Lenovo is a diversified hardware, infrastructure and services company—not simply a PC maker. The investment case depends on whether rapid revenue growth, expanding AI infrastructure and recurring services can produce durable reported profits and cash flow despite tariffs, export controls, component costs and geopolitical exposure. Lenovo reported US$83.1 billion of FY2025/26 revenue, up 20% year on year, and US$2 billion of adjusted net income, up 42%. Those figures are encouraging, but an investor still needs to reconcile adjusted results with statutory results, examine segment margins, and test whether AI growth creates returns above its capital and supply-chain risks.
What you are buying when you buy Lenovo
Lenovo Group Limited is headquartered in Hong Kong and trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under code 992. Its American depositary receipt trades under ticker LNVGY. The company sells personal computers, workstations, smartphones, tablets, accessories, servers and other infrastructure, as well as software, solutions and support services.

That breadth changes how the shares should be analysed. A PC cycle can weaken while infrastructure demand accelerates; smartphone volumes can move differently from enterprise services; and a high-growth AI product can carry very different margins from a mature notebook. Treat Lenovo as several businesses connected by a global supply chain, not as one product line.
The first decision is therefore not “Is Lenovo stock good?” It is “Which parts of Lenovo are generating growth, profit and cash, and what could prevent that performance from lasting?”

Lenovo’s reported financial baseline
The following figures are reported by Lenovo for its fiscal years and should not be mixed with estimates or market forecasts. Lenovo labels its adjusted or non-HKFRS measures separately from reported accounting results.
| Period | Revenue | Revenue growth | Profit measure | Profit growth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FY2024/25 | US$69.1 billion | 21% year on year | US$1.4 billion non-HKFRS net income | 36% year on year |
| FY2025/26 | US$83.1 billion | 20% year on year | US$2.0 billion adjusted net income | 42% year on year |
| Q1 FY2026/27 | US$26.943 billion | Not stated in Lenovo’s reported figures | US$1.075 billion adjusted profit attributable to equity holders; US$19 million reported operating profit | Not stated in Lenovo’s reported figures |
Revenue rose by roughly US$14 billion between FY2024/25 and FY2025/26. The reported growth rates are close to, but not exactly, the result of dividing the rounded revenue figures, because Lenovo presents rounded numbers and fiscal-period comparisons. Use the company’s stated percentages when modelling rather than implying greater precision.
Adjusted net income is not the same as statutory net income. Before relying on the 42% increase, identify the adjustments, determine whether they are recurring, and compare adjusted operating profit, reported operating profit, net income and operating cash flow. A company can show strong adjusted earnings while cash conversion or reported profit remains weaker.

Intelligent Devices Group
The Intelligent Devices Group (IDG), which includes PCs, tablets, smartphones, accessories and related devices, generated US$58.9 billion of FY2025/26 revenue according to Lenovo. This is the largest disclosed business and gives Lenovo scale in a competitive, cyclical market.
For this segment, examine unit demand, average selling prices, premium versus entry-level mix, commercial versus consumer customers, inventory and channel promotions. Revenue growth without margin improvement may simply reflect higher component prices or a shift toward lower-profit volume. A durable thesis needs evidence that premium devices, commercial refresh cycles and attached accessories or services are supporting profitability.
Infrastructure Solutions Group
The Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) produced US$19.2 billion of FY2025/26 revenue. In FY2024/25, Lenovo said ISG revenue increased 63% to US$14.5 billion. That acceleration is central to the AI story, because servers and data-centre systems can grow faster than PCs but often require substantial capital, engineering and supply-chain investment.
Do not treat ISG revenue as equivalent to high-margin software revenue. Ask how much growth comes from AI servers, conventional enterprise systems, storage, services or large projects; whether customer concentration is increasing; and whether gross margin, operating margin and cash flow are improving as sales scale.

