You can clean up a missed collectible or trophy in Stray without restarting the story. From the main menu, choose Start Game, select the save slot that contains your progress, choose Select Chapter, and replay the chapter with the missing item. Collect it, continue until the next autosave or checkpoint, then return to the menu and verify the result before moving on.
Chapter Select works on the completed save, and previously collected items remain recorded on that same slot. The only exception to a fully visible checklist is that Scratch Points and Nuzzles have no dedicated in-game tracker, so those require a manual list.

Can you replay Stray chapters after finishing the story?
Yes. Stray keeps Chapter Select available after the story, allowing you to revisit unlocked chapters for missed Memories, Badges, and other collectible or trophy requirements. You do not need to begin a completely new playthrough just because one item was overlooked.
Use the save slot that contains the progress you want to clean up. Chapter replay is most reliable when you collect the missing item on that slot, play far enough to trigger an autosave or checkpoint, and only then quit or choose another chapter. That checkpoint is the practical safeguard that writes the pickup to the save.

PowerPyx’s 2022 trophy and collectible guides describe Chapter Select as the normal cleanup route. A chapter replay is therefore preferable to a full story run when you already know where the gap is: it limits the work to one chapter and preserves the rest of your progress.
Exact procedure for replaying a chapter
Follow this sequence for every missing Memory, Badge, or chapter-based requirement:
- Return to the main menu. If you are still in a chapter, finish the current activity or use the pause menu to leave in the normal way so the game is not closed during an unsaved moment.
- Choose Start Game. Do not create a new slot unless you deliberately want a separate playthrough.
- Select the original save slot. Pick the slot that contains your completed or nearly completed story. Progress made on another slot is not combined with it.
- Choose Select Chapter. The chapter list displays the chapters unlocked on that save and shows how many Memories have been found in each one.
- Identify the chapter with the gap. Use the Memory count first. For other collectibles, compare your own notes with the chapter guide or the item you remember missing.
- Launch the chapter and collect the item. You can ignore collectibles already recorded on the same save; the purpose of the replay is to obtain the missing one.
- Continue to the next autosave or checkpoint. Do not quit immediately after the pickup. Reaching a save point is the important step that protects the updated collectible state.
- Return to the main menu and verify. Reopen Chapter Select and check that the Memory count changed, or confirm the Badge and trophy requirement through the relevant in-game indicator.
- Repeat for the next chapter. Work through the lowest-numbered chapter that still has a gap so your checklist stays ordered and easy to audit.
If a chapter contains several missed items, collect all of them in one visit when practical, but still reach a checkpoint before leaving. A single safe replay is faster than repeatedly entering the chapter and risking an unregistered pickup.

Replay the chapter on the same save slot rather than treating it as a replacement playthrough. Items already obtained remain associated with that slot, so cleanup normally requires only the entries you missed. Previously earned Badges can still appear as stickers on the cat’s harness while you are replaying an earlier chapter.
| Progress element | What happens during replay | How to verify it |
|---|---|---|
| Memories | Previously found Memories remain recorded; the chapter counter shows the found total and the remaining gap. | Open Select Chapter after reaching a checkpoint and check the chapter’s Memory count. |
| Badges | Earned Badges remain on the save and can be visible on the cat’s harness or backpack during an earlier chapter. | Inspect the backpack from both sides because the designs are not identical on each side. |
| Scratch Points | The game does not provide a dedicated completion counter. | Keep a manual chapter list and mark the qualifying scratch interaction after it is completed. |
| Nuzzles | The game does not provide a dedicated completion counter. | Record which robots you have nuzzled; do not rely on memory alone. |
| Sheet Music | After the relevant early-game inventory unlock, collected Sheet Music can be tracked in the inventory. | Use the inventory to identify what is already registered, then compare it with your chapter checklist. |
| Energy Drinks | After the relevant early-game inventory unlock, collected Energy Drinks can be tracked in the inventory. | Check the inventory before replaying a chapter so you do not search for an item you already have. |
| Trophy progress | Chapter Select can be used to finish missed collectible and chapter-based trophy requirements. | After the game registers the requirement, wait for the trophy notification or check the platform’s trophy list. |
The most important distinction is between a visible counter and a manual record. Memories are easy to audit from Chapter Select. Badges have a physical visual indicator, but you still need to inspect the backpack carefully. Scratch Points and Nuzzles have no equivalent checklist, making written notes essential.
How many collectibles are in Stray?
PowerPyx’s complete 2022 guide counts 67 collectibles across 12 chapters. The total is divided as follows:
Rank #2
- Run and gun or sneak and hack through Skynet's defences!
- Interact with a motley group of survivors and change their fates!
- Get under the skin of the iconic T-800 series Infiltrator and strike out against Resistance forces with the new INFILTRATOR MODE.
- Improved framerates, graphical fidelity, faster load times, and the new hardware features of the DualSense controller
| Collectible type | Total | Tracking method |
|---|---|---|
| B-12 Memories | 27 | Chapter Select reports the number found in each chapter. |
| Badges | 6 | Look for the Badge stickers on the cat’s backpack or harness; inspect both sides. |
| Scratch Points | 12 | One qualifying interaction per chapter; no dedicated tracker, so keep manual notes. |
| Nuzzles | 10 | No dedicated tracker; record each robot you have nuzzled. |
| Sheet Music items | 8 | Track them in the inventory after the applicable early-game unlock. |
| Energy Drinks | 4 | Track them in the inventory after the applicable early-game unlock. |
The figures add up to 67: 27 Memories, six Badges, 12 Scratch Points, 10 Nuzzles, eight Sheet Music items, and four Energy Drinks. The 12 Scratch Points correspond to one required interaction in each of the 12 chapters, not to 12 interchangeable actions in one location.

