To watch two computer-controlled teams play in College Football 27, use a scheduled Dynasty matchup: choose Play Game, open Super Sim, set the speed to Slow, and simulate to the end. This is the practical watch-mode workflow reported by the community, although EA has not published a complete unattended CPU-versus-CPU menu tutorial.
If you want to coach before each snap instead of simply spectating, enable Coach Mode under Dynasty → League Settings and turn on Auto QB. You will still call plays and make pre-play adjustments; CPU-controlled players execute once the ball is snapped.

What “CPU versus CPU” means in College Football 27
There are two different experiences that players often call CPU-versus-CPU. The first is an unattended simulation: you do not call plays, control a quarterback, or make decisions during the game. You start the simulation and watch the result develop through the game’s simulation interface. In College Football 27, the community-reported way to do that in Dynasty is Super Sim at Slow speed.

The second is Coach Mode. Coach Mode is not a hands-off spectator switch. EA describes it as a sideline experience in which you call plays, manage the situation, and make pre-play adjustments; after the snap, the players execute the play. Auto QB can hand quarterback control to the CPU, but you remain responsible for the pre-snap coaching decisions.

Keeping those two modes separate prevents the most common setup mistake: enabling Coach Mode and expecting the game to run an entirely unattended broadcast. For a fully hands-off Dynasty game, start with Super Sim. For interactive coaching with CPU execution after the snap, use Coach Mode.
Method 1: watch a Dynasty matchup with Super Sim
Super Sim is the clearest route when your goal is to let both teams play themselves. The following sequence reflects community reports rather than a step-by-step EA help article, so menu wording can change in a later update.
- Load or create a Dynasty. Advance to the week containing the matchup you want to watch. Super Sim is used from a scheduled Dynasty game rather than from a generic menu before a matchup exists.
- Open the scheduled game. Select the matchup and choose Play Game. This takes you into the game setup where the simulation controls are available.
- Enter Super Sim. Open the Super Sim screen from the game interface. If you are already on the field and cannot find it, back out to the matchup’s game options rather than trying to assign controllers in a pre-game screen.
- Set simulation speed to Slow. Slow is the important setting when you want the game to unfold instead of receiving an immediate simulated result. Faster settings are useful for advancing a schedule, but they do not provide the same spectator experience.
- Start the simulation. Simulate drives or continue the simulation through the full game, depending on the controls shown in your build. Let it run until the final result is reached.
- Use only controls the interface exposes. Pause, resume, or exit if those controls are visible in the current version. Do not assume that every build provides a broadcast-style pause, camera, or play-by-play presentation.
This process is intended for a Dynasty game in which the matchup is already on the schedule. The practical distinction is that Super Sim handles the play decisions for both sides, while you observe the simulation at a deliberately slower pace.
Why Slow speed matters
Super Sim can be used simply to obtain a result, but that is different from watching a game. Slow speed gives the simulation time to progress in a way that can be followed. It is the setting community reports identify for a watchable CPU-versus-CPU session.
Slow does not establish that every snap will be shown as a full television broadcast. EA has not documented a guaranteed broadcast presentation for unattended CPU-versus-CPU play. What you see—such as drive summaries, transitions, or available pause controls—depends on the interface in the current build.
What you can and cannot control during Super Sim
Super Sim is designed to remove your play-calling role. You are not expected to choose an offensive formation, steer the quarterback, or make a pre-snap adjustment for each play. The simulation resolves those actions for the CPU-controlled teams.

The exact boundary between drive simulation and full-game simulation is controlled by the options displayed on screen. If the current interface lets you simulate one drive at a time, you can advance in smaller segments; if it offers a full-game command, you can let the matchup run to its conclusion. Use the visible commands rather than relying on a control sequence from another version.

Method 2: use Coach Mode for CPU execution after the snap
Coach Mode is the supported coaching alternative. EA’s College Football 27 Dynasty & Team Builder Deep Dive (2026) says Coach Mode lets you call plays, manage the situation, make pre-play adjustments, and put players in position to succeed. Once the ball is snapped, the players execute the play.
- Open Dynasty settings. From your Dynasty, go to League Settings.
- Enable Coach Mode. Turn on Coach Mode for the league or Dynasty.
- Turn on Auto QB. This is the key setting when you want the CPU to control quarterback actions rather than taking over the quarterback yourself.
- Configure the supporting options. Set Auto Snap, Coach Suggestions, Pre-Play Cutoff, Pre-Play Audio, and Coach Perspective Camera according to how much control and information you want before the snap.
- Call a play and make any pre-snap adjustments. The coach remains involved until the snap. After the snap, allow the CPU-controlled players to execute.
Coach Mode is therefore a hybrid between playing and spectating. It is useful if you want to manage strategy, formations, audibles, or situational decisions while avoiding direct stick control once the play begins.
Pre-Play Cutoff and the play clock
EA states that Pre-Play Cutoff ends communication when the play clock reaches 15 seconds. If you leave this setting enabled, your pre-snap communication and adjustments stop at that point. Plan substitutions, audibles, and alignment changes before the cutoff rather than waiting until the final seconds.
Online Dynasty warning
In an Online Dynasty, Coach Mode is a league-wide setting. Enabling it affects the league rather than silently applying only to your team. Coordinate with other members before changing it, especially if some users expect conventional player control.
Super Sim versus Coach Mode
The choice depends on whether you want to make decisions before each snap.

