You can restart a Bose Smart Soundbar 700 without its remote: unplug the soundbar for 30 seconds, reconnect it, and allow about 30 seconds to reboot. Restart the Soundbar 700 without a remote
- Turn off the soundbar.
- Unplug its power cord from the soundbar or the wall outlet.
- If you use accessories, unplug the bass module and surround-speaker power as well. Bose specifically advises disconnecting both surround-speaker receivers.
- Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect power to the soundbar.
- Allow about 30 seconds for the soundbar to reboot.
- Reconnect accessory power if you disconnected it.
This power cycle is Bose’s documented reset for minor processor errors. It is the remote-free option, but it is not a way to erase the saved configuration.

Bose’s Soundbar 700 instructions specify holding the remote’s Power and Skip forward buttons simultaneously for five seconds. The light bar blinks twice as the soundbar reboots. When the reset is complete, a steady amber light indicates setup mode.

Before resetting, Bose’s standard guidance says to remove the product from your Bose account. If Alexa or Google Assistant is configured, follow Bose’s additional guidance for removing the assistant before proceeding. The Soundbar 700 owner’s guide says a factory reset clears source, volume, network, and ADAPTiQ audio calibration settings.
What to do if the remote is missing
For a restart, use the power-cycle procedure above. If you need to restore factory defaults, Bose’s documented button combination means you will need a compatible replacement remote. Confirm compatibility with the Soundbar 700 before buying; an unverified third-party remote should not be assumed to work.

Bose’s cited Soundbar 700 instructions do not document using the phone app to initiate this factory reset, so do not rely on the app as a remote-free substitute for the button combination.

After the soundbar returns to setup mode, use the Bose app to set it up again and restore network and audio settings. Rerun ADAPTiQ audio calibration, which was cleared by the factory reset. Bose provides setup guidance in its Soundbar 700 app instructions.
