If Hulu freezes, will not load, or keeps crashing on a Samsung Smart TV, start with a cold boot, then check the TV software and reinstall Hulu. Reset Smart Hub only if those steps fail: it signs you out of your Samsung account and apps. A Smart Hub reset is not the same as resetting the entire TV.
What “reset Hulu” can mean
There is no single Hulu reset switch. The right action depends on whether the problem is temporary, isolated to Hulu, or affecting Samsung’s app environment. Samsung’s recommended escalation for an app that will not work is cold boot, check for a software update, reinstall the app, then reset Smart Hub if needed. The full TV reset is a separate, broader operation.

Samsung’s US guidance supplies the steps and menu paths below. Menu names can differ by model, and regional support instructions are not necessarily interchangeable. If a path does not match your TV, use the instructions for its exact model on Samsung Support.
1. Cold boot the Samsung TV
Turning the TV off normally may leave it in standby. A cold boot fully shuts it down and restarts it, making this the least disruptive first step.

- With the TV on, press and hold the remote’s Power button until the TV turns off and restarts.
- If that does not work, turn the TV off and unplug it from power. Wait 30 seconds, reconnect it, and turn it on.
- Open Hulu and check whether it loads and plays normally.
The remote-button method and unplugging method are described in Samsung’s app troubleshooting instructions. Samsung Canada also recommends waiting 30 seconds before reconnecting the TV.
2. Check the TV software
Hulu says Samsung TVs receive Hulu app updates automatically. You can still check manually for a Samsung TV software update, which may resolve app problems caused by outdated TV software. On many Samsung TVs, the route is Menu > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Menu labels and their locations vary by model; Samsung’s app troubleshooting page recommends checking for software updates, and Hulu lists the manual route in its Samsung device guidance.

- Open the TV’s Menu or Settings.
- Choose Support, then Software Update.
- Select Update Now if it appears, and follow the on-screen prompts.
- When the TV finishes updating and returns to normal operation, try Hulu again.
3. Reinstall Hulu
If the problem continues but other TV functions work, reinstall Hulu to target the app itself. This removes Hulu from the TV and requires you to sign in again, so have your Hulu login details ready.
- Open Apps on the TV.
- Open the Apps screen’s Settings.
- Select Hulu. Choose Delete if available. If Delete is disabled because Hulu is a recommended app, choose Reinstall instead.
- Return to Apps, search for Hulu, and install it.
- Launch Hulu and sign in.
Samsung provides these app-management steps in its US troubleshooting instructions. If your Apps screen uses different labels, consult support for your TV model rather than choosing a full TV reset as a substitute.

4. Reset Smart Hub if the earlier steps fail
Smart Hub reset is a broader step than reinstalling Hulu. Samsung states: “When you reset Smart Hub, the TV will sign you out of your Samsung account and all of your apps.” It also resets Smart Hub settings. Make sure you know your Samsung account login before continuing; you may also need to sign in to apps again.

- 2019-and-later TVs: Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
If prompted for a PIN, Samsung says the default is 0000 if it has not been changed. The route or labels may differ on your model or in your region. Samsung Australia notes that its information applies to Australian products and that models and sequences vary by location and purchase region; use your local Samsung support page or the TV’s model-specific instructions if these steps do not match.

Reset Smart Hub targets Samsung’s app environment and signs you out of the Samsung account and apps. The TV’s full Reset function is broader. Samsung says that full Reset is unavailable while you are inside an app such as Hulu; exit the app before navigating TV settings. For Hulu trouble, follow the narrower sequence above and reserve a full TV reset for a separate reason, using the instructions specific to your model.