Memories
Memories are the simplest cleanup target because Chapter Select displays a per-chapter count. When a chapter shows fewer Memories than the guide’s total for that chapter, replay it and search only for the missing entries. After collecting one, continue to a checkpoint and recheck the counter. If the number has not changed, do not assume the item is safe; repeat the section and make sure the checkpoint has been reached.
Badges
Badges appear as stickers on the cat’s backpack. During replay, inspect both sides rather than checking only the most visible panel; the designs differ from one side to the other. If you are unsure whether a Badge was earned, compare the backpack’s current stickers with your own six-item list and use the chapter guide to identify its location.
Scratch Points
There are 12 Scratch Points in total, one qualifying scratch interaction per chapter. Because Stray does not supply a dedicated Scratch Point tracker, record the chapter number immediately after completing its interaction. A practical note might contain 12 rows, marked only after the scratch animation and interaction have finished. Do not mark a chapter merely because you remember seeing a scratchable surface; mark it when you have completed the qualifying action.
Nuzzles
There are 10 Nuzzles, and they also lack a dedicated in-game counter. Keep a list of the robots you have nuzzled, using a chapter guide to identify them. If you are cleaning up late in the game and cannot remember a particular robot, replay the relevant chapter and perform the interaction again, then reach a checkpoint before leaving.
Sheet Music and Energy Drinks
Sheet Music has eight items and Energy Drinks has four. The chapter guide notes that these become trackable in the inventory after the relevant early-game unlock. Check the inventory before launching a replay, then use the chapter list to isolate the item you still need. This avoids searching an entire chapter for something that is already registered.

A reliable trophy-cleanup workflow
Use this workflow when the goal is a complete trophy list rather than a single collectible:
- Finish or nearly finish the story on one primary save. Chapter Select is most useful when the chapters you need are unlocked on that slot.
- Create a master checklist. Separate the 27 Memories, six Badges, 12 Scratch Points, 10 Nuzzles, eight Sheet Music items, and four Energy Drinks. Give every entry a chapter number and a checkbox.
- Use Chapter Select counters to find Memory gaps. Start with the lowest-numbered chapter that is incomplete instead of jumping randomly between chapters.
- Use visual and inventory checks for the other categories. Inspect both sides of the backpack for Badges, check the inventory for Sheet Music and Energy Drinks, and consult your manual lists for Scratch Points and Nuzzles.
- Replay one chapter at a time. Collect all known missing items in that chapter before proceeding, provided doing so does not make you lose track of the checkpoint.
- Reach an autosave or checkpoint. This is the point at which the practical save-safety step is complete.
- Return to the menu and verify the state. Confirm the Memory counter, backpack sticker, inventory entry, or manual checklist entry before selecting another chapter.
- Check the trophy list after the final requirement. Chapter Select can satisfy missed trophy requirements, but the notification may appear only after the game has registered the relevant action or collectible.
PowerPyx advises replaying promptly when you notice a miss and checking that the collectible has counted after a checkpoint or restart. In practice, this means resolving a gap while you still remember which item was missing, rather than postponing every cleanup task until the end.
Chapter-by-chapter checklist template
A written checklist is especially useful for Scratch Points and Nuzzles, which have no dedicated counters. The following template covers all 12 chapters named in the complete collectible count without assuming chapter-specific totals:

