The exact menu path depends on your TV or device, so don’t confuse an app reset with a factory reset of the whole television.
Choose the right kind of reset
“Reset YouTube” can mean several different things. Start with the option that matches the problem:

Reset the YouTube app for a sign-in problem
- Check for an update to YouTube and restart your TV or streaming device.
- Open the device’s Settings and look for YouTube in its app settings or installed-app list.
- Choose the reset option for YouTube, if your device offers one. YouTube’s instructions describe the action as resetting the app in Settings; they do not specify one menu path for every model. See YouTube’s sign-in troubleshooting guidance.
- Open YouTube and sign in again if needed.
Because this reset signs out a signed-in user, it is not the best first move if you only want to disconnect an account or are troubleshooting a brief playback interruption.

Fix playback errors before reinstalling
Close and reopen the app
Exit YouTube completely, then launch it again. If the error remains, restart the TV or streaming device. YouTube includes closing and reopening or rebooting among its video-error troubleshooting steps. YouTube’s video-error troubleshooting

Power-cycle the TV or device
For TV playback errors, YouTube says to unplug the device from power, wait at least 30 seconds, and plug it back in. This restarts the device; it is not an app reset. YouTube’s video-error troubleshooting
Update YouTube, then reinstall if needed
Check for updates to both the YouTube app and the device’s system software. If the problem continues, uninstall YouTube and reinstall it from the device’s app store if your platform permits. YouTube lists installation routes for LG, Samsung, Android/Google TV, Fire TV, and Roku, but the exact controls differ by device. Find YouTube’s app installation instructions

Sign out without resetting the app
If your goal is only to remove your account from the TV, use YouTube’s sign-out or account-removal controls instead of resetting the app. YouTube also documents remote sign-out methods. What if you mean YouTube TV?

When a full TV reset is being considered
A factory reset affects the television or streaming device, not just YouTube, and can remove device settings and require setup again. YouTube’s app troubleshooting guidance does not provide a universal TV factory-reset sequence. If app-level steps fail and you are considering a full reset, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your exact model rather than using a generic menu path.
