First work out whether you are seeing an air pocket or dust: gently push a small bubble with no visible speck toward the nearest edge; trapped dust usually needs the protector maker’s approved rework method or a replacement. Avoid sharp tools and force—Samsung’s published cleaning instructions cover preparation before installation, not lifting an installed protector on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra.
Identify what is under the protector
- Air pocket: There is no visible speck beneath the bubble. Gentle pressure toward an edge may move it out.
- Dust bubble: You can see a particle, or the bubble stays put. Samsung notes that remaining dust can make film bubbles more visible; pressing the bubble will not remove the particle.
- Designed center line: Some Samsung anti-reflective film has a two-part design and can show a center line after its blue release liner is removed. Samsung says this line may fade over a few days. It is not necessarily trapped dust, and that behavior does not mean every bubble will disappear.
The device is the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, model SM-X940, according to Samsung UK Support.

Try the low-risk fix for an air bubble
- Turn off the tablet and inspect the spot in good light. Look for a visible particle, a lifted edge, or damage to the protector.
- If there is no visible dust and the protector is intact, use a clean finger or soft squeegee to press gently from the bubble’s center toward the nearest edge. A generic installer instruction sheet describes moving bubbles to an edge; this is general guidance, not a procedure tested or approved specifically for the S12 Ultra.
- Stop if the bubble does not move with gentle pressure. Do not use a pin, blade, fingernail, or other sharp object, and do not press hard against the display. Avoid dragging possible grit across the screen.
What to do when dust is trapped underneath
Do not keep pushing a bubble that has a visible speck beneath it. Samsung’s cleaning advice says dust remaining on the screen can make bubbles prominent, and recommends a cloth and dust-removal sticker before applying film. Its cleaning guidance does not give a method for lifting an already installed S12 Ultra protector.

- Check the protector maker’s instructions before attempting to lift an edge. The Samsung tablet installation guide covers Tab S9/S9 FE products and describes cleaning before installation, then applying film with a squeegee. It is not an S12 Ultra-specific rework procedure.
- If the maker permits lifting, follow its dust-removal method. Keep fingers and loose lint away from the adhesive, and stop if the protector resists, creases, stretches, or starts peeling unevenly.
- If the adhesive has collected dust, the protector is damaged, or the particle cannot be removed without force, replacement may be more practical than further lifting.
Should you wait or replace the protector?
Wait-time advice depends on the product. ZAGG says some micro-bubbles under its InvisibleShield products may settle within 24–48 hours; bubbles that remain after 48 hours may indicate dust or debris, for which it directs customers toward replacement. This is ZAGG’s product-specific guidance, not a universal waiting rule for every film or glass protector.

If you need a replacement, verify that the listing explicitly names the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra or model SM-X940. The sources here do not establish a particular compatible product or SKU. Before installing any replacement, remove dust from the display using the new protector maker’s instructions. Samsung’s Tab S9/S9 FE kit lists items such as a microfiber cloth, dust-removal stickers, an alignment jig, and a squeegee; those examples do not establish what is included with an S12 Ultra kit.
