Review each separately. Changing an optional data-sharing setting is not the same as deleting photos, recordings, transcripts, or copies you have already saved or shared.
Start with the glasses privacy settings
In the Meta AI app, open Glasses → Device settings → [your glasses] → Glasses privacy. Meta identifies this screen as the place to review and change the Additional Data choice. The setting applies to all devices paired with the app.

Meta distinguishes two categories:
- Essential Data is used automatically for device operation, safety, security, and integrity.
- Additional Data is optional sharing intended to improve products and features and personalize the experience. You can change this choice in settings.
This preference does not include photos and videos captured by the glasses, and changing it should not be treated as deleting data already collected. See Meta’s glasses privacy settings help page for its description of the setting.

Meta says captures remain on the glasses until you move them to your phone through the Meta AI app. After transfer, they are stored in the phone’s photo roll like other photos. Meta’s system card says deleting media from the glasses gallery also deletes Meta’s cloud copy. That claim does not establish that a transferred phone copy, a phone backup, a message attachment, or a social post is also removed.

- Check the glasses gallery in the Meta AI app for captures still associated with the glasses.
- Use the delete control shown for the gallery item you want removed. Meta documents gallery deletion but its published material does not establish a single current tap-by-tap sequence for every app version.
- Check the phone’s photo roll separately for transferred copies. Delete those there if you do not want to keep them.
- If you shared a capture elsewhere or your phone backs up photos to another service, review those locations separately.
For captures, Meta says the glasses’ notification and capture LEDs activate when taking photos or recording video for the gallery or streaming. The LEDs indicate capture activity; they do not tell you where a copy is stored or whether it has been deleted. Review Meta AI voice recordings, transcripts, and posts
Voice interactions have their own history and lifecycle; they are not the same as gallery media. Meta says voice recordings with Meta AI can be deleted. It also says deleted information will not be used for future model training, but deleting it does not immediately change a model that has already been trained on that information.

A separate Meta Help Center article distinguishes audio from text: a voice-conversation recording is initially available in history temporarily, while its text transcript remains in history. If you post a voice prompt, its recording remains available until you delete the post. Therefore, audio no longer appearing in history does not necessarily mean its transcript or a posted prompt has also gone.
- Open the Meta AI app’s voice or conversation history and inspect the entries you want to remove.
- Use the delete control displayed for the relevant recording or conversation. The precise labels and tap sequence can vary; Meta’s accessible documentation confirms deletion is available but does not publish a complete current path for every data type.
- Check for a corresponding transcript and delete it separately if the app provides that control and you want it removed.
- If the voice prompt was posted, locate and delete the post itself; deleting or waiting out an audio recording is not a substitute for removing the post.
Meta’s 2023 system card explains that a visual question can involve the glasses capturing a photo, converting speech to text, and sending the image and text to the AI model. This is a description of the processing flow, not a current retention schedule for every model, app version, or region. See Meta’s voice and video help article for the history distinctions.

Verify the locations you intended to clear
After deleting, revisit the relevant gallery or voice history and check the phone photo roll for transferred media. If you shared a file or use a separate backup service, check there too. This is a practical verification step, not a guarantee that one deletion action purges every independent copy.
