To reply to a video comment, open YouTube Studio’s Community area, find the comment under Published, and select Reply. On desktop, you can use search and filters to locate comments; in the Studio mobile app, open Community and tap View all.
Reply to a video comment on a computer
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Select Community from the left menu.
- Open Published to see public comments. If you need to find a particular comment, use the filter bar; desktop options include search and question and response-status filters.
- Select REPLY beneath the comment, enter your response, and submit it.
Reply in the YouTube Studio mobile app
- Open the YouTube Studio app and select Community from the bottom menu.
- Select View all. Published comments are shown by default.
- Tap Reply on the comment, write your response, and submit it. Use the response-status filter to view Unresponded, Responded, or New replies to your response.
The computer and mobile app both let you reply to video comments. Choose the desktop route if you want its documented search and question filters; on mobile, response-status filters help identify comments needing attention. See YouTube’s computer instructions and Studio app instructions.

Find a comment that is missing from Published
Check Held before assuming a comment has disappeared. Comments held by your settings or automatically identified as likely spam appear in the combined Held for review tab. YouTube says automatically held likely-spam comments may remain there for up to 60 days. From that area, you can approve or remove a comment, report it, or hide the user. Details are in YouTube’s held-comments guidance.
Reply to a comment on a Community post
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Content, then Posts.
- Open the post’s comments and select Reply beneath the comment.
- Type your response and select Reply to submit it. See YouTube’s instructions for managing post comments.
Why comment settings or reply controls may be unavailable
YouTube says comment settings cannot be changed when a channel or video is designated made for kids, when a video is private, or when the account is a supervised experience. Default comment settings apply to new videos and posts; changing them does not alter existing ones. These are common restrictions, not an exhaustive list of reasons a particular account or video might lack a control. See YouTube’s comment settings guidance.
