There is no single reset sequence for every Logitech remote. First identify whether you have a handheld Harmony remote or a Harmony Hub, then choose the action you need: reboot a frozen remote, reset an unresponsive one, recover a Harmony 600/650/700 in safe mode, or factory-reset the Hub. These procedures are not interchangeable.
Choose the right reset for your Logitech Harmony device
| Device or problem | Procedure | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Frozen Harmony handheld remote | Hold Off until the LCD turns off and back on | Reboots the remote; Logitech distinguishes this from a reset. [Logitech Support] |
| Nonresponsive Harmony handheld remote | Hold Off and Menu for 25 seconds, until the reboot arrow appears | Erases device and activity information; Logitech says the configuration can be restored from your myharmony.com account. [Logitech Support] |
| Harmony 600, 650, or 700 showing a problem that calls for safe-mode recovery | Remove a battery, hold All Off, and reinsert the battery; then connect to a computer and sync | Starts the model-specific safe-mode recovery process. [Logitech Support] |
| Harmony Hub | Use the Pair/Reset button on the Hub while reconnecting power | Factory-resets the Hub; add it back to your account afterward. [Logitech Support] |
Reboot a frozen Harmony remote
If the handheld remote is frozen but you want to try a restart first, press and hold the Off button until the LCD turns off and then back on. Logitech describes this as a reboot, not a reset. It does not use the Off-and-Menu reset sequence.

Reset a nonresponsive handheld remote
- Press and hold Off and Menu together.
- Keep holding both buttons for 25 seconds. Do not release them until the reboot arrow appears.
- After the remote restarts, restore its device and activity configuration from your myharmony.com account if needed.
Logitech warns that this procedure erases device and activity information. Do not treat it as a harmless reboot or assume it is a universal factory wipe. Logitech’s separate guidance says a Harmony remote cannot be reset back to factory default settings and recommends changing individual settings for programming problems. The documented button reset for a nonresponsive remote is a distinct procedure. [Nonresponsive-remote procedure; factory-default guidance]
Recover a Harmony 600, 650, or 700 in safe mode
- Remove one battery from the remote.
- Press and hold the All Off button.
- While holding All Off, reinsert the battery.
- When the screen indicates safe mode, connect the remote to a computer and sync it.
This sequence is specifically for Harmony 600, 650, and 700 remotes; do not assume it applies to other models. Logitech recommends contacting support if the problem continues. You need a suitable cable to connect the remote, but Logitech’s cited instructions do not specify its connector type, so check your exact model before obtaining one. [Logitech Support]
#1 Best Overall
- No need for multiple remotes or remembering what to turn on or which input setting to use. Just press one button and Harmony does it all for you.
- Say goodbye to that jumble of remotes once and for all. Combine up to 10 old-fashioned remotes into one.
- Go directly to the shows, movies, and music you love with 23 customizable channel favorites.
- If things get off track, on-screen help will walk you through the steps to get everything working again.
- Harmony does the setup work for you. There are no confusing button combinations to press or codes to enter. Get to using your remote faster, with less frustration.
Factory-reset a Harmony Hub
The Hub procedure is for the separate Hub unit, not the handheld remote. Locate the Pair/Reset button on the back of the Hub.
- Unplug the Hub’s power adapter.
- Press and hold the Pair/Reset button while reconnecting the power adapter.
- Watch the front LED; when it flickers red, release the button.
- Add the Hub back to your account.
Follow this only when you intend to factory-reset the Hub. [Logitech Support]

- If a reboot did not resolve a freeze, use the nonresponsive-remote reset only if you accept that device and activity information will be erased.
- If the display enters safe mode on a Harmony 600, 650, or 700, complete the computer sync rather than stopping after the button sequence.
- If the Hub procedure does not resolve the issue, consult Logitech Support for that Hub and setup.
