Depending on your account’s Store region, other options—such as PayPal or selected digital wallets—may also be available. Check the payment methods shown for your account’s region before choosing.
Ways to pay without a credit card
PlayStation Store payment choices vary by country or region; there is no single list that applies everywhere. PlayStation’s US and UK pages show different methods, including gift cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App Pay, Paysafecard and certain mobile providers. Availability depends on the account’s Store region, and some services may require their own linked funding source.

| Method | How it works | Availability and considerations |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store gift card or wallet top-up voucher | Redeem the code to add funds to the PlayStation wallet, then use those funds at checkout. | PlayStation identifies gift cards as a wallet-funding option. The voucher must be compatible with the account’s country or region; check the specific listing and redemption terms. |
| PayPal | Choose PayPal at checkout if it is offered for the account’s Store region. | Listed on some regional PlayStation pages, not universally. PayPal may require a funding source under its own rules. |
| Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App Pay, Paysafecard or mobile provider | Select the method at checkout if PlayStation offers it for the account’s region. | These are examples from regional payment listings, not global guarantees. Provider requirements vary. |
PlayStation’s regional payment pages are the best place to check what is currently available for your account: US accepted payment methods and UK accepted payment methods. A payment provider’s own availability and requirements may also affect whether it works.

- Check the Store region tied to your PlayStation account. Voucher region and currency should match that account. PlayStation warns that a card from another country may not link; its US terms describe prepaid wallet value as country-specific. Read the code listing’s compatibility and redemption terms before buying.
- Buy a compatible PlayStation Store gift card or wallet top-up voucher. Confirm that it adds funds to the Store wallet and is valid for your account’s region.
- Redeem the code using the instructions provided for that voucher. PlayStation lists gift cards as a way to add funds to an adult account’s wallet. Check the voucher’s redemption instructions if the code does not work.
- Use the wallet balance at checkout. Wallet funds can pay for PlayStation Store purchases. If the balance is short, check which additional payment methods are available in your region before completing the purchase.
PlayStation explains wallet funding and purchases in its wallet top-up guidance. The applicable country-specific terms and the voucher’s own conditions matter, so do not assume that a code sold for one market will work in another.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
What to check before adding wallet funds
- Region match: Confirm the voucher country or region and currency match the account’s Store region. PlayStation’s transaction troubleshooting guidance suggests using another available payment method or a PlayStation Store voucher when card funding fails.
- Refunds and transfers: Under PlayStation’s US terms, wallet funds generally are non-refundable and non-transferable except where the law requires otherwise. The terms also state that wallet funds have no value outside PSN and can only be used for purchases through PSN Services or certain third-party services. Check the terms that apply in your location, and add only what you intend to use. See the US PlayStation Network Terms of Service.
- Provider requirements: A non-card payment option may still require a linked account or another funding source. The PlayStation payment listings establish availability examples, not provider-specific requirements or a universal fee comparison.
If the account belongs to a child
Child accounts cannot add their own payment methods or wallet funds. Purchases use the family manager’s wallet and are subject to a monthly spending limit; PlayStation says the initial limit is zero. The family manager must manage the wallet and spending limit. Check the wallet guidance and the family management instructions for the account’s region.

Which option should you choose?
- Choose a wallet voucher if you want to avoid entering a credit card and can find a voucher compatible with your account’s region.
- Choose a listed payment service if it appears for your Store region and you already meet that provider’s requirements.
- Check the regional payment list first if you are unsure what your account can use; US and UK options differ, and these pages do not establish a complete list for every country.
