A cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically reverse a charge that has already posted. The correct refund route depends on whether the receipt shows direct Google billing, Google Play, Apple, or a third-party merchant, as well as your country, the time since purchase, and whether you recognize the transaction.
First, identify what kind of charge you have
Before submitting a request, determine both the billing channel and the nature of the charge. A recognized renewal that you no longer want is handled as a subscription-refund request. A finalized transaction that you do not recognize, and that nobody you know made, is handled as a possible unauthorized transaction. Sending the wrong type of request can delay the result or trigger account restrictions.

Check the email receipt, your Google Account subscription list, Google Play subscriptions, Apple purchase history, and payments.google.com. The merchant and order details shown there determine which policy applies.

Cancellation is a preventative step, not a refund decision. It normally leaves the already-posted charge in place while preventing the next billing event.

Cancel a subscription managed by Google
- Open the Google Account that received the receipt.
- Go to the subscriptions area and select Google AI Pro or the associated Google One plan.
- Choose the option to manage or cancel the subscription.
- Complete the confirmation screens and save the cancellation confirmation.
If the plan is not listed, check every Google Account you use. A subscription can be attached to a different account from the one currently signed in.
Cancel a Google Play subscription
- Open Google Play with the account shown on the receipt.
- Open your profile menu, choose Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Google AI Pro or the related Google One subscription.
- Tap or click Cancel subscription and finish the reason and confirmation steps.
Keep the cancellation date and order number. They are useful if the charge occurred after you believe you canceled.
Cancel when Apple is the billing provider
Apple-managed subscriptions are controlled from the Apple Account that made the purchase. Open Apple purchase or subscription history, select the Google AI Pro transaction, and follow Apple’s cancellation instructions. If you cannot find an Apple receipt, do not assume Apple billed you; return to the merchant information on the charge.
Request a refund for direct Google One or Google AI Pro billing
When Google is the merchant, use the Google product or Google One support route rather than Google Play or Apple. Google Pay Help states that a refund request for a Google product or service must go to that specific product’s support team.
Prepare the request
- The Google Account email used for the subscription
- The order or transaction ID from the receipt or
payments.google.com - The charge date, amount, currency, and country or region
- The date you canceled, if you already canceled
- A short explanation that the charge was an unwanted renewal and whether you used any new benefits after the renewal
Ask directly for a refund of the identified transaction. Do not describe a recognized renewal as fraud; the unauthorized-transaction route is reserved for a different situation.

Understand the default policy
Google’s Google One policy says that, in most countries and regions, Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable. Google AI Pro is tied to Google One storage and membership benefits, so approval is not automatic merely because you canceled soon after the charge. The support team applies the policy for your location, purchase channel, timing, and account history.
Check regional exceptions
Residents of the European Economic Area have a 14-day withdrawal option for Google One purchases. Exercising that option can end access to member benefits immediately, so consider the effect on storage and other included features before submitting it. The same policy describes special partial-refund or withdrawal rules for some purchases in Israel. Those rights depend on the applicable local rules and the transaction details; ask Google to assess the order rather than assuming the EEA rule applies elsewhere.

There is no published approval rate or universal refund-processing time that can be promised for Google AI Pro.
Request a refund when Google Play billed you
Use Google Play’s refund-request flow when the order is a Google Play transaction. Google says requests made within 48 hours may be eligible, depending on the details. “May be eligible” is not a guarantee: the decision can still depend on the reason, account, product, and regional rules.
Within 48 hours
- Sign in to Google Play with the purchasing account.
- Open the Google Play refund request option and select the Google AI Pro or Google One order.
- Choose the closest reason, explain that the renewal was unwanted, and submit the request.
- Save the confirmation and watch the email address associated with the Google Account.
More than 48 hours after purchase
Google’s guidance says to contact the developer after the 48-hour window. For a Google service, use the applicable Google One or product-support route and include the Play order ID. Do not submit a Google unauthorized-transaction claim simply because the 48-hour period passed; an unwanted, recognized renewal remains a subscription dispute.

