To rename a Spotify playlist folder, open its menu and choose Rename. On mobile, use the folder’s three-dot menu; on desktop or the web player, right-click the folder. Renaming the folder changes its label, not the names of the playlists inside it.

Spotify announced on May 28, 2026, that playlist folders were available in its mobile app globally for all users. If you do not see Rename, update the app; if the option is still missing, rename the folder in the desktop app or web player instead. Spotify’s announcement

Rename a folder on desktop or in the web player

Open Your Library and locate the folder.

Right-click the folder.

Select Rename, enter the new name, and confirm or save.

Organize playlists with clear folder names
Choose labels that make a folder easy to recognize in your library. Spotify suggests grouping playlists by mood, activity, or genre; these are ideas, not required categories.

When a category grows, use nested folders to add subgroups. Spotify says folders and nested folders are supported, can be moved to another location, and folders created through supported clients show on all devices. Spotify Support: Playlist folders

Folder names and playlist names are different
A folder groups playlists; a playlist contains tracks. Use the folder’s menu to rename the folder. To rename a playlist, open that playlist’s own editing controls instead. Spotify documents playlist editing separately from folder management. Spotify Support: Create and edit playlists
Playlist covers are another separate feature: Spotify lets users customize covers for playlists they created, and advises that images should not violate copyright, trademark, or personal image rights.
