple-page save.

The extension listing says its older save method is the default, remembers the last save location, and may not save some pages in Chrome 84 or later; Yahoo is given as an example. The listing says the newer method can save more pages. If a save fails, check the extension options for the newer method and try it, but do not assume it will resolve every failure.

The saved page differs from what you expected
Save Page WE’s stated scope is the page as currently displayed. Let the page load to the desired state before saving, and review the mode’s item choices in the extension options. The available listing does not establish a complete list of unsupported sites or exactly which resource types each preset saves.
