To save content that appears only as you scroll, enable Save Page WE’s Load lazy content option and choose either Scroll Page or Shrink Page before saving. If images already in the page are missing, enable Load lazy images in existing content too. The extension saves a single HTML file, but its capture is not guaranteed to preserve every frame, resource, or interaction for offline use.
Set up Save Page WE to load deferred content
- Open the webpage in Firefox or Chrome with Save Page WE installed.
- Open the extension’s Options from the toolbar button’s context menu.
- Under the saved-items options, enable Load lazy content, then select Scroll Page or Shrink Page. The extension documents these as alternative methods; it does not publish a success-rate or speed comparison between them.
- If images already present in the page are missing, separately enable Load lazy images in existing content.
- Save using the toolbar button, its context menu, or Alt+A. The default output is one
.htmlfile. - Open the file locally and check the later sections and images. If content is still missing, try the other lazy-content method and check the saved-items tier.
For pages that fill in results a few seconds after the initial load, Save Page WE also documents an option to delay starting the save after the page-load event.

Choose which page resources to include
The lazy-content setting controls attempts to expose deferred material before capture. The saved-items tier controls which kinds of resources are included in the file.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute| Tier | Documented contents |
|---|---|
| Basic | Currently displayed HTML images, canvas graphics, stylesheets, and currently displayed CSS images. |
| Standard | Basic coverage plus all HTML images, HTML audio/video, and object/embed files. |

Save Page WE describes the output as one HTML file containing the page’s currently displayed HTML and referenced resources. It converts external stylesheets to internal stylesheets and embeds binary resources such as images and fonts as data URIs.

What may not work in the offline copy
- Cross-origin frames: Some cannot be saved; scripts in cross-origin frames are never saved.
- Scripts and interactions: Saved scripts are disabled by default. Enabling script execution does not make the file a complete backup or guarantee that the original interactions will work offline.
- Uncaptured resources: Some resources may fail to save. The extension can show a warning or list the resources that were not saved.
- Page state: The saved file reflects what the extension can access when it saves. Content that never loaded or was inaccessible at capture time may not be present.
Troubleshoot missing content or a failed save
Later sections or images are absent
- Confirm Load lazy content is enabled and that one of its two methods is selected.
- Try Scroll Page if you used Shrink Page, or vice versa. The documentation establishes both options but does not say either works best on a particular site.
- Enable Load lazy images in existing content when the missing images belong to content already in the page.
- Try a broader tier, such as Standard instead of Basic, if the missing items are media or HTML images.
- For content that appears after a pause, use the save-delay option. Reopen the local file to verify the result rather than assuming the save completed fully.
The save command fails
Save Page WE lists an old and a new save method. The old method remembers the last save location in Firefox and Chrome, but the listing says it can fail on some pages in Chrome 84 or later. The new method can save pages the old method cannot; it does not remember the last location in Chrome. If one method fails, try the other. Download handling otherwise follows the browser’s settings. Save Page WE’s Mozilla and Chrome listings describe the browser versions’ functions and interfaces as identical, while noting these method and download differences. The listings were accessed October 3, 2026, and may change.
Browser alternatives and file-format context
Firefox’s built-in Web page, complete option saves a page with pictures in a directory; HTML only keeps the HTML in one file but omits pictures. Mozilla notes that the complete-page option may not preserve the original HTML link structure. These options do not provide Save Page WE’s documented lazy-content controls. See Mozilla’s instructions for saving a page.

Chrome’s pageCapture API describes MHTML as one file encapsulating a page and its resources. Chrome notes that MHTML can only be loaded from the file system and only in the main frame; it is technical context rather than a replacement workflow for the lazy-content settings above. Read Chrome’s pageCapture reference.
