To run a Marathi radio channel continuously on YouTube, send an audio-and-video program feed from an encoder to YouTube Live using the stream URL and key in YouTube Studio. First confirm that your channel is eligible and that you have the rights needed for every song, recording, jingle, and visual in the territories where the stream will be available. Then test the feed, keep its playback source, encoder, power, and internet connection running, and make a separate recording if you need a dependable archive.
What you need before going live
- A channel that can livestream: YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and meet its minimum age requirement of 16. Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio before scheduling. See YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance.
- A program feed: an encoder sends audio and video to YouTube. You can use streaming software or hardware; YouTube does not require a dedicated computer or a particular encoder. A still image, such as a station logo or program artwork you have permission to use, can accompany the audio, but it is an implementation choice rather than a requirement.
- Rights for the planned use: confirm permissions for the music and visuals for YouTube livestreaming, the relevant territories, and any archive you plan to keep. A radio-style format may involve rights in both the sound recording and the underlying composition.
- A stable, continuously available setup: for a local encoder, the playback source, encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast’s intended duration.
Clear the music and visual rights first
YouTube’s livestream terms make the broadcaster responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. The permissions required depend on the catalog, territory, and whether the content will be live only or also archived. YouTube’s terms do not provide a Marathi- or India-specific clearance checklist, so do not assume that one license or collecting society covers every track and use. A license does not guarantee that YouTube will let a stream continue without interruption. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may show a placeholder, issue a warning, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. If you have permission to use third-party content, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel. Territorial restrictions alone may not prevent an interruption. Set up the YouTube Live feed
- Check eligibility: sign in to YouTube Studio and verify that livestreaming is available for the channel and that no current restriction prevents the broadcast.
- Prepare the program: assemble the Marathi songs, speech, jingles, and visual elements only after confirming that the permissions cover the planned YouTube live use, territories, and archive. Decide how the playlist will repeat or rotate and what will happen if a track or playback source fails.
- Create or select a stream: open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or choose the stream, and copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is documented in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Configure the encoder: send an audio-and-video feed. YouTube recommends RTMPS when available, which encrypts the connection. For the encoder settings covered by its current guidance, YouTube recommends CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (and says not to exceed four seconds), and stereo AAC audio at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz. Choose video resolution and bitrate to suit the visual and the upload capacity you can sustain reliably; do not select settings your connection cannot maintain. Check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for current recommendations.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview: send the feed, wait for YouTube to receive it, and check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Confirm that the audio is present, the image is correct, and the feed is stable.
- Go live and monitor it: listen from another device and keep an eye on the encoder and YouTube’s live output. YouTube recommends testing and continuously monitoring streams; see YouTube live streaming tips.
Plan continuity and keep your own recording
A local setup depends on every part of the chain staying available: the media player or playlist, encoder, computer or hardware, power, and internet connection. If any of those stops, the feed can stop too. Test the full chain before promoting the channel, and decide who will notice an interruption and restart the encoder or playback source.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is an operational limit, not a promise that an archive will be preserved. If you need a complete program recording, record locally or use another recording arrangement you control.
