Yes—completed Modern Warfare 4 campaign missions are reported as replayable from Mission Select, but the game’s save behavior is not officially documented. KeenGamer’s October 17, 2026 campaign walkthrough lists 16 missions and says completed missions remain available from Mission Select. Because no official Modern Warfare 4 documentation confirms Mission Select, chapter replay, or whether replaying changes saves, check the menu and your save or reward tracking on your platform before experimenting.
For the largest set of documented alternatives, replay mission 3, Following Orders. Its choices alter the immediate scenes, your character’s fate, collectible access and trophy eligibility, while the guides reviewed found no reported effect on later missions.

What is known about mission replay
KeenGamer’s campaign walkthrough, dated October 17, 2026, reports a 16-mission campaign and says that finishing missions leaves them replayable in Mission Select. The listed campaign order is shown below. The same walkthrough says each completed mission unlocks one Multiplayer/DMZ reward.

That is a reported campaign feature, not a promise that every platform exposes it identically. iTechGuides states that no official Modern Warfare 4 source it reviewed documents Mission Select, replaying completed missions, chapter selection or the way replaying affects saves. Treat the feature as something to verify in your own installation.

How to look for the replay menu
- Finish the campaign, or complete the mission you want to revisit.
- Return to the campaign’s main menu rather than immediately starting a new campaign.
- Look for a menu labeled Mission Select, Chapters, Replay or a similar entry. Labels can vary by platform and build.
- Select a completed mission and read any warning about campaign progress, collectibles, rewards or save slots before confirming.
- After the replay, return to the tracking screens and verify the mission completion, notes, contraband, trophies and Multiplayer/DMZ reward status.
If none of those entries appears, do not assume that starting the mission through Continue will create a replay. The available documentation does not establish an alternative chapter-replay path.
Does replaying overwrite your save?
There is no documented, official answer. The available guidance does not promise a separate replay save, a rollback to the earlier result or protection for your existing campaign state. A replay can therefore be useful for viewing a scene, but you should treat your current completion, collectible and reward records as potentially important until the game shows how it handles them.
Save-safety checklist
- Record which missions, notes, contraband, trophies and rewards are already marked complete.
- Use an available manual or backup save before replaying, but only if your platform and edition provide that option.
- Do not delete the original campaign slot to make room for a replay.
- Read every confirmation dialog for wording about progress, checkpoints, collectibles or rewards.
- After finishing, exit to the menu and inspect the same tracking screens you recorded before the replay.
These precautions are practical risk management, not evidence that the game definitely overwrites a save. If your installation offers no warning or backup facility, the safest conclusion is simply that the save behavior remains unconfirmed.
Following Orders: all documented choices
Following Orders is mission 3. You play a North Korean soldier searching village homes for a defector. Its mission header lists four notes, four contraband items, a Double XP Token reward and two trophies. The choices below change what happens inside this mission. The guides reviewed found no reported branch that changes a later mission.
First-house interrogation
The first house contains the initial interrogation. All three documented approaches lead to the same abandoned-house location, but they differ in how the information is obtained and whether No Harm Done remains possible.

| Choice | Immediate result | No Harm Done |
|---|---|---|
| Talk using evidence or contraband | The husband gives the defector’s location without anyone being hurt. | Eligible. This is the safest route. |
| Threaten | He still reveals the abandoned-house location. The civilians are not physically harmed. | The documented outcome does not describe civilian injury, but the guide recommends the evidence-and-talk route for a clean run. |
| Shoot him | He gives up the location after being wounded. | Lost; shooting him prevents the trophy. |
To protect the trophy on a first attempt, search for evidence and contraband before speaking, then choose the nonviolent talk option. The three routes converge, so changing this decision is primarily a way to view a different interrogation scene or to test trophy eligibility.
The barrel scene
At the barrel, you can pull the soldier away and let the villager go, leave the abuse happening, or shoot the villager yourself. The documented guide found no lasting effect from any of the three choices, and Ko sends you to the abandoned house either way. Shooting the villager is incompatible with a no-harm playthrough; pulling the soldier away is the clearest nonviolent choice.
The woman hidden under the kitchen
Search the kitchen carefully. A woman is hidden beneath the floor.
| Choice | What happens | Collectible and survival effect |
|---|---|---|
| Bring her outside | She joins the other villagers. | Required for your character to survive the later execution scene and allows access to the final cellar note needed for No Stone Unturned. |
| Leave her hidden | Soldiers find her. Ri decides you failed to search or lied and hangs your character beside the defector. | Produces a different ending cutscene, not a mission failure. The guides found no effect beyond this mission. |
Leaving her hidden is therefore the deliberate route for viewing the hanging outcome. It is not a shortcut to a different campaign branch, because no later-mission consequence was reported.
The gallows decision
At the gallows, the two choices determine the final fate shown in this mission.

| Choice | Immediate result | Later effect reported |
|---|---|---|
| Execute the defector | The defector is hanged. If you previously brought the woman outside, your character survives. | None beyond the mission was reported. |
| Refuse | Ri kills your character, and the defector is hanged anyway. | The mission proceeds into the next cutscene. No trophy or later-mission effect was reported. |
For the survival version of the scene, bring the woman outside and then execute the defector. For the refusal ending, choose refuse regardless of the woman’s earlier outcome; replay the mission if you want to compare the cutscene without changing your main campaign attempt.

