You can run devotional music on YouTube from a Mac mini by sending a prepared playlist through an encoder such as OBS. What “24/7” means on YouTube
A Mac mini running OBS can send a continuous live feed, but the broadcast session and its archive are separate concerns. YouTube Help says that all streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a promise that a longer, uninterrupted stream will be archived as one complete video. Plan the stream as an ongoing broadcast, not as a dependable way to create a single, permanently archived 24/7 recording. The official setup information does not establish a safe restart workaround or a particular automation strategy for preserving one session.

What you need before setup
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start.
- A Mac mini that can run a compatible encoder. OBS lists macOS builds for Intel and Apple silicon, and its download page lists macOS 13.0 or newer. Check the current OBS release and your Mac’s compatibility before installing; software and hardware lineups change.
- A playlist of recordings you have the right to livestream, stored where OBS can access them.
- A working internet connection and access to YouTube Studio. The available setup information does not establish a required upload speed or a tested Mac mini configuration for this particular broadcast.
Set up the stream with OBS on your Mac mini
1. Enable live streaming
- Sign in to the YouTube channel that will host the devotional stream.
- Enable live streaming for that channel and allow for the first-time activation delay, which YouTube says can take up to 24 hours.
2. Install OBS and add your music
- Download the OBS build for your Mac mini’s processor type—Intel or Apple silicon—and confirm that your macOS version meets the current requirement. OBS’s download page lists macOS 13.0 or newer.
- Open OBS and create a scene for the broadcast. Add your prepared audio files or playlist using an appropriate media source, and check that the audio is playing in OBS before going live.
- Do a supervised rehearsal. Listen for gaps, unexpected silence, or an item that stops instead of advancing. The exact playlist setup depends on how your files are organized and the OBS version; the available official setup information does not establish a particular continuous-playback configuration.
3. Create or schedule a YouTube stream
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go Live to create a stream, or open the Manage tab to schedule one.
- Review the stream details and visibility before starting. Scheduling can help you promote the stream and lets viewers set reminders.
- Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room and find its server URL and stream key.
4. Connect OBS to YouTube and go live
- In OBS, open the stream settings and enter the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube Live Control Room. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your channel’s stream.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check that the preview appears in Live Control Room and that YouTube reports a healthy stream status.
- If YouTube’s workflow requires it, click Go live in Live Control Room to publish the incoming feed.
- Confirm that the audio is audible on the live stream, then keep checking OBS and Live Control Room during the broadcast.
Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects copyrighted material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content remains, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. Devotional or religious subject matter does not by itself make a recording copyright-free.

Before broadcasting, use recordings the channel owns or has permission to livestream. A musical composition and a particular recorded performance can have different rights holders, so check that your permission covers the actual recording as well as the underlying music. Keep documentation of the permissions you receive.

Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube says creators using licensed third-party music should ask the rights holder to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. If you choose to archive a stream, YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the stream ends.
Keep the Mac-based setup dependable
This approach depends on the Mac mini, OBS, the media files and the network connection continuing to work. The available official setup guidance does not establish that a specific Mac mini model or OBS scene will run unattended indefinitely, so do not treat continuous operation as guaranteed.

- Run a supervised trial before relying on the stream. Check playback, audio levels, YouTube’s stream status and the playlist’s transitions.
- Keep the Mac mini and network equipment powered and connected while streaming. A computer-based encoder cannot keep sending if the computer or its internet connection is unavailable.
- A UPS is an optional way to help protect against brief power interruptions; it does not solve internet outages, software crashes, session limits or music-rights problems.
- External storage is optional if you want to keep a local media library or recordings. It is not required by YouTube’s encoder setup.
- Do not assume a particular bitrate, resolution, upload speed, Mac mini memory or storage configuration from the general encoder instructions. Confirm any specific encoder settings against current YouTube guidance and your own connection and source files.
