How to Report Malicious or Compromised Content on Hugging Face

Use Hugging Face’s repository or comment reporting controls for suspicious content. Learn when to contact safety, security, DMCA, or Australia’s online-safety address.

Use Hugging Face’s in-platform Report controls or email [email protected] to report suspicious repositories, comments, or other content-policy violations. For a platform security incident or vulnerability, contact [email protected]. Copyright claims and Australian illegal-content reports have separate routes.

Choose the right reporting route

What you’re reporting Where to report it
A suspicious repository, comment, or other suspected content-policy violation Use the relevant in-platform Report option or email [email protected]. Hugging Face Content Policy
A platform security incident or vulnerability Email [email protected]. Hugging Face security documentation
Copyright or other intellectual-property infringement Use the DMCA notice process at [email protected]. Hugging Face Content Policy
Illegal content reported by an Australian resident Email [email protected]. Hugging Face Content Policy

Malware or phishing hosted in a repository is generally a content-policy concern; an issue affecting Hugging Face’s platform or its security is a security concern. If a situation involves both, report the content through the appropriate moderation route and send the security concern to the security address.

Other content

For suspected policy violations that do not fit the repository or comment flow, use an available in-platform Report option or email [email protected]. Hugging Face’s Content Policy restricts, among other things, phishing, scams, spam, content intended to transmit or generate malicious code, and content facilitating unauthorized access. What to include in a report

The official flows request a reason and description. Identify the repository or comment and state the observable behavior that concerns you. Keep the description factual and add relevant context, such as where in the repository or discussion the behavior appears. The official sources do not specify a mandatory evidence checklist.

Reports are Community Content under Hugging Face’s policy, and abusive flagging—such as using reports for spam or harassment—is not tolerated. Hugging Face Content Policy

What happens after you report

Hugging Face says it reviews reports case by case to determine whether the content violates its policy. When possible, it says it will handle repository reports collaboratively with the repository owner and concerned party. Possible actions include requesting changes, unranking content, adding a Not for All Audiences tag, restricting interactions, disabling access, removing content, or suspending or terminating an account. The policy does not promise a response time or a particular result. Hugging Face Content Policy

If an account may be compromised

Include the relevant account or repository details in your report. As precautions—not guaranteed remedies for every compromise—Hugging Face recommended rotating access tokens and reviewing recent account activity in a security disclosure published July 16, 2026. Send platform security concerns to [email protected]. Hugging Face’s July 16, 2026 security disclosure

In that disclosure, Hugging Face said a malicious dataset had abused two code-execution paths in its data-processing pipeline. The company said it had found no evidence of tampering with public user-facing models, datasets, or Spaces and that the software supply chain was verified clean. Those statements describe the incident disclosed on that date, not a guarantee about other incidents.

Hub security features include access tokens, resource groups, multi-factor authentication, commit signatures, malware scanning, pickle scanning, and secrets scanning. These measures do not replace reporting suspicious material. Hugging Face security documentation

Submit a copyright or other IP claim

Use the separate DMCA process and send an accurate, detailed notice to [email protected]. Hugging Face also describes a counter-notification route for uploaders. For a qualifying counter-notification, the claimant has 14 U.S. business days to take legal action to prevent restoration; this is a period in the policy, not a general response-time promise.