Solutions and Services Group
Lenovo said Solutions and Services Group (SSG) revenue exceeded US$10 billion in FY2025/26. Services can make results less dependent on one-time hardware purchases when contracts renew and customers adopt support, managed services, deployment or other solutions.
“Exceeded US$10 billion” is a threshold, not a precise figure. For valuation, obtain the exact revenue, recurring-revenue mix, renewal rates, backlog, margin and cash-collection data from the relevant filing. The disclosed IDG, ISG and SSG figures should not be added mechanically to group revenue without checking Lenovo’s segment definitions and any eliminations.
What Lenovo’s AI growth actually tells an investor
Lenovo reported that AI-related revenue doubled year on year and represented 33% of group revenue in FY2025/26. Management describes a “Hybrid AI” strategy spanning personal and enterprise AI. Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang wrote: “I believe Lenovo is well positioned to seize the AI democratization opportunity to deliver growth and create value for our shareholders.”
A doubling rate is significant, but the percentage alone does not establish economic quality. Before assigning a higher valuation, separate AI-enabled PCs and smartphones from AI servers, infrastructure, services and software. Their selling cycles, margins, replacement periods and investment requirements differ.
Recommended Free Tools
- Revenue definition: determine which products and services Lenovo counts as AI-related and whether the definition changed.
- Profitability: request gross margin and operating margin for AI offerings, not just their share of sales.
- Demand quality: distinguish signed orders, shipped systems, backlog and recognized revenue.
- Capital intensity: assess inventory, receivables, manufacturing capacity, research and development and customer-financing needs.
- Competitive durability: evaluate whether Lenovo owns differentiated technology or is primarily integrating components from suppliers.
- Execution: check delivery times, shortages, warranty costs, utilization and customer concentration.
Lenovo has also stated an ambition to reach US$100 billion in revenue. That is management’s target, not an independent forecast. Treat it as a scenario to test: calculate the growth rate required, identify the segments expected to supply it, and ask what margins and capital spending would accompany that expansion.
Read the latest quarter for quality, not just headline growth
In Q1 FY2026/27, Lenovo reported US$26.943 billion of revenue and US$1.075 billion of adjusted profit attributable to equity holders. It also reported only US$19 million of operating profit on a reported basis. The unusually wide difference makes reconciliation essential.
- Locate the quarter’s reported income statement and start with statutory operating profit.
- List every adjustment used to calculate adjusted profit, including its tax effect and whether management expects it to recur.
- Compare adjusted and reported results with operating cash flow, capital expenditure, inventory and receivables.
- Check whether the gap reflects a one-time accounting item, acquisition-related cost, restructuring, valuation movement or another disclosed cause.
- Compare the quarter with the same quarter of the prior fiscal year and with the immediately preceding quarter, recognising seasonality.
Do not extrapolate the US$19 million reported operating profit or the US$1.075 billion adjusted profit into a full-year forecast without understanding the reconciliation and seasonal pattern. The point of the quarter is diagnostic: it shows why a headline adjusted number cannot substitute for a complete earnings review.

A practical, step-by-step Lenovo investment investigation
1. Confirm the security and your dealing costs
Decide whether you are analysing the Hong Kong-listed ordinary shares (HKEX 992) or the LNVGY ADR. Verify the ADR ratio, trading venue, currency conversion, custody charges, tax treatment, dividend withholding and trading hours with your broker. These details affect the return you actually receive and are separate from Lenovo’s operating performance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Build a five-year financial worksheet
Collect annual revenue, gross profit, operating profit, reported net income, adjusted or non-HKFRS net income, operating cash flow, capital expenditure, total debt, cash, share count and dividends. Keep reported and adjusted columns side by side. Mark acquisitions, disposals, accounting changes and major restructuring so that trend lines do not disguise a change in business scope.
3. Reconstruct segment economics
For IDG, ISG and SSG, record revenue growth, operating profit, margin, regional exposure and any disclosed backlog or order information. Calculate each segment’s share of group revenue, then investigate why that share changed. A fast-growing segment that dilutes margins may require a different valuation from a slower segment with dependable cash generation.
4. Test AI claims against cash and margins
Define “AI revenue” using Lenovo’s own disclosures, then track the definition each quarter. Compare AI growth with research and development, inventory, receivables, capital expenditure and operating cash flow. If AI revenue doubles while cash conversion deteriorates or margins fall, the growth may be less valuable than the headline suggests.
5. Examine geographic and customer concentration
Map revenue and production by region where disclosures allow. Identify exposure to countries affected by tariffs, export controls or data-localization rules. Check whether a small number of cloud, public-sector or enterprise customers account for a material share of infrastructure sales.

6. Reconcile earnings to cash
Start with reported net income and bridge to operating cash flow. Investigate working-capital movements, especially inventory and trade receivables, because hardware growth can consume cash before customers pay. Subtract sustaining capital expenditure and consider acquisition spending before treating free cash flow as available for dividends or debt reduction.
7. Review financing and dilution
Measure gross debt, net debt, maturities, interest expense, lease obligations and any convertible-bond exposure. Check whether potential conversion could dilute existing shareholders. Compare dividend payments with free cash flow rather than with adjusted earnings alone, and inspect the share count over time.

