You can run a 24/7 YouTube stream of recorded coding tutorials either by keeping a computer and encoder running or by using a cloud playout service. First make sure your channel is eligible to livestream, clear the rights to every item in the playlist, and decide how you will monitor failures and handle replays. A continuous broadcast is not guaranteed to become one complete 24-hour archive.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm YouTube Live access
YouTube requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until the planned launch. See YouTube’s livestreaming access requirements and its live-streaming setup guidance.

Check the content and rights
Review each tutorial and its accompanying audio, code, slides, overlays, graphics, and third-party clips. YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for live distribution, including music licensing rights. A recording being educational or already online does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. The YouTube livestream terms set out this obligation; also ensure the stream follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines and live-streaming rules.
Choose local encoding or cloud playout
A local encoder gives you direct control over the computer, media, and encoder configuration, but the computer, software, power, and internet connection must keep working. Cloud playout can keep the playback running without your own computer staying on, but the vendor’s current capabilities, restart behavior, support, data handling, and price need to be checked directly. YouTube’s encoder information describes the connection workflow and lists a cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded-video streaming; that listing is not a guarantee of a provider’s current terms or reliability.

Set up a local encoder
1. Create the livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live.
- Create a new stream or schedule it. YouTube provides the stream URL and stream key for the encoder connection.
- Keep the stream key private: it authorizes an encoder to send video to your channel. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update your encoder with the new key.
Labels and screen layout can change; use YouTube’s current encoder connection instructions if the Studio interface differs.
2. Load the tutorials in your encoder
Choose an encoder that can send a video source to YouTube Live. Set its media input to the tutorial file or playlist, and verify that both picture and audio are present. Playlist looping and automatic restart are software-specific: YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not establish a universal playlist setup, so follow the documentation for your chosen encoder rather than assuming a particular button or setting exists.

Before relying on a long playlist, test the end of one tutorial and the transition to the next. Check for gaps, unexpected desktop or notification capture, silent files, and playback that stops instead of advancing. If your encoder requires a computer-based player as its source, configure that player not to sleep or stop playback when unattended.
3. Connect, preview, and go live
- Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP output settings.
- Start sending the feed before the intended public start time.
- Open the Live Control Room preview and confirm that the correct tutorial is playing and audio is audible.
- When the preview and stream details look right, start the broadcast using the encoder and the available YouTube Studio controls for that stream.
- Keep monitoring the stream. YouTube recommends checking audio and video quality, testing backup-encoder failover, and verifying archive files; a one-time setup does not guarantee uninterrupted operation. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
4. Plan for local failures
Have a way to notice a stopped encoder, frozen or invalid media, silent audio, computer shutdown, or lost network connection. A UPS battery backup can help a locally hosted computer survive some short power interruptions, but it cannot restore a failed internet connection or fix an outage at YouTube. YouTube recommends testing failover rather than assuming it will work when needed.

Plan the stream length around replay needs
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not establish that a single 24-hour broadcast will be saved as one complete replay, how a longer stream may be split, or whether all of it will remain available. If a reliable replay matters, use shorter broadcast blocks that stay under the stated threshold or publish each tutorial separately as an on-demand video. See YouTube’s encoder and archive guidance.
Understand monetization and reused-content risk
Ads may be served on eligible monetized livestreams, but YouTube does not guarantee ad slots will run; channel eligibility and settings also matter. Its monetization policies apply to livestreams. In an update dated July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible under the existing policy. That policy does not determine whether a particular coding-tutorial stream will qualify: assess the originality and usefulness of the actual content against current channel-wide and content-specific rules. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