If the Play order is missing
Check that you are signed in to the account shown on the Play receipt and that the charge is not an Apple or direct-Google transaction. A bank statement can show a Google descriptor even when the underlying order is managed through a different channel, so the receipt and order record take priority.
If Apple charged your account, request the refund from Apple
Apple App Store purchasers must use Apple’s refund process. Google’s Google One policy directs Apple-billed customers to Apple Support because Google does not control the App Store payment, cancellation state, or refund decision.
- Sign in to the Apple Account that made the purchase.
- Open Apple’s purchase history and locate the Google AI Pro transaction.
- Submit Apple’s refund request with the transaction selected and explain that the renewal was not wanted.
- Cancel the subscription in Apple settings if it is still active, so another renewal does not occur.
If Apple cannot locate the transaction, compare the receipt sender, order number, and merchant descriptor with the charge. Then use the channel that actually issued the receipt.
Handle an unrecognized charge as a possible unauthorized transaction
Use this route only after checking whether the charge was made by a family member, friend, colleague, or another person who has access to your payment method. Google distinguishes a known person’s purchase from a transaction that is genuinely unrecognized.
When Google’s unauthorized form is appropriate
- The transaction is finalized, not merely pending.
- You cannot find it in the relevant Google Account or recognize the account that made it.
- You have confirmed that nobody you know made the purchase.
- The transaction is less than four months old; Google’s form states this age limit.
Submit the details through Google’s unauthorized-transaction form. Provide the exact amount, date, payment method information requested, and any order identifier. Do not file this form for a normal renewal you simply regret: Google warns that an unauthorized-transaction filing may temporarily or permanently affect the account’s ability to pay.

Secure the account while the claim is reviewed
- Change the Google Account password if you suspect someone accessed it.
- Review recent sign-ins, recovery methods, and devices.
- Remove unfamiliar payment methods or revoke access you do not recognize.
- Ask your bank or card issuer about replacing a compromised card if the payment details may have been exposed.
If the transaction is still pending, wait until it is finalized before using the form, because Google’s stated form criteria require a finalized charge. Keep monitoring the account and card in the meantime.

A Google Pay or Google Wallet appearance on a statement does not necessarily mean Google sold you Google AI Pro. If another merchant is named in the receipt or order details, that merchant controls the subscription and refund.
- Contact the merchant listed on the receipt and request cancellation and a refund.
- Give the merchant its order number, charge date, amount, and the date you tried to cancel.
- Keep the correspondence and any cancellation confirmation.
- If the merchant does not resolve the matter, contact your bank or card issuer about the available dispute process.
Google Pay Help says Google cannot directly issue refunds or cancel external subscriptions. Opening a Google product-support case will not substitute for contacting the merchant that received the money.
Use this decision path before you submit anything

What to do when you were charged after canceling
First compare the cancellation timestamp with the renewal timestamp and verify that both refer to the same Google Account and billing channel. A cancellation made after the renewal was processed can stop the next cycle without reversing the current one. If you canceled before the charge, send the confirmation, order ID, and timestamps to the team that billed you.
Also check for a second subscription. Multiple Google Accounts, a Play subscription alongside direct Google billing, or an Apple subscription can create what appears to be a duplicate charge. Match each charge to its receipt before requesting a refund.
What to expect after submitting a request
Google says refund decisions are sent by email. Check the inbox and spam folder for the account used to make the purchase. To check the order yourself, sign in to payments.google.com, open the relevant order, and look for the status Refunded.
A submitted request is not proof that a refund was approved. If the order remains unchanged, read the decision email and follow the appeal or support instructions it provides. Avoid submitting multiple contradictory claims for the same transaction, especially an unauthorized claim after you have already identified the purchase as your own renewal.
Information that makes a support request easier to resolve
- Exact merchant name shown on the receipt
- Google Account or Apple Account email used for payment
- Order or transaction ID
- Charge date, amount, currency, and country
- Subscription name and the date you canceled
- Whether you used storage or other AI Pro benefits after the charge
- Screenshots of the receipt and cancellation confirmation, with full card numbers and security codes hidden
A concise explanation is best: identify the order, state whether you recognize the renewal, give the cancellation date, and ask for the specific remedy. Do not send passwords, one-time verification codes, or complete payment-card details.

Common mistakes that delay a refund
- Canceling but never requesting a refund: cancellation addresses future renewals only.
- Using Google Play for an Apple purchase: the store that billed the transaction must decide the refund.
- Waiting past the Play window without changing routes: after 48 hours, Google says to contact the developer or applicable product support.
- Calling a recognized renewal fraud: use the subscription-refund route unless nobody you know made the charge.
- Filing the unauthorized form for a pending payment: the stated criteria require a finalized transaction.
- Ignoring geography: Google One’s default non-refundable policy has location-specific exceptions, including the EEA withdrawal option and certain Israel rules.
- Assuming every Google Pay descriptor is a Google subscription: an external merchant may be the actual seller.
The practical answer
Cancel first, identify the merchant second, and submit one accurate request through that merchant’s channel. Direct Google One and Google AI Pro refunds are generally restricted; Google Play requests made within 48 hours may be eligible; Apple-billed purchases go to Apple; and genuinely unauthorized finalized charges less than four months old belong in Google’s unauthorized-transaction process. Check the decision email and the order status at payments.google.com, and do not treat any route as a guaranteed approval.
