Use the TV’s built-in control button
Look along the lower edge of the television and around its rear or sides for a control button or joystick. Its placement and operation depend on the model. Use it to turn on the TV and try the available on-screen controls. Samsung cautions that the television’s own control has limited functionality and that some features or settings require a remote. Control the TV with SmartThings
Samsung’s SmartThings app can provide phone controls such as power, volume, channels, source selection, and menu navigation on compatible TVs. To use them, add the TV to the app and follow the on-screen pairing instructions. If you are setting up the TV for the first time, the app may not eliminate the need for a controller: the pairing flow may ask you to confirm a prompt on the TV or enter a PIN on certain models. Turn the TV on with its built-in control if needed, then follow the model-specific prompts. If you cannot complete pairing, use a compatible remote or the physical controls available on the set.
Choose a replacement or universal remote
A compatible Samsung replacement remote is a practical choice when you need dependable physical control or the TV’s panel buttons are not enough. Samsung support also describes universal and certain third-party remotes. Compatibility is not universal, so check the full TV model number against the remote’s compatibility information before buying. Can a keyboard or mouse work instead?
Possibly, but do not count on a USB keyboard or mouse replacing the remote. A Samsung e-manual lists these as input-device types, but that does not establish full remote functionality across all TV models.
