On desktop Chrome, open the webpage, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac, then choose Save as PDF. Wait for the print preview to finish rendering and inspect its pages before saving. Chrome has no documented universal setting that prevents blank pages on every long webpage, so check whether the blank pages appear in the preview and adjust print settings one at a time.
Save a long webpage as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the page you want to capture in desktop Chrome.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also use Chrome’s menu and choose Print. Google’s desktop printing instructions describe this workflow.
- In the destination control, select Save as PDF.
- Wait for the preview to render. Check the page count and scroll through the preview, especially where blank pages appeared in a previous attempt.
- If needed, adjust one relevant setting at a time and wait for the preview to update. Available controls can include page range, layout, background graphics, selection-only, and fit-to-page or paper options; labels and availability vary by Chrome version and platform.
- When the preview looks right, select Save, choose a location and filename, and open the resulting PDF to verify it.
These controls can change what gets printed, but Google’s reviewed help does not describe any of them as a guaranteed fix for blank pages on long webpages.

Check where the blank pages appear
Before changing settings repeatedly, compare the print preview with the saved PDF. This is a practical way to localize the problem, not a confirmed diagnosis of its cause.
- Blank pages appear in preview: The issue is visible before the file is saved. Try an appropriate print setting, changing only one at a time, and inspect the preview again.
- Preview looks correct but the saved PDF has blank pages: Note the difference and retain the file for troubleshooting. The available documentation does not establish a specific cause or fix for this pattern.
- Preview does not render or reports a failure: Record what Chrome shows and whether the problem affects one page or multiple pages. A community report of “Print Preview Failed” is an individual case, not proof of a general cause or remedy: Chrome Help Community thread.

Save as PDF is different from Save page as
Save as PDF creates a paginated PDF through Chrome’s print workflow. Save page as saves webpage files instead; it is not another route to the same PDF output. See Google’s instructions for downloading or saving files. Chrome’s PDF viewer can open and handle PDFs, but its help page does not provide a general remedy for blank pages produced during webpage printing: Manage PDFs in Chrome.
Troubleshoot a failed or blank print
Capture the details needed to investigate
If changing relevant settings does not help, record the exact page URL, Chrome version, operating system, whether the preview rendered, and whether blank pages appeared in the preview, the saved PDF, or both. Those details help distinguish a page-specific problem from one tied to the browser environment; the documented sources do not identify a universal root cause.

Do not treat individual community workarounds as general fixes
Chrome Help Community threads show that other users have reported blank printing and failed previews, including a blank-page report from April 2025. Individual reports and replies do not establish a reliable fix for all long pages. Avoid assuming that changing an experimental flag, disabling extensions, changing hardware acceleration, reinstalling Chrome, or switching PDF software will solve the symptom generally.