| Risk | How it can affect Lenovo | What to monitor |
|---|---|---|
| Macroeconomic volatility | Businesses and consumers may delay device refreshes, reducing volume and pricing power. | Commercial orders, consumer demand, inventory and promotional activity. |
| Geopolitical tensions | Trade restrictions, sanctions or political decisions can limit customers, suppliers or production locations. | Regional revenue, manufacturing footprint and management guidance. |
| Export controls | Restrictions on advanced chips or systems can prevent sales into particular markets or raise compliance costs. | Product eligibility, affected regions and disclosures about lost or delayed orders. |
| Tariffs | Import duties can raise landed costs or force price increases that weaken demand. | Country-specific duties, sourcing changes and gross margin. |
| Data-localization mandates | Rules requiring local storage or processing can increase infrastructure cost and restrict standard deployments. | Local hosting requirements, contract terms and regional capital expenditure. |
| Component shortages and price inflation | Scarce chips, memory or other parts can delay shipments and compress margins. Lenovo said it was navigating supply shortages and rising component costs in FY2025/26. | Lead times, bill-of-materials costs, backlog, inventory and pricing actions. |
| Supplier concentration | Dependence on a limited number of suppliers creates disruption and bargaining risk. | Alternative sourcing, single-source components and supplier financial health. |
| Cyberattacks | Breaches can interrupt operations, expose customer data, create remediation costs and damage trust. | Incident disclosures, security investment and customer contract obligations. |
| Natural disasters | Earthquakes, floods, fires or extreme weather can interrupt factories, logistics or suppliers. | Facility concentration, business-continuity plans and insurance coverage. |
| ESG and labor issues | Supply-chain violations can lead to legal costs, lost contracts, reputational harm or sourcing disruption. | Supplier audits, remediation, labor disclosures and customer procurement standards. |
These risks are interconnected. A tariff can coincide with a component shortage; an export-control change can strand inventory; and a cyber incident can delay service revenue while increasing compliance costs. Model combined stress cases instead of applying each risk in isolation.

How to compare Lenovo with alternatives
A useful comparison uses the same fiscal periods, accounting definitions and currency conventions for every company. Compare operating economics rather than simply ranking market capitalizations.
| Comparison axis | Questions to answer | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue growth and geography | Is growth organic, acquisition-driven or currency-driven? How diversified are customers and regions? | Shows whether expansion is repeatable and how exposed the company is to one market. |
| Reported versus adjusted profit | How large are adjustments, and do they recur? | Prevents a lower-quality earnings stream from receiving the same valuation as statutory profit. |
| Business mix | What proportion comes from PCs, smartphones, infrastructure and services? | Mix determines cyclicality, margins, capital needs and competitive dynamics. |
| AI economics | What counts as AI revenue, what are its margins, and how much R&D is required? | Separates profitable adoption from revenue that merely adds hardware volume. |
| Cash, leverage and dilution | Does cash flow cover investment and dividends? Are debt or convertibles increasing? | Tests balance-sheet resilience and per-share value creation. |
| Risk sensitivity | How would tariffs, export controls, component inflation, cyber events or supply disruption affect results? | Reveals whether apparent diversification works under stress. |
| Valuation | What multiples are investors paying for comparable growth, margins and cash flow? | A good business can still be a poor investment if expectations are excessive. |
For PC comparisons, use commercial mix, premium-device share and inventory discipline. For infrastructure comparisons, focus on operating margin, backlog quality, customer concentration and cash conversion. For services comparisons, examine recurring revenue, renewal rates and delivery capacity. One blended price-to-earnings multiple can hide these differences.
Questions to answer before buying
- What portion of the latest growth came from IDG, ISG and SSG, and which segment supplied the profit increase?
- Why did adjusted profit grow faster than revenue, and can that improvement be reproduced in reported results?
- What exactly is included in the 33% AI-related revenue figure, and what margin does it earn?
- Can Lenovo reach its US$100 billion revenue ambition without materially increasing leverage, dilution or capital intensity?
- How much of the business could be affected by a new tariff, export-control rule or data-localization requirement?
- Are current inventory and receivable levels consistent with healthy demand, or are they financing growth?
- Does the dividend remain covered after necessary capital expenditure and working-capital investment?
- What event would make you sell: a margin threshold, a cash-flow deterioration, a balance-sheet change or a loss of market access?
Bottom line
Lenovo’s case rests on real scale and strong reported momentum: FY2025/26 revenue reached US$83.1 billion, adjusted net income reached US$2 billion, AI-related revenue doubled, and infrastructure and services expanded alongside the core devices business. The counterweight is equally important. Lenovo operates across volatile hardware markets and faces supply, trade, geopolitical, cyber and execution risks; Q1 FY2026/27 also demonstrates why adjusted earnings must be reconciled with reported operating profit.
Lenovo may suit an investor seeking diversified exposure to devices, enterprise infrastructure and the build-out of hybrid AI, provided the valuation leaves room for those risks. It is not possible to call the shares attractive from revenue growth alone. Refresh the current HKEX or ADR price, read the latest filing, verify cash-flow and segment-margin trends, and buy only if your valuation still works after a downside case for tariffs, component costs and weaker AI profitability.
