If the problem began after a Windows migration, Google support has published a dated, scenario-specific procedure for copying local data—but neither the official documentation nor forum reports promise that deleted or damaged conversations can always be recovered. Back up local state before attempting file or database changes.
First confirm whether you mean the IDE or the CLI
The IDE and the command-line interface have different conversation controls. The documented /resume picker is a CLI feature; it is not an IDE recovery command. In the CLI, conversation history is scoped to the working directory, so start Antigravity from the directory associated with the session.

/resume, then press Enter. - Search or browse the session picker and select the conversation you want to resume.

agy -candagy --continue.

Look in Agent Manager and verify the workspace
Open Agent Manager and the conversation panel, then confirm that the expected project workspace and window are open. In forum reports, users have said that opening Agent Manager exposed workspace history, and that opening a new window in a folder that was not a workspace changed what history appeared. These are anecdotal visibility checks, not guaranteed fixes. Google’s IDE overview describes conversation controls, including deletion from Agent Manager or the Editor panel; it does not document a universal undelete function.

Re-authenticate only as a low-risk check
For one report of history missing from the UI despite data in a brain folder, a Google forum support response dated September 16, 2026 recommended signing out, closing and restarting Antigravity, signing back in, and making sure the app is current. Treat this as case-specific advice, not proof that signing out restores history in other cases: the support response and report.
Back up local state before attempting recovery
Before copying, moving, deleting, or editing application data, close Antigravity and make separate copies of the relevant directories and any database files. Store the backup somewhere separate from the data you may change; an external SSD or other portable drive can serve as backup storage, but it is not a recovery tool. Preserve the original files so you can return to the starting state if a change makes matters worse.

Windows migration: the dated support procedure
On September 18, 2026, Google support representative Rebbanpalli_Naveen posted, “Please follow these steps to restore your local conversation history:” in response to a report of lost history after an update to 2.0. The reply describes a Windows-specific, migration-related procedure. It is not a general recovery recipe, and its paths should not be translated directly to macOS or Linux.
- Close Antigravity completely. The support reply says to close both Antigravity and Antigravity IDE before working with their data.
- Back up both locations. Locate the legacy and active Antigravity directories under
%APPDATA%and copy both before changing anything. - Copy the user data if it matches your migration. The reply says to copy the contents of the legacy
Userfolder—specificallyglobalStorageandworkspaceStorage—into the active directory. - Check for older Gemini folders only if relevant. The reply says to look under
%USERPROFILE%.geminifor olderbrainandconversationsfolders insideantigravity-ide. If that describes your setup, it says to copy them into%USERPROFILE%.geminiantigravity. - Do not edit the database unless the configuration matches and you have a backup. In the described scenario, the support reply says to back up
state.vscdb, delete theantigravityUnifiedStateSync.trajectorySummariesentry using SQLite, and relaunch so the app can rescan local files. This is a direct database edit: if you cannot identify the correct database and entry with confidence, stop rather than improvise. - Try conversation referencing after relaunch. The reply suggests starting a new conversation, typing
@, and selecting Conversations to reference prior conversations.
Read the full September 18, 2026 support response before applying any of these steps. It listed v2.14.0 as the latest release at the time of that reply; that dated version reference is not a statement of the current release.

Why a blank history panel does not settle whether data remains
Some forum users report that conversation files or brain folders remained on disk while the IDE’s history listing was empty or incomplete. That makes a missing sidebar insufficient evidence, by itself, that all conversation content has been deleted. But forum reports do not establish that every missing chat remains intact, that the UI can always be rebuilt, or that local files are always present. Reports after updates and sign-in changes describe different failure patterns, not one confirmed cause or universal fix: an update-related history report and a report after logout and sign-in.
Community posts also discuss scripts and manual index or database changes. Those are not established here as officially supported, safe, or consistently effective procedures. A forum report of corrupted conversation data and incomplete restoration metadata is a reason to keep a backup, not evidence that a particular tool will reconstruct a chat.

What is and is not established
Google’s documentation establishes CLI session resumption and describes deleting IDE conversations, but it does not describe a universal IDE undelete flow. Forum reports show that UI history can be missing while some local data appears to remain; they do not establish a recovery guarantee. The detailed support steps cited here apply to a particular Windows migration report, not to every update, sign-in change, operating system, deletion, or corrupted state. The official overview also says Antigravity IDE is not supported for enterprise customers and points enterprise configurations to Antigravity 2.0 or Antigravity CLI.
