You can review Facebook-connected apps and games from Profile picture > Settings & privacy > Settings > Apps and Websites. Open an app’s View and Edit panel to see its permissions, then choose Remove and confirm if you want to end that Facebook connection.
Removing the connection controls Facebook’s access relationship. It does not, by itself, prove that the third-party provider deleted information it already received. For provider-held data, use that service’s privacy, account, or deletion controls.

Find every app connected to Facebook
Facebook calls the relevant settings area Apps and Websites. It contains apps, websites, and games that you added with Facebook, including services you may no longer remember using. The list is the right starting point for an account cleanup because it shows the connections Facebook still recognizes.

What the list tells you
The list represents Facebook-side connections. An entry may be an app, a game, or a website that used Facebook Login or requested information through Facebook. An old entry is not automatically proof of a compromised account. Treat it as a connection to review: identify the service, inspect what it was allowed to access, and remove it if you no longer need the relationship.
Work through the entire list instead of stopping at the first unfamiliar name. A business may appear under a product name, a parent company, or the name of a game rather than the name you remember. If you are unsure, use the service name shown in Facebook to search your email, password manager, subscription receipts, and account-recovery messages. Do not click an unfamiliar link merely to investigate it; identify the service from information you already trust.
Inspect an app before removing it
Do not remove an unfamiliar entry blindly if you still use that service to sign in. First inspect its permissions and consider whether another sign-in method is available.

- In Apps and Websites, locate the app or website.
- Select View and Edit beside its name.
- Read the permission list from top to bottom. Note what information or actions the connection covers and whether the service is still part of your routine.
- Decide whether you need to preserve access to an account created with Facebook Login before disconnecting it.
Use a simple permission review
For each entry, ask four questions: Do I recognize the service? Do I still use it? What permissions does Facebook show? Do I have a different way to sign in? This prevents two common mistakes: leaving every old connection active just because it is familiar, or removing a useful connection and then losing access to an account.
Record the service name and any important permission before you remove it. A note is useful if you later need to contact the provider, especially when you cannot remember which outside account was linked to Facebook. Facebook’s panel shows the permissions associated with that connection; it is not a complete history of every piece of information a provider may have received over time.
Pay attention to publishing permission
Meta’s removal guidance specifically explains that if a post permission is not shown, the app cannot publish posts on your behalf. That absence is useful when evaluating risk: do not assume an app can post merely because it appears in the connected-app list. Conversely, if a publishing permission is listed, treat it as a reason to review the connection promptly and remove it when you no longer need the app.
A listed permission is a description of what the Facebook connection allows; it is not evidence that the service actually used the permission. If an unexpected post, message, or other activity appears on your account, investigate Facebook’s security settings and the service itself rather than relying only on the app list.

The documented workflow establishes an app-specific review page and a complete removal control. It does not establish that every app offers a separate switch for changing individual permissions. If your View and Edit page presents an edit control, use only the options actually shown there. If it does not, removing the connection is the documented way to end that app’s Facebook access.
Remove a connected app or website
After reviewing the entry, use its own removal control rather than deleting your Facebook account.
- From the app’s View and Edit panel, scroll through the permissions and other details.
- Select Remove.
- Read the confirmation prompt, then confirm the removal.
The confirmation ends the Facebook-side connection for that app. Repeat the process for each obsolete service; there is no need to remove an app you still require for a current login unless you have first arranged another way to access that service.

Before confirming, check for a separate account login
Some services let people create an account through Facebook Login without setting a separate password. If that describes your account, open the service directly and add an email address, password, passkey, or another supported sign-in method before removing the Facebook connection. The Facebook settings page cannot create a replacement login for the third party.
Test the alternate method while the Facebook connection still works. Sign out, sign back in using the new method, and verify that it opens the same account rather than creating a blank new profile. If the provider does not offer a way to add another credential, contact its support or account-recovery team before selecting Remove.
Remove several obsolete entries methodically
There is no need to rush through the list. Handle one entry at a time, confirm the result, and then return to the list. Start with services you no longer use or do not recognize. Keep a short record of entries you leave connected and why, such as a current work tool or a game account you still access. This makes a later review easier and avoids removing an account that someone in your household still needs.
What removing the connection does—and does not do
What it changes on Facebook
Removal revokes the connection represented in Apps and Websites. The app should no longer have the Facebook permissions shown for that connection, and it cannot use that Facebook Login relationship going forward. If you later want to use Facebook with the service again, the service may ask you to authorize a new connection.
Removing one entry does not remove other apps, change your Facebook password, or delete your Facebook account. It also does not automatically change connected Meta accounts in Accounts Center or disconnect businesses listed under Activity Off-Meta Technologies. Those are separate settings with different purposes.