Use “checkpoint verified” as a separate column, not as a substitute for the collectible check. An item can be physically collected and still need confirmation that the save registered it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which cleanup approach is best?
There are two practical approaches: replay only the chapters with gaps, or run through the entire story again. The right choice depends on how complete your records are.
| Approach | Time | Tracking reliability | Save safety | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single-chapter replay | Usually limited to the chapter containing the missing item. | High for Memories because Chapter Select shows a counter; moderate for Badges; dependent on manual notes for Scratch Points and Nuzzles. | Safe when you reach an autosave or checkpoint before quitting. | Known gaps on a mostly complete save. |
| Full story replay | Longest option because every chapter is played again. | Can be reliable if you keep a fresh checklist, but it repeats items already recorded. | Requires the same checkpoint discipline throughout the run. | A save with many unknown gaps or incomplete manual records. |
| New save slot | Requires a separate progression path from the beginning. | Starts with a clean record but does not merge with the original slot. | Separate from your completed save; mistakes do not repair the original slot. | A deliberate second playthrough, not ordinary cleanup. |
For most players, single-chapter replay is the efficient option. A full run makes sense only when you cannot determine which Memories, Badges, Scratch Points, or Nuzzles are missing and would rather rebuild the checklist from the start.

Save-safety rules that prevent lost pickups
- Stay on the correct slot. Chapter Select uses the progress associated with the save you choose after Start Game.
- Do not quit immediately after collecting. Continue until the next autosave or checkpoint.
- Verify before switching chapters. A changed Memory counter, visible Badge, updated inventory entry, or completed manual note gives you a concrete record.
- Do not assume a restart is proof of registration. Restarting after a checkpoint can help confirm a collectible, but the checkpoint itself is the key safeguard.
- Keep manual categories separate. Marking a chapter’s Memory complete does not prove that its Scratch Point or Nuzzle is complete.
- Use the lowest-numbered outstanding chapter as your next target. Ordered cleanup reduces the chance that you skip a chapter whose item is tracked only on paper.
Troubleshooting missed or apparently unregistered items
The Memory counter did not increase
First confirm that you launched the correct save slot and chapter. Then replay the pickup location and continue beyond it to the next checkpoint. Return to the menu, reopen Chapter Select, and check the counter again. If the number is still unchanged, treat the item as incomplete and repeat the sequence rather than relying on the momentary pickup animation.

A Badge is hard to identify
Inspect both sides of the cat’s backpack or harness. Badge designs differ by side, so looking at only one panel can make an earned Badge appear to be missing. Compare the visible stickers with your six-entry Badge list and use the chapter location to resolve any uncertainty.
You cannot tell whether a Scratch Point counted
There is no dedicated Scratch Point tracker. Check your manual chapter list and, if the entry is uncertain, replay the chapter’s qualifying interaction. Mark it only after completing the interaction and reaching a checkpoint.
You cannot tell whether a Nuzzle counted
Nuzzles also lack a dedicated counter. Identify the robot from your checklist, perform the interaction again during chapter replay, and save at a checkpoint. Recording the robot and chapter immediately is more dependable than trying to reconstruct the list later.
The trophy did not appear immediately
Make sure the underlying collectible or chapter requirement has been registered first. Verify the Memory counter, Badge sticker, inventory item, or manual action, then allow the game to reach a checkpoint. If the platform notification still does not appear, recheck the trophy’s remaining requirement and replay the relevant chapter rather than restarting the entire story.

A second save is optional, not a requirement for cleanup. Use one if you want an untouched completed file while experimenting with a fresh run, or if your original manual records are so incomplete that rebuilding every category is easier than auditing individual gaps. Keep in mind that progress is tied to each slot: a collectible earned on the new slot does not repair the checklist on the original one.
For ordinary cleanup, stay on the completed slot. It already has the unlocked chapters, the existing collectible history, and the Chapter Select counters that make a targeted replay possible.
Final checklist before declaring the game complete
- All 27 B-12 Memories are accounted for through the chapter counters.
- All six Badges are visible as stickers when both sides of the backpack are inspected.
- All 12 chapter Scratch Points are marked in your manual list.
- All 10 Nuzzles are marked in your manual list.
- All eight Sheet Music items are present in the inventory after its unlock.
- All four Energy Drinks are present in the inventory after its unlock.
- Every replayed chapter reached an autosave or checkpoint after its missing item was collected.
- The relevant trophy requirements have registered on the platform’s trophy list.
The dependable loop is simple: select the original save, open Chapter Select, replay the lowest-numbered chapter with a gap, collect the missing item, reach a checkpoint, verify the counter or checklist, and then continue. Chapter Select turns missed collectibles into short, auditable replays instead of forcing a complete restart.
