Report a response from the conversation
- Find the specific response you want to report.
- Click or tap the thumbs-down icon beneath that response.
- Choose Select an issue.
- Select Safety or Legal concern.
- Follow the prompts and provide the information requested.
OpenAI documents this route for ChatGPT on the web at chatgpt.com and in the iOS and Android apps. The labels or availability may vary by interface version, account, or region; if you do not see the control, use the content reporting form linked from OpenAI’s reporting instructions.

Choose the right reporting route
| Route | Use it for | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| In-product report | A particular ChatGPT response | Thumbs down beneath the response, then select an issue |
| Content reporting form | Reportable content when the in-product route is unavailable, or content on other supported surfaces | OpenAI’s content reporting article, which links to the form |

OpenAI’s reporting article also describes routes for shared links, GPT conversations and GPTs, ads, forums, and ChatGPT Sites. It says ChatGPT Sites do not currently have an in-product reporting option and directs users to the webform.
Contact Support about a malfunction or account problem
For a technical issue—such as ChatGPT repeatedly blocking a task you believe is allowed—open the Help Center chat bubble at the bottom-right of help.openai.com. Include details that help Support understand and reproduce the problem:

- A concise description and steps to reproduce it
- The date and time, including your time zone
- Relevant request or completion IDs, if available
- Your browser, operating system, and device
- The exact safety or policy message, if one appeared
OpenAI advises users not to include personal or sensitive data in support requests. Its Support contact guidance lists the information that can help with troubleshooting.

OpenAI says it reviews human reports of problematic ChatGPT content using a combination of automated systems and a trained team of experts. It also says its Model Quality team may review reported domains and other content and apply filters or other mitigations to reduce reliance on unreliable sources in future responses. These are descriptions of general review practices, not a promise of a particular decision or response time for an individual report.
