To factory-reset Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Buds Pro 2, or Pixel Buds 2a, remove them from your device’s Bluetooth list, connect the charging case to power, seat both earbuds, and hold the case’s pairing button for 30 seconds with the lid open. When the reset finishes, hold the button for 3 seconds to put the buds back into pairing mode, then connect them from your phone or computer.
Before you reset
- Use the charging case and a USB-C cable to connect it to power.
- Make sure both earbuds are seated correctly in the case and leave the lid open throughout the reset.
- In the Bluetooth settings of each phone, tablet, or computer previously connected to the buds, choose Forget or Remove for Google Pixel Buds.
A factory reset clears settings stored on the buds and case, including the device name and preferences for enabling or disabling features.

Factory-reset Pixel Buds
- Connect the charging case to power with a USB-C cable.
- Place both earbuds in the case and leave the lid open.
- Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the case for 30 seconds.
- Release the button when the earbud status light stops bouncing and turns off.
- Wait for the status light to blink orange and white, indicating that the reset is in progress. Bouncing white again means the buds are ready to pair.
Google notes that the reset will not begin if the earbuds are not placed correctly in the case. If nothing happens, reseat both earbuds and confirm the case is connected to power before trying again. See Google’s Pixel Buds reset instructions.
Pair the buds again
- Keep both earbuds in the open case and make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the device you want to connect.
- Hold the case pairing button for 3 seconds. A bouncing white light indicates pairing mode.

Open the device’s Bluetooth settings and select Google Buds to connect. If you do not see them, leave the case open with both buds seated and pairing mode active, then check the available-device list again. Google’s pairing troubleshooting guide covers devices that will not connect.

Resetting previously owned Pro 2 or 2a earbuds
Google says previously owned or refurbished Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a must be reset to transfer ownership and enable Find Hub tracking. Resetting also resets the ability to locate those models with Find Hub. After setup, add the buds to Find Hub during Fast Pair or from the Pixel Buds app or device settings. If Find when disconnected is missing, Google recommends resetting the buds and setting them up again through Fast Pair. See Google’s Find Hub guidance for Pixel Buds.
