Dismiss the prompt using the site’s controls
- Read the choices. If the site offers “Reject,” “Necessary only,” or another preference you want, select it. Use the site’s own interface rather than removing the overlay first.
- Confirm the result. Wait for the prompt to close and check that the page is visible before capturing. A click may open a settings panel or require an additional save/confirm action.
- Capture the page. Take the screenshot only after the consent interface has closed. The available guidance does not establish how a particular website stores or retains a choice.
For repeated screenshots, treat extensions cautiously
A Chrome Web Store listing for an extension called Cookie consent describes rejecting optional cookies on supported prompts and provides a separate cosmetic-cleanup control. Its listing warns that layouts vary, unfamiliar forms may still need a choice, and cosmetic hiding does not prove that a preference was saved: Cookie consent in the Chrome Web Store.
Before relying on any extension, check what it does on the target site: does it select a preference, or merely conceal the banner? A cosmetic hide can make a screenshot cleaner while leaving the underlying consent state unchanged. Extension behavior and store listings can also change; the listing is not an independent test of the extension.
Why cookie settings and clearing data are not popup-dismissal methods
Chrome’s third-party-cookie controls are separate from a website’s consent interface. Blocking third-party cookies may cause some sites to work unexpectedly, and it does not itself record a choice in a site’s consent form. See Chrome’s cookie and site-data guidance.

Deleting cookies can sign you out and remove saved preferences. If the site’s remembered consent was stored in a cookie, clearing it may make the prompt appear again rather than dismiss it. Chrome DevTools can show or delete cookies for an origin under Application > Storage > Cookies, but that is cookie-state inspection, not a universal banner-removal feature: Chrome DevTools: View and edit cookies.
