What the iPhone Duo display layer is
This repair concerns the nano-textured cover layer above the iPhone Duo’s inner folding display—not an ordinary, generic screen protector. That supports saying the layer is replaceable; it does not establish that Apple tells customers to do the repair themselves, that every provider offers it, or that peeling it with generic tools is safe. The report is not a repair manual.
Why you should not improvise a DIY replacement
Apple’s description of a layered folding display is not a safe procedure for separating or fitting its cover layer. The available evidence does not establish Duo-specific customer instructions, a tool list, or an approved DIY method. Apple warns that untrained repairs, or screws and cowlings replaced improperly, may affect safety, damage the battery, cause overheating or result in injury. Do not transfer steps from another model: Apple’s Self Service Repair guidance says to consult the manual for the exact model and repair, while the located iPhone 17 repair manual is for a different phone. No iPhone Duo-specific public cover-layer manual was located.

Treat $19 as a dated report about the stated U.S. AppleCare+ context—not a universal fee or a guarantee of current eligibility. Confirm the present price and terms with Apple or a local provider before arranging service.
