Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To remove your webcam background with NVIDIA Broadcast, open the app, select your camera under Camera, enable Background Removal, then choose Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast) as the camera in your meeting or streaming app. You need a supported NVIDIA RTX GPU and a compatible 64-bit Windows PC.
Check that your PC is compatible
NVIDIA’s listed requirements include a GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX, or higher GPU; at least 8 GB of RAM; a supported 64-bit Windows environment; NVIDIA driver version 570 or later; and internet access during installation. The installer downloads AI models for the GPU. Check NVIDIA’s current product and download page for the latest requirements, since app support can change.
NVIDIA’s product-page content has shown conflicting version numbers, so use the version currently offered on its live download page rather than relying on a version number from an older guide.
Remove your background in NVIDIA Broadcast
- Install and open NVIDIA Broadcast. Download it from NVIDIA’s official page and complete installation. Internet access is needed while the installer downloads its AI models.
- Choose your webcam. Open the Camera section and select the webcam you want Broadcast to process.
- Enable Background Removal. Turn on the effect in the Camera section. If you prefer a softened or designed background, Broadcast also offers Background Blur and Background Replacement.
- Select the virtual camera in your other app. In the video-call or streaming app’s camera settings, choose Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast), not the unprocessed webcam. NVIDIA explains that Broadcast creates virtual devices on Windows for other applications to use.
- Check the preview. Confirm that the app is showing the processed camera before you join a call or start streaming. If the other app was already open, reload its camera list or reselect the Broadcast camera.
Choose the effect that fits your call
- Background Removal: removes the visible background.
- Background Replacement: substitutes an image or other selected background.
- Background Blur: keeps the scene behind you indistinct rather than removing it.
There is no universally best option: check the preview with your camera and setup. NVIDIA presents these features as ways to customize a webcam feed without requiring a green screen, special webcam, or elaborate lighting. Those items are optional, not prerequisites stated for using the effects.

Select Broadcast in a meeting or streaming app
NVIDIA’s FAQ gives OBS Studio, Streamlabs, XSplit, Discord, Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Google Meet as examples of compatible applications. The exact camera-setting location varies by app, but look for its video, camera, or device settings and select Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast). If the device is missing, close and reopen the app or refresh its camera choices, then check the Broadcast preview.
Troubleshooting
- The Broadcast camera does not appear: Verify that Broadcast is installed and open, then reload the meeting or streaming app’s device list. Select Camera (NVIDIA Broadcast) rather than the physical webcam.
- The app shows the unprocessed camera: Check that Background Removal is enabled in Broadcast and that the other app is using the Broadcast virtual camera. Reselect the camera after changing the effect.
- Installation or effects are unavailable: Compare your GPU, Windows environment, RAM, and driver with NVIDIA’s current requirements. The listed minimum includes a supported RTX GPU; a system without one does not meet that stated requirement.
- The result does not look right: Check the app’s preview and try Background Blur or Background Replacement instead. Appearance can vary with the individual camera and setup; no particular edge quality or performance result is guaranteed.
Or let it run in the cloud
NVIDIA Broadcast processes a webcam feed on a compatible Windows PC.