Removing access is not the same as erasing every copy of data the provider may already hold. The documented Facebook controls do not establish each provider’s retention period, backups, logs, or deletion behavior. If you want the provider-held information deleted, contact the service or use its own privacy and account-deletion tools. Check its policy for identity verification, waiting periods, and exceptions such as records that must be retained by law.
When contacting a provider, identify the account linked through Facebook and ask specifically what information was obtained through that connection, how long it is retained, and how to request deletion. Keep the provider’s confirmation or ticket number. A Facebook removal confirmation demonstrates that the Facebook-side relationship ended; it is not a provider deletion certificate.
What happens to an account that used Facebook Login
Disconnecting an app can leave its account intact while removing Facebook as a sign-in method. That is why adding another login method first matters. If you cannot sign in after removal, the third party—not Facebook’s Apps and Websites settings—is the party that must restore access or change the login method.
Do not confuse Apps and Websites with Activity Off-Meta Technologies
Facebook provides another privacy area called Activity Off-Meta Technologies. Its object is different: it concerns activity information that businesses send to Meta, not the permission record for a Facebook Login connection.
| Setting | What it covers | Available actions described by Meta | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apps and Websites | Apps, websites, and games connected to your Facebook account | Open an app’s View and Edit page, review permissions, and choose Remove | It is not a guarantee that the provider erased data already received |
| Activity Off-Meta Technologies | Activity information that businesses send to Meta from outside Facebook | Review businesses, disconnect specific businesses, or clear the information | It is not the same as revoking a Facebook Login connection |
Use Apps and Websites when your goal is to stop an app from using a Facebook connection. Use Activity Off-Meta Technologies when your goal is to review or manage activity data that businesses shared with Meta. You may need to use both areas because changing one does not automatically perform the other action.

Reviewing activity data separately
Meta’s 2023 announcement described controls for reviewing businesses that share activity information, disconnecting particular businesses, and clearing the information. Those controls address data sent to Meta; they do not tell a business to delete every record it keeps on its own systems. For that, follow the business’s separate privacy process.
Disconnecting a business in Activity Off-Meta Technologies therefore should not be presented as a substitute for removing an app under Apps and Websites. Conversely, removing a Facebook Login connection does not clear activity information that a business previously sent to Meta. Choose the setting based on whether you are managing a connection or activity data.
If an app looks unfamiliar
An unfamiliar listing deserves investigation, but the listing alone does not establish that your Facebook account was hacked. Apps can remain in the list after a one-time login, an old game, a forgotten website registration, or a service you no longer recognize by its current name.
- Open View and Edit and read the permissions before taking action.
- Search your own email or password manager for the service name, sign-up messages, receipts, or account-recovery notices.
- If you do not recognize the service and do not need its Facebook connection, choose Remove and confirm.
- Review Facebook’s security settings separately if you also see unfamiliar logins, changed account details, unexpected messages, or other signs of suspicious activity.
- Change your Facebook password and enable available account-protection features when the broader evidence suggests unauthorized access.
Removing a suspicious app is a sensible containment step, but it is not a diagnosis. Investigate other security signals rather than assuming the app entry alone proves compromise. If you find evidence of unauthorized access, secure the Facebook account first and then work through the connected-app list again after changing the password.
Why deleting Facebook is the wrong fix for one app
Deleting your Facebook account is much broader than removing one app. Meta warns that account deletion can end Facebook Login access to other apps and websites. If those services do not have another login method, you may need to contact them to recover the associated accounts.
Use the app-specific Remove control when the objective is to disconnect one service. Consider account deletion only when you have made a separate, deliberate decision to leave Facebook and have planned how to preserve access to every outside account that depends on it. Deleting Facebook should never be the default troubleshooting step for a single unfamiliar listing.
How mobile users should handle changing labels
Meta’s help material presents the removal sequence for computer help and lists iPhone, Android, iPad, mobile-browser, and Facebook Lite contexts. It does not establish a separate, universal current path for each mobile surface. On a phone or tablet, start with the profile picture or menu, open Settings & privacy, then Settings, and look for Apps and Websites. Once you reach an app entry, the documented controls remain View and Edit, the permission list, Remove, and confirmation.
If a label is missing, update the Facebook app, try the web version in a browser, or use the settings search field if your version provides one. Do not treat a differently arranged menu as evidence that the connection cannot be removed; look for the named Apps and Websites section. Avoid relying on an old screenshot or a menu path copied from another device, because Facebook can rearrange settings without changing the destination’s name.
Where Accounts Center fits
Accounts Center manages connected Meta accounts and experiences across services such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other Meta accounts. Meta says accounts placed together may use information across accounts for personalized ads and account suggestions.
Accounts Center is relevant when you are reviewing links between your own Meta accounts. It is not the Apps and Websites path for removing a third-party Facebook Login connection. If your concern is an outside app or website, return to Settings & privacy > Settings > Apps and Websites rather than changing Accounts Center settings.

