To replay every GTA V ending, finish one finale, then open Pause Menu > Game > Replay Mission and scroll to the bottom of the completed-mission list. You will find Something Sensible, The Time’s Come, and The Third Way (also called Deathwish). Select the endings you did not choose to watch and play them. Mission Replay shows the alternate mission and can record its medal, but it does not rewrite the ending stored in your active save. To make a different choice permanent, load a manual save from before Franklin’s decision or begin a new game.
Spoiler warning: the rest of this guide identifies all three choices and their consequences.

The three GTA V finale missions at a glance
Franklin receives three options at the end of Grand Theft Auto V. Each option launches a different finale mission. The choice made in the normal story determines which protagonists remain available in that save after the finale.

The Third Way is the only branch that leaves all three protagonists available for post-game activities in the same story save. A replay is therefore useful for seeing the other outcomes, while a pre-choice save is required if you want your ongoing world to follow a different branch.

How to replay all three endings
- Complete one finale in normal Story Mode. Finish the mission selected at Franklin’s final decision and allow the mission to reach its completion state. If you quit before the finale is recorded as completed, it may not appear in the replay list.
- Return to free roam or the pause screen. After the ending sequence and credits, continue until you can open the normal pause menu.
- Open the Game tab. In the pause menu, choose Game. The exact presentation can vary slightly between platform releases, but the relevant command is the Game menu’s mission-replay function.
- Select Replay Mission. This opens the list of story missions that have been completed in the current save.
- Scroll to the bottom of the list. The three finale entries are grouped at the end: Something Sensible, The Time’s Come, and The Third Way. They may not be near the mission where you made the original choice, so scrolling all the way down matters.
- Choose an ending. Select either of the two branches you did not play in the normal story. You can launch one, finish it, return to Story Mode, and then launch another.
- Resume the original save when finished. Exiting or completing a replay returns you to the original story timeline. If you want to preserve progress made before replaying, keep the normal save separate from any manual save you use for experimentation.
You do not need to restart the campaign merely to view the alternate cinematics and mission outcomes. Once one finale has been completed, the replay menu exposes all three finale missions, not only the branch originally selected.
What Mission Replay changes—and what it leaves alone
Replay is a separate mission context
Mission Replay loads a playable copy of the selected finale for viewing and scoring. It is not a second story decision applied to the save file. You can use it to pursue that mission’s medal requirements, but the replay does not become a new permanent branch of the campaign.
Your saved ending does not switch
If your active save selected Something Sensible, replaying The Third Way does not bring Trevor back into that save. Likewise, replaying The Time’s Come does not remove Michael from a save that chose a different branch. The replayed mission and the persistent story state are kept separate.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The finale payout is not duplicated
Playing an ending through Mission Replay is not a second completion of the finale in the campaign. Do not treat replay as a way to create another permanent payout or to rewrite the financial result recorded by the story save.

Replay cannot restore or remove a protagonist
A character removed by the ending stored in your save remains unavailable there even if you replay the branch in which that character survives. Conversely, replaying a killing branch does not remove a character from a save that chose The Third Way. Only a normal story completion from an appropriate save changes which protagonists are present in the persistent world.
How to make a different ending permanent
Use a manual save made before Franklin’s choice
The cleanest method is to load a manual save from before Franklin receives the three options. From that point:
- Load the pre-choice manual save rather than the post-finale save.
- Play forward until Franklin is offered the three finale options.
- Select the branch you want to keep in the story world.
- Complete the finale normally, including its ending sequence.
- Save the result in a separate slot so the original branch remains available for comparison.
The save must be from before the decision. A save created after the finale has already committed one branch cannot be converted simply by selecting another mission in Replay Mission.
If no pre-choice save exists
When there is no manual save from before the decision, making another ending permanent requires a new playthrough. Mission Replay can still show the other two outcomes immediately, but it cannot create the alternate branch in the existing campaign timeline.

Protect both versions
Use clearly separated manual-save slots for different branches. Keep the original completion untouched, then save a second branch only after completing it normally. This gives you a reliable way to return to each permanent world state without depending on the replay menu.
Choosing a branch for your post-game world
The practical difference between the endings is who remains available after the story is over. If you want to continue switching among all three protagonists for activities, exploration, and other Story Mode content, choose The Third Way in the normal campaign. The other two options permanently remove one protagonist from that save: Ending A removes Trevor, while Ending B removes Michael.
Replay is ideal when your priority is seeing the alternate narrative. A pre-choice save or a new game is the correct route when your priority is changing the characters and world state that persist after the finale.
Why an ending may not appear in Replay Mission
The finale was not fully completed
Replay entries are tied to completed missions. Return to Story Mode, finish the selected finale, and allow the game to reach its completion state before checking the list again.

You are looking in the wrong part of the list
The three finale missions are at the bottom of the completed-mission list. Scroll through the entire list instead of searching only around the last ordinary story mission you played.
The menu label differs on your release
Platform and edition layouts can vary slightly. Start in the pause menu’s Game section and look for the command named Replay Mission. The route is still the Game menu’s mission-replay function even when surrounding menu text or controller prompts look different.
You are checking the wrong save
Mission availability is associated with the completed story save you are using. Load the save that actually finished the finale, then open Pause Menu > Game > Replay Mission and scroll down again.

If a replay appears to have had no effect on the post-game world, that is normal. Replay is designed to show and score another mission, not to alter the persistent ending or restore a protagonist removed by the saved branch.

How to verify that you are replaying rather than committing a branch
- Before launching the mission, note which save you loaded and keep it unchanged.
- Confirm that you entered through Game > Replay Mission, not by loading a pre-choice save and playing the story normally.
- After the replay, return to Story Mode and check that the same protagonists and ending state are present.
- If you want a permanent change, stop using Replay Mission and follow the pre-choice-save procedure instead.
This distinction prevents the most common misunderstanding: seeing a different cinematic is not the same as committing a different finale to the campaign.
Can you see all three endings without restarting?
Yes. Complete any one finale, then use the replay menu to launch the other two. You only need a restart when you want one of those alternatives to become the permanent ending of the active story save and you do not have a manual save from before the final choice.
Does replaying an ending kill Trevor or Michael in your save?
No. The killing outcome applies only when that branch is completed normally from the story decision and saved as the campaign’s ending. Replaying a finale is temporary mission playback and does not remove a protagonist from a save that already contains a different outcome.
