You can use FFmpeg to send a Hindi-song playlist to YouTube Live, but a loop alone does not make a broadcast reliably unattended. First enable live streaming, confirm you have the rights to broadcast every recording and composition, then configure the FFmpeg workflow for your media and test it with an unlisted stream. You will also need a way to detect and recover from process or network failures.
Before you set up the stream
Enable YouTube Live
In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. If live streaming has not previously been enabled for the channel, activation may take up to 24 hours. Complete that step well before your planned launch. In the scheduled-stream workflow, YouTube instructs you to wait for an encoder preview and then click Go live. Confirm music rights first
You need rights for both the sound recordings and the underlying compositions for the intended livestream and territories. Buying a song or being allowed to listen to it does not establish permission to broadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and if the matched content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even a license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place the responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Use music you created or commissioned with documented rights, or obtain explicit permission for livestream use. For licensed third-party tracks, confirm Content ID allowlisting with the rights owner before broadcasting. Check that permissions also cover any archive you intend to retain.

Connect FFmpeg to YouTube securely
Copy the ingest URL and key from Live Control Room
Use the server URL and stream key shown for your stream in Live Control Room. For an encrypted connection, choose the RTMPS URL provided there rather than assuming an ordinary RTMP address is encrypted. RTMPS is RTMP carried over TLS/SSL. Google’s RTMPS ingestion guidance specifies a valid YouTube ingest endpoint and path, port 443, and the correct server hostname for TLS/SNI. Use the actual address shown for your stream; do not substitute a guessed endpoint.
Protect the stream key
The stream key acts as the encoder’s credential for sending a feed to your channel. Keep it out of public commands, screenshots, repositories and logs. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder configuration. YouTube’s stream settings guidance explains the role of the key.

Plan the FFmpeg playlist and recovery workflow
FFmpeg can form part of a continuous playlist workflow, but the exact loop syntax, timestamp handling, input compatibility and restart behavior depend on your installed FFmpeg build and the media files. YouTube’s encoder and RTMPS guidance explains how to connect an encoder; it does not prescribe a particular FFmpeg playlist command or a process-supervisor recipe. There is no single command here that can be treated as tested for every playlist and build.

Identify the formats, video and audio streams, durations and timestamps in every file. Decide whether your workflow will re-encode or stream-copy; those approaches have different compatibility and resource implications.
- Choose and validate a playlist method for your FFmpeg build. Check the documentation for the installed version and confirm that the method handles your files, playlist boundaries and timestamps. Do not assume a loop option also reconnects after a network failure or restarts FFmpeg after a crash.
- Configure the output for YouTube. Use the RTMPS server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Keep the key private, including when you store or share the command or configuration.
- Test privately or unlisted before launch. Check that the preview appears in Live Control Room, the audio and video play correctly, the playlist advances, and the stream remains healthy across file boundaries. Test the full restart and reconnection path rather than only a successful initial connection.
- Monitor and recover. Decide how you will notice a disconnected stream or stopped process and who or what will restart it. YouTube encourages creators to monitor stream audio and video quality; unattended operation still needs monitoring and a tested recovery plan.
The setup differs depending on whether FFmpeg runs on a home computer or a hosted machine. A local system depends on local power and connectivity; hosting moves the process off-site but does not by itself establish a particular reliability level. In either case, neither the hosting choice nor the encoder grants music rights or prevents Content ID interruptions.

Plan for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
If keeping the full program matters, test a local recording path and verify the resulting files rather than assuming the outbound stream also means the archive is healthy. You can also plan separate, shorter broadcasts, but that changes watch-page continuity and requires restart planning. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup and checking audio and video quality.

Troubleshooting a continuous Hindi music stream
- Live streaming is not available yet: If this is the channel’s first time enabling Live, activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable it in advance rather than waiting until launch day.
- FFmpeg cannot connect: Recheck the URL and key in Live Control Room. If using RTMPS, use the supplied RTMPS address and ensure the connection uses the valid endpoint, port 443 and hostname required for TLS/SNI.
- The stream connects but stops at a playlist boundary: Check whether the chosen playlist method handles each file’s format and timestamps. Validate every transition with your installed FFmpeg version; a successful first file does not prove the full playlist works.
- The process stops after a disconnect: A looping playlist does not, by itself, prove automatic reconnect or process restart. Test those recovery cases and arrange monitoring and a way to restart the encoder.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the live feed: Check Live Control Room for a third-party content match. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption without channel allowlisting; contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting and resolve the rights issue before resuming.
- The full replay is missing: Do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive for a stream longer than 12 hours. Use a tested local recording or plan shorter broadcasts if a complete archive is essential.
- The stream is live but the music should not be: Monitor audio as well as video during testing. Verify the playlist’s audio at transitions and confirm the local archive, if used, contains the expected program.