A practical Facebook connection audit
Use this checklist when you want a deliberate cleanup instead of removing entries at random:
- Open Apps and Websites from the profile menu.
- Work through every listed app, website, and game, including entries you have not used recently.
- Open View and Edit before acting on an entry.
- Record any service that still uses Facebook Login and add another sign-in method before removal.
- Pay particular attention to whether a post permission is listed.
- Remove obsolete or unrecognized connections and confirm each prompt.
- Return to the list and verify that each removed entry is no longer shown.
- Separately review Activity Off-Meta Technologies if you want to manage businesses’ activity data sent to Meta.
- Use each provider’s own privacy or deletion process when you want data held outside Facebook removed.
- Review Facebook security settings when an unfamiliar app appears alongside other signs of account misuse.
Keep the audit focused on actual connections. You do not need a special cleaning utility, browser extension, or physical product; the relevant controls are in Facebook’s own settings. Do not grant a new app access merely to test whether it is trustworthy.
Troubleshooting common problems
The app is not listed
If a service is absent from Apps and Websites, it may not be using Facebook Login, may have already been disconnected, or may be connected to a different Facebook account. Check the service’s own account settings and your other Facebook profiles before assuming the connection is active. A service may also use an email-and-password login even though you remember visiting it through Facebook.
There is no View and Edit button
The available controls can vary by entry and platform. Open the item if Facebook provides another selectable area, or try the web version of Facebook. Do not infer permissions that are not displayed; the documented removal process applies when the app-specific panel exposes View and Edit and Remove.
Removal succeeds but the service still knows you
That result can be expected. Facebook-side removal does not establish deletion of provider-held records. Sign in to the service directly, submit its privacy or deletion request, and ask how it handles information previously obtained through Facebook. If the service continues to send activity information to Meta, review Activity Off-Meta Technologies separately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsYou removed an app and lost sign-in access
Use the third party’s account-recovery process. Explain that Facebook Login was disconnected and request a password reset, email change, or alternate authentication method. This is another reason to add a separate login method before removing a connection you still use. Do not delete your Facebook account as a recovery shortcut; Meta warns that account deletion can affect access to multiple outside services.
The menu labels do not match
Facebook changes layouts across apps, browsers, devices, and regions. Start from the profile menu and search within Settings & privacy for Apps and Websites. The exact mobile path is not established as identical across every current interface, but the destination and app-level controls use those recognizable labels.
Frequently asked questions
Does removing an app delete my account with that service?
No. It removes the Facebook-side connection. The outside account may remain active, and you must use the provider’s own account controls if you want that account closed.
Will removing an app erase data it already received?
Not necessarily. Facebook’s removal workflow does not establish what the provider retains. Contact the provider or use its privacy and deletion process for data held on the provider’s systems.
Recommended Free Tools
Can I remove only one permission?
Only if your app’s View and Edit page actually offers that control. Meta’s documented workflow guarantees the app-level Remove action, not a universal set of individual permission switches.
Best Value
What if the app can post to Facebook?
Review the permission list promptly. Meta says that if post permission is not shown, the app cannot publish posts on your behalf. If it is shown and you no longer need the app, remove the connection and investigate any other suspicious activity separately.
Is an unfamiliar app proof that my account was hacked?
No. An old login or forgotten game can remain listed. Treat it as a connection to investigate, then check Facebook security settings for additional signs such as unfamiliar logins or changed account details.
Should I use Activity Off-Meta Technologies instead?
Use Apps and Websites to revoke an app or website’s Facebook connection. Use Activity Off-Meta Technologies to review, disconnect, or clear activity information businesses sent to Meta. They address different objects and actions.
Should I delete Facebook to remove every connected app?
No. Use each app’s Remove control. Meta warns that deleting Facebook can end Facebook Login access to other apps and websites and may require contacting those services to recover accounts.
What if I cannot find Apps and Websites on my phone?
Open the profile menu, then Settings & privacy and Settings. Search for the exact name Apps and Websites, try Facebook in a browser, or update the app. Labels and placement can differ by device and version.
The short version
Use Apps and Websites to see Facebook-connected apps and games, open View and Edit to understand an app’s permissions, and choose Remove to end that connection. Keep Activity Off-Meta Technologies as a separate review for information businesses send to Meta, and contact each provider directly if your goal is deletion of data it may already retain.