| Comparison point | Super Sim | Coach Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Control level | Hands-off simulation for both teams | You call plays and make pre-play decisions; CPU players execute after the snap |
| Pace | Use Slow when you want to watch the game develop; other speeds can produce a quicker result | Moves at the normal play-by-play pace because you participate before each snap |
| Mode scope | Community-reported workflow for a scheduled Dynasty matchup | League setting under Dynasty → League Settings |
| Quarterback control | Handled by the simulation | Enable Auto QB for CPU quarterback control |
| Presentation | Current-build interface determines what summaries, transitions, and controls appear; no official broadcast-style guarantee | Uses the coaching interface and any selected camera or pre-play options |
| Repeatability | You can rerun a scheduled matchup only if the current Dynasty and interface permit it; available settings determine what can be changed | Settings and pre-play choices can change outcomes from one run to another |
The table describes the documented distinction without promising features that EA has not specified. Super Sim is the better fit for a spectator session; Coach Mode is the better fit for a user who wants strategic control.
Is there a true CPU-versus-CPU mode in Play Now?
EA’s official FAQ lists Play Now and Dynasty as game modes, but the material currently documented by EA does not provide a complete recipe for an unattended Play Now CPU-versus-CPU broadcast. In particular, there is no established official controller-assignment sequence that should be presented as universal.
If your goal is simply to watch two teams, use the Dynasty Super Sim workflow first. You can inspect the Play Now menus in your installed build, but do not assume that a controller reassignment screen, spectator slot, camera mode, or automatic broadcast exists just because another sports game offers one. Menu labels and available options can change after updates.
Play Now remains useful for a quick matchup when the current build visibly exposes the controls you need. If it does not, return to a scheduled Dynasty game and use Super Sim at Slow speed, which is the community-reported route for a watchable CPU-versus-CPU simulation.
Platforms and availability
EA’s official FAQ identifies College Football 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. EA’s July 9, 2026 launch announcement describes a worldwide release on those platforms. The instructions above assume you are using one of those supported versions and that your game is updated to the labels shown in your installation.
Because the game can receive updates, treat exact menu placement as version-sensitive. A setting named Super Sim, Coach Mode, Auto QB, or Pre-Play Cutoff may move within a submenu even when its function remains the same.

Troubleshooting a CPU-versus-CPU setup
Super Sim is not visible
Confirm that you entered a scheduled Dynasty matchup and selected Play Game. Super Sim is presented as part of the game flow, not as a general-purpose option from every Dynasty screen. If the matchup is not active yet, advance the Dynasty calendar until the game is available.
The simulation finishes immediately
Reopen Super Sim and verify that the speed is set to Slow. A faster simulation setting can resolve the game before you have time to follow it. Select Slow before starting the next segment or full-game simulation.
You are still controlling the quarterback
That behavior is expected if you are in Coach Mode without Auto QB. Return to Dynasty → League Settings, enable Coach Mode, and turn on Auto QB. Remember that Coach Mode still requires your play call and pre-snap choices; Auto QB does not turn it into unattended Super Sim.
Other Online Dynasty members lose their usual controls
Coach Mode is league-wide in an Online Dynasty. Tell league members before enabling it, and disable it again if the group wants standard user control. Changing an individual team’s expectation will not override the league-wide setting.
You cannot find a pause or broadcast camera
Do not treat the absence of a pause button, broadcast camera, or continuous play view as a setup failure. EA has not documented a guaranteed broadcast presentation for unattended CPU-versus-CPU play. Use whatever pause, resume, camera, or exit controls the current build actually displays.

Using the simulation to compare teams or settings
Super Sim can be useful for observing a matchup without taking control, but one result is not a definitive ranking of the teams. If you are comparing strategies, keep the matchup, difficulty, and other available settings consistent, and record which settings changed between runs. The game interface determines which sliders or simulation options are available; do not assume that a setting from an earlier version exists in College Football 27.
- Start from the same scheduled matchup or a newly created equivalent matchup.
- Record the current league, gameplay, and simulation settings before the first run.
- Use the same Super Sim speed for each comparison; Slow is appropriate when you need to watch the progression.
- Change one available setting at a time if you are testing its effect.
- Note the final score, major game events, and any settings shown by the interface.
This approach separates a repeatable observation from a one-off result. It also makes clear which conclusions come from your own Dynasty setup rather than from an officially published performance benchmark.
Recording or streaming a spectator simulation
If you plan to record the game, test the capture setup before launching the full simulation. Confirm that the console or PC records the game audio, that the selected camera remains usable during Super Sim, and that storage is available for the expected session length. Since the current build may show summaries or transitions instead of every snap, check a short test segment before committing to a long recording.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a coaching stream, Coach Mode gives you natural moments to explain play calls and pre-snap adjustments. For a hands-off stream, Super Sim at Slow speed removes your play-calling workload, but you should describe it accurately as a simulation rather than promise a television-style broadcast that the game may not provide.
Recommended decision
Choose Super Sim at Slow speed when you want to spectate a scheduled Dynasty game with both teams controlled by the CPU. Choose Coach Mode with Auto QB when you want to call plays and make pre-snap decisions while the CPU handles execution after the snap. Play Now is an official mode, but EA has not documented a complete unattended CPU-versus-CPU procedure for it, so rely on options that are visibly available in your current build.
