You can remove a saved payment method from PlayStation Account Management in a browser, on PS5 or PS4, or in the PlayStation App. Choose the instructions for the device you can access; removing the method on one device also removes it from the other devices linked to your account. This does not cancel an active subscription.
Remove a payment method in a web browser
- Sign in to PlayStation Account Management.
- Select Payment Method.
- Select Add Payment Method to display the saved methods.
- Choose the method you want to delete and select Remove.
Remove a payment method on PS5
- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts.
- Select Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Payment Methods.
- Choose the payment method, press the options button, and select Remove.
Remove a payment method on PS4
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and select Payment Methods.
- Choose the payment method and select Delete.
Remove a payment method in the PlayStation App
- Select the PlayStation Store icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the menu icon at the top right, then choose Payment Methods.
- Choose the payment method and select Remove.
What to know before removing a payment method
- Subscriptions keep running. Removing the saved method does not cancel an active subscription. If you want to stop recurring billing, cancel the subscription separately in your subscription settings. PlayStation Support explains the distinction.
- Child accounts cannot add payment methods. Sony says child accounts can make purchases using funds in the family manager’s wallet, subject to the spending limit. A family manager may need to manage the adult account’s payment method. Sony’s child-account guidance and regional payment information describe these account and wallet rules.
- Payment methods vary by region. If the available methods or prompts differ, check the PlayStation Store payment information for your account’s country or region.
- If your console was stolen, secure the account. Sony advises changing the sign-in method and removing all payment methods. See PlayStation Account & Security.
If PlayStation will not remove the payment method
Check that you are signed in to the account that holds the saved payment details and follow the matching device instructions above. If you still cannot add, remove, or use a payment method, contact PlayStation Support.