No Harm Done
No Harm Done requires obtaining the defector’s location without hurting civilians. A reliable documented route is:
- Search the first house for evidence and contraband.
- Use the evidence-based talk option with the husband.
- Do not shoot him, the villager or any other civilian. Pull the soldier away at the barrel instead of shooting the villager.
- At later choices, keep the route nonviolent. Bringing the hidden woman outside is compatible with the trophy and also protects your character at the gallows.
The guides specifically recommend finding evidence first and choosing talk rather than threaten, grab or shoot. Although threatening is documented as leaving civilians physically unharmed, the evidence-and-talk option removes that ambiguity.
No Stone Unturned
No Stone Unturned requires confiscating all four contraband items and reading all four notes in Following Orders. The documented locations and route details are:
- In the first house, inspect the MP3 player, western novel and extra rations.
- Open the red lockbox for the heart medicine. The run-checked lockbox code is 214.
- In the third house, take the key from the wall hook.
- Use the key to open the kitchen-floor hatch and reach the cellar note. Bringing the hidden woman outside is what lets you access this final note.
Use the mission’s own collectible counter to confirm four notes and four contraband before leaving. Because the guides describe four of each, a counter below 4 means the run is incomplete even if the story objective has advanced.

A practical replay plan for every documented outcome
The fastest way to see the meaningful variations is to separate a trophy-and-collectible run from the deliberately harmful or fatal branches. Each run begins from the replay entry for Following Orders, if that entry is present on your platform.
Run 1: complete the clean route
- Gather the evidence, contraband and notes as you move through the houses.
- Enter 214 at the red lockbox and take the heart medicine.
- Use evidence and talk in the first-house interrogation.
- Pull the soldier away at the barrel.
- Bring the woman out through the kitchen hatch, then collect the cellar note.
- Execute the defector at the gallows.
- Finish the mission and verify both trophy conditions, the 4-note counter, the 4-contraband counter and the Double XP Token reward.
This combines the documented requirements for No Harm Done, No Stone Unturned and the survival version of the gallows scene.
Run 2: view the woman-hidden ending
- Replay the mission after recording the clean run’s results.
- Repeat the early path until the kitchen.
- Leave the woman hidden instead of bringing her outside.
- Continue to the gallows and watch the soldiers discover her and hang your character.
This route sacrifices access to the final cellar note and the survival condition in that playthrough, but it shows the distinct ending cutscene.
Run 3: view the refusal ending
- Replay Following Orders again.
- At the gallows, choose Refuse.
- Watch Ri kill your character while the defector is hanged.
The mission continues through the next cutscene, so do not interpret the death as a failed load or a broken objective.
Run 4: compare interrogation and barrel variations
- Replay the mission and choose Threaten in the first house to see its alternate exchange.
- On another replay, shoot the husband to see the wounded interrogation and confirm why No Harm Done is unavailable on that run.
- Use the barrel choices to compare pulling the soldier away, leaving the abuse in progress and shooting the villager.
- Continue to the abandoned house and finish the mission; no later-mission branch has been reported for these changes.
Because the first-house routes all converge on the abandoned house and the barrel choices all send you onward, these variations do not require separate campaign campaigns. They do require separate replays if you want to see every scene without relying on an unconfirmed save-rewind system.

What the choices change—and what they do not
The documented effects fall into four categories:
- Immediate scenes: the interrogation, barrel encounter, woman-discovery sequence and gallows cutscene change according to your decisions.
- Playable character’s fate: bringing the woman outside and executing the defector lets your character survive; leaving her hidden or refusing at the gallows produces a death scene.
- Trophy and collectible eligibility: shooting civilians blocks No Harm Done, while bringing the woman outside enables the cellar note needed for No Stone Unturned.
- Progression beyond the mission: the researched guides found no effect on later missions. The campaign remains mostly linear, so replay is for alternate scenes, trophies, collectibles and rewards rather than separate story campaigns.
Do not treat a mission replay as a new branch of the whole campaign. The evidence supports local variations inside Following Orders, not persistent changes to subsequent chapters.
Campaign replay versus DMZ story objectives
Activision writer Daniel Noel described a separate DMZ feature in the PlayStation Blog: “Story Missions: Select and replay narrative objectives across Hajin for big rewards.” That statement confirms replayable narrative objectives in DMZ. It does not confirm a single-player Modern Warfare 4 Mission Select menu, campaign chapter replay or a particular save behavior. Keep the two systems separate when interpreting menu options or reward tracking.
If replay is missing or the game will not launch
If Mission Select, Chapters and Replay are absent after completing the campaign, the available documentation does not provide an official workaround. Check that you are in the campaign menu, that the mission is marked complete and that you are using the same platform profile and edition that recorded the completion. Do not assume a DMZ story-objective menu controls campaign replay.

Replay decision table
| Goal | Recommended choices in Following Orders | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Earn No Harm Done | Find evidence; talk; avoid shooting civilians; pull the soldier away. | Threaten is documented as non-injurious, but evidence-and-talk is the least ambiguous route. |
| Earn No Stone Unturned | Collect all four contraband and four notes; bring the woman outside for the cellar note. | Leaving her hidden removes access to the final cellar note in that run. |
| See the survival gallows scene | Bring the woman outside, then execute the defector. | You do not see the refusal death scene on that run. |
| See the woman-hidden ending | Leave her under the kitchen and continue. | Your character is hanged and the cellar-note route is lost for that run. |
| See the refusal ending | Choose Refuse at the gallows. | Ri kills your character; the defector is hanged anyway. |
| Compare every interrogation | Replay with talk, threaten and shoot. | Shooting the husband forfeits No Harm Done on that replay. |
The dependable approach is to finish the clean collectible run first, verify the counters and trophies, and then use separate replays for the alternate scenes. Since official save behavior is not documented, preserve any available save or profile state before testing a branch.
