Request the refund from the store or retailer that processed your payment—not necessarily the game’s publisher. Find the transaction, check that seller’s deadline and playtime rules, then submit through its official support route. Explain when the game stopped working and what happens when you try to launch it. A technical failure is worth reporting, but it does not automatically override a store’s normal eligibility limits.
Start with the seller that took your payment
Check your receipt, account order history, activation receipt, or payment record to identify the point of sale. The publisher’s name on the game does not tell you which company handles the refund. For example, if you bought an EA game through Steam or Epic Games Store, submit the request to Steam or Epic—not EA.

Once you identify the seller, gather the purchase date, first-launch date, recorded playtime or runtime, and—if relevant—the game’s release date. Also check whether the transaction is for a full game, downloadable content (DLC), or a bundle. Eligibility can depend on these details and on the purchase type or your location.
Check the seller’s refund rules
The following summarizes the official storefront policies checked on October 4, 2026. The signed-in order page and current policy for your actual purchase are the best place to confirm eligibility.

- With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
- Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
- A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
- The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
| Store | Standard window and request route | What to know if the game no longer works |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | Valve says it will refund a title requested within 14 days of purchase and played for less than two hours. Start at Steam Help and select the purchase. | Steam says you can request a refund through its instructions if the game does not support your operating system. A technical failure outside the usual window is not guaranteed to qualify; describe the problem and ask support to review it. |
| Epic Games Store | Eligible PC and Mac purchases marked “refundable” or “self-refundable” qualify within 14 days of purchase, with less than two hours of runtime. For pre-purchases, the window is 14 days after release. Use Account > Transactions for a self-refundable order; contact Player Support for a refundable order. | Check the order’s refund label and recorded runtime. Epic’s policy does not promise a general exception for technical failures. If you purchased through another seller, contact that seller instead. |
| GOG | Contact GOG support within 30 days of purchase. If GOG cannot resolve the issue, it says it will offer a full refund. You can apply from Order History. | Report the technical fault and give support the opportunity to try to resolve it within the published period. This is not described as a no-questions-asked return. |
| EA app or EA.com | For eligible full EA downloads and participating third-party games, request a refund through EA’s Refund Tool within 24 hours of first launch, within 14 days of purchase if never launched, or any time before release for a pre-order. | A narrower rule applies to a new EA game bought within 30 days of release that cannot be played for technical reasons within EA’s control: EA allows a request within 72 hours of first launch. EA identifies issues such as server problems, bugs, and other technical issues on its side. This does not cover every older game or every cause of failure. A game bought elsewhere must be taken to that seller. |
| Ubisoft Store | For digital PC games bought from the Ubisoft Store or Connect, request within 14 days if playtime is no more than two hours. Use Store Order History. | Ubisoft says its commercial refund policy does not override statutory rights for faulty or non-conforming products. Purchases through Steam, Epic, a console store, or another retailer follow that seller’s policy. |
Submit a clear, timely request
- Open the official refund or support route. Sign in to the account that made the purchase and select the actual transaction. Use the seller’s stated route: for example, Steam Help; Epic’s Account > Transactions or Player Support; GOG Order History; EA’s Refund Tool; or Ubisoft Store Order History.
- Describe the failure factually. Say when the game last worked, when the problem began, what happens when you launch it, and any error message. Include relevant PC and operating-system details, plus troubleshooting steps you have already tried. This checklist can help support understand the issue; it is not a universal evidence requirement published by every store.
- Submit before the relevant deadline if a refund is your priority. Do not let troubleshooting consume a stated refund window. You can file the request first and explain what you have already tested.
- Save the record. Keep the transaction receipt, error text or screenshots, confirmation, ticket number, and support replies. If the automated option does not fit the problem, contact the seller’s support route and explain why you are requesting a review.
If the request is denied
Ask the seller to review the decision. Point to the transaction, purchase and launch dates, recorded playtime or runtime, and the specific failure. Keep the explanation focused on what happened rather than asserting that every technical problem qualifies for an exception.
Store policies are commercial rules, not necessarily the full extent of a buyer’s rights. Local consumer protections may apply depending on your jurisdiction and the facts—for example, whether the product was faulty or did not conform to its description. Ubisoft explicitly notes that its commercial policy does not override statutory rights; check the rules that apply where you bought the game if you believe your legal rights are relevant.
