Report the error to the company whose map shows it: Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, or TomTom each has a separate feedback route. Pinpoint the location, identify what is wrong, and state what the map should show instead. A report is a request for review—not a guaranteed correction or a promise of a particular turnaround time.
First, identify the kind of map error
Choose the closest description before opening the report form. A road missing from the map is different from a road that no longer exists; a wrong street name is different from an incorrect address; and a misplaced business pin is different from a business that has closed. Map feedback systems distinguish among these kinds of errors, and a precise report is easier to understand.

- Road error: A road is missing, incorrectly drawn or named, no longer present, or incorrectly marked as closed.
- Address error: The address is missing, wrong, or placed at the wrong location.
- Place error: A business or other feature is missing or pinned in the wrong spot.
- Directions error: A route includes a wrong turn or other incorrect step.
- Closure: Specify whether it is temporary or permanent if the reporting form asks.
Submit the report to the provider whose map contains the error. A correction sent to one provider is not documented as automatically updating other navigation apps.

Google Maps: report an incorrect route step
Google’s documented instructions cover a wrong step in a driving, walking, cycling, or other supported route. They describe reporting from a computer, and say the feature is available only in some countries or regions; transit directions are excluded. The desktop path is:

- Open Google Maps and select Directions.
- Enter the starting point and destination, then select the affected route.
- Select Details.
- Choose Send Product Feedback and flag the incorrect step.
These instructions are specifically for an incorrect route step, not the universal method for a missing road, wrong address, or misplaced place. Waze: report through Live Map or in the app
On Waze’s Live Map, sign in, search for the address, right-click the pin, choose Report a problem, select the issue type, describe it, and submit. Available types include general map issue, incorrect turn, incorrect address, incorrect route, missing roundabout, and missing road. Waze also describes an in-app Talk to report option, where you can describe what is on the road in everyday language. Waze Help: Report a map issue.

Apple Maps on iPhone: report a missing feature or other issue
Apple’s instructions are for Maps on iPhone. Start either way:
- Touch and hold the map until a pin appears, scroll to the bottom of its card, and tap Report Something Missing; or
- Tap your profile or initials beside search, choose Reports, then tap Report a New Issue.
Choose an issue type and follow the on-screen steps. Apple lists missing addresses, businesses, transit stops, and other features, as well as incorrect directions steps and businesses that have closed. These iPhone instructions should not be assumed to match every Apple device or software version. Apple Support: Report an issue with Maps on iPhone.
TomTom: use MapShare Reporter
For a consumer map correction, use TomTom MapShare Reporter: select the road or other map location, enter the correction details, and send the report. For a closed road, indicate whether the closure is temporary or permanent when prompted. TomTom Support: MapShare Reporter.

TomTom’s Map Feedback API is a separate integration tool, not the ordinary consumer reporting route. Its documentation says it can submit feedback and monitor issue status; access is not included in free evaluation or Pay As You Grow plans, and interested users must request access from sales. Give the provider a precise location and a concise description of both the problem and the correction. If the form offers a map pin or location selector, place it as accurately as possible. Useful details include:
- The road, address, or place name, plus nearby intersections or recognizable landmarks if needed to distinguish the location.
- What the map currently shows and what it should show instead.
- Whether a road is missing, has been removed, is incorrectly named, or is closed.
- Whether a closure is temporary or permanent, if known and relevant.
- For a place, whether the pin is misplaced, the listing is missing, or the business has closed.
Do not assume that every provider requires photographs, proof of ownership, or supporting documents. The cited instructions do not establish those as universal requirements; follow the fields and prompts in the service you are using.

Road closures and agency reports
Individuals and transportation agencies may use different reporting channels. A U.S. Department of Transportation report describes online tools for agencies to submit road-closure updates to Waze, HERE, and TomTom. That agency process is not evidence that every individual can report a closure to each provider through the same tool. U.S. Department of Transportation: agency road-closure tools.
HERE’s official error categories include missing or incorrect roads, roads that no longer exist, missing or incorrect addresses, missing or incorrectly located places, and closed places. Those categories clarify the kinds of errors it recognizes, but the cited material does not establish a general public consumer workflow. HERE documentation: map feedback error categories.

If you are unsure where to begin, GPS.gov provides a cross-provider starting point with links to reporting routes for Apple Maps, Google Maps, TomTom, and Waze. GPS.gov: Maps.
What happens after submission
A report does not guarantee that a provider will accept the suggested change, and the cited support pages do not give a dependable correction deadline. Waze specifically says a volunteer editor may request more information; the other cited instructions do not establish a universal follow-up process. Keep the description factual and specific, and check the map later rather than assuming the change has already appeared.
If you are in a vehicle, make the report only when safely stopped or ask a passenger to handle it. That is practical safety advice, not a reporting requirement stated by the providers.
