What’s actually slowing this PC down?

To report an impersonating account from Messenger on the web, open its conversation at messenger.com, then choose Options → Privacy & support → Report. Select Pretending to be someone, identify whom the account is impersonating, and complete the on-screen report. Meta says impersonating accounts are not allowed on Messenger.
Report the account on messenger.com
- Go to Meta’s Messenger Help Center instructions if you need to check the route, then open messenger.com and open the conversation with the suspected impersonator.
- In the conversation, select Options in the upper-right corner, then Privacy & support.
- Select Report, then choose Pretending to be someone.
- Choose the person the account is pretending to be and follow the on-screen prompts to submit. Meta’s indexed desktop instructions describe the final control as Done.
If you’re using the Messenger app
Meta’s Help Center lists Android, iPhone, and iPad help tabs, but its accessible instructions specify only the desktop-web route. In the app, open the conversation and use its current reporting controls; button names and steps may differ, so don’t assume the desktop labels match.

Report the place where the impersonation appears
A report from a Messenger conversation is for that Messenger instance. If the person is also impersonating someone through a Facebook profile, Page, or other Facebook content, report that instance separately using the Facebook Help Center. Messenger’s instructions link to Facebook Help for impersonation on Facebook; they do not say that a Messenger report automatically covers related Facebook content.

Meta says a notification appears in Support Inbox after a report, where you can check its status. After review, Meta says it will tell you whether the reported material did or did not violate its Community Standards. A report does not guarantee removal, and the cited guidance does not promise a specific review time for Messenger impersonation reports.

Meta says another review is usually available if it leaves reported content up, but that option is not available for some report types. These review details come from Meta’s general Facebook reporting guidance, so do not assume every Messenger report has the same options. See Meta’s explanation of reported-content decisions.
Block the account to limit contact
Blocking can reduce messages or other contact, but it is separate from reporting: Meta’s messaging guidance says you can block someone or report messages that seem like spam or make you uncomfortable. Blocking does not establish that Meta will remove the account.

Blocking also has limits. Some material from a blocked profile may remain visible—for example, messages in a group conversation shared with friends—and blocking one profile does not automatically block other profiles that person may create. See Meta’s guidance on content visible from blocked profiles and its messaging guidance.
