To reduce packet loss in Aion 2, first determine whether the loss is caused by NC’s service, your home Wi‑Fi or router, or the ISP route between you and the game. The most useful controlled test is to play over wired Ethernet, with household downloads and cloud sync paused, and compare the result with the original connection. If several devices fail together, investigate the home link or ISP; if only Aion 2 is affected, record times, region and server details and send them to NC support.
NC and the Steam listing specify a broadband Internet connection for both minimum and recommended configurations, but neither publishes an official latency, jitter or packet-loss target. That means a speed-test score alone cannot prove that your connection is suitable or identify where packets are being dropped.

What packet loss looks like in Aion 2
Packet loss occurs when data sent between your game client and the service never arrives or must be sent again. In a real-time game, the result is usually visible rather than expressed as an error message.

- Rubber-banding: your character appears to move backward, snap to a previous position or arrive at a location several seconds late.
- Delayed actions: attacks, movement or interactions appear to register after a pause, then occur together.
- Players freezing: other characters stop moving while the game continues briefly, followed by a sudden update.
- Disconnects: the session returns to a login screen or reports that the connection to the service was lost.
- Instance-specific trouble: the problem appears in one dungeon, battleground or other session but not during ordinary travel.
These symptoms can also come from high latency, unstable jitter, a congested route, client performance problems or a service incident. Treat them as clues, not proof of packet loss. A short, repeatable test on another connection is more useful than guessing from the animation alone.

What the official requirements do—and do not—tell you
The official Steam and NC listings require broadband Internet for both the minimum and recommended configurations. They do not state a minimum download or upload rate, maximum latency, acceptable jitter, or permitted packet-loss percentage. Consequently, no number can be presented as an official Aion 2 threshold.
The Steam listing identifies NC as the developer and publisher and gives 5 October 2026 as the release date. Service behavior can change after launch, so keep the date and your local time with every incident report. A connection that worked during one week may encounter a different ISP route or a maintenance event later.
Locate the loss before changing settings
Use the same four comparisons every time you test. They separate a wireless problem from an ISP route or a service-side problem.

| Comparison | What to record | What it suggests | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where | Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, router, ISP route or only the game | Loss that disappears on Ethernet points toward the local wireless path; loss that remains on every device may be farther upstream | Repeat the test with a controlled wired connection and route measurements |
| When | Constant, peak household usage, or a particular time of day | Peak-only failures are consistent with local or ISP congestion; continuous failures need broader investigation | Log exact start and end times in your local time zone |
| Where in the game | Every activity, one region/server, or one dungeon or PvP session | An instance-specific pattern may involve a particular service path rather than your whole Internet connection | Capture region, server and activity details for NC |
| Who else | One device or several phones, computers and consoles | Several devices failing together implicate the home link, router or ISP; one game alone narrows the focus | Run the same test on another device while the incident is occurring |
Step 1: Check for an NC maintenance or incident
Look for NC maintenance notices and incident announcements before changing your network. If the service is experiencing an outage, replacing a cable, changing DNS or reinstalling software cannot repair that event. Note the announcement time and whether it overlaps your disconnects.
If no incident is listed, continue with local tests. An unlisted problem is still possible, so keep timestamps even when the status page appears normal.

Step 2: Perform a wired-versus-Wi‑Fi test
Ethernet is the cleanest way to remove radio interference, distance and wireless channel contention from the experiment. A Cat6 Ethernet cable is a practical choice for connecting the gaming device to the router, but NC does not require Cat6 or any particular cable category.
- Connect the computer or console directly to the router with a known-good Ethernet cable. Avoid running through a wireless extender for this comparison.
- Turn off or disconnect Wi‑Fi on the test device so it cannot silently switch back to the wireless network.
- Start Aion 2 and reproduce the same activity in which the problem normally appears. Use the same region, server and approximate session length.
- Write down whether rubber-banding or disconnects occur, along with the start and end time.
- Reconnect through Wi‑Fi and repeat the same activity under similar household conditions.
If Ethernet is stable while Wi‑Fi is not, focus on wireless placement, interference, the access point and household radio usage. The reviewed connection guidance recommends wired connections and says that 5 GHz Wi‑Fi can reduce lag spikes; those are practical recommendations, not NC requirements or guarantees.

- Move the access point and gaming device closer together and reduce walls or large obstructions between them.
- Use the 5 GHz band when your device and router support it and the distance is short enough for a reliable signal.
- Keep the device away from sources of radio interference and avoid placing the router inside a cabinet.
- Give the gaming device a consistent network rather than switching between bands during a session.
- Retest after each change so you know which change affected the symptom.
Do not claim that a stronger Wi‑Fi signal proves the ISP is healthy. Wireless can be perfect while the upstream route is dropping packets, and a wired connection can still fail when the router or ISP is the cause.
Step 3: Remove household contention
Pause large downloads, game updates, cloud synchronization, video uploads, live streams and other high-bandwidth activity while reproducing the problem. Ask other users to stop similar transfers for one controlled session, then repeat with normal household use.
Record whether loss appears only when another activity is running. A peak-household pattern points toward local queueing or an access link under load; it does not by itself identify whether the router, modem or ISP is responsible. If your router exposes traffic or queue controls, change one setting at a time and keep a record of the original configuration so you can undo an unsuccessful change.

- The unique flat cable shape allows for a cleaner and safer installation. You can easily and seamlessly make the cable run along walls, follow edges & corners or even make it completely invisible by sliding it under a carpet.
Step 4: Check the home network and router
When both wired and wireless devices show trouble, inspect the common equipment.
- Confirm that the Ethernet link is seated firmly and that the router shows a normal Internet status.
- Restart the modem or gateway and router once, then wait for the Internet connection to return before launching the game. Treat this as a diagnostic reset, not a permanent fix.
- Check whether other devices lose access at the same moment. Note the exact time and which devices were affected.
- Look for a router event log showing link resets, repeated reconnects or an overloaded device, if your model provides one.
- Retest with one gaming device connected directly to the main router, bypassing a mesh satellite, extender, powerline adapter or additional switch where possible.
Do not factory-reset the router as a first response. A reset erases ISP credentials, wireless settings and port rules and can make evidence harder to preserve. Use a reset only when you have a documented recovery plan or your ISP instructs you to do so.
Step 5: Measure the path while the problem is happening
A speed test measures throughput to one test service. It does not prove that the route to Aion 2 is free of loss. Basic command-line tests can show whether your local gateway or a broader path is unstable. Run them only during a reproducible incident and save the output with its timestamp.
Windows
- Open Command Prompt by searching for
Command Promptin the Start menu. - Find your default gateway with
ipconfig. The gateway is usually the router address shown under the active adapter. - Test the local link with
ping -n 50 <gateway-address>. Replace the angle-bracket text with the address shown byipconfig. - Test a stable Internet destination with
ping -n 50 1.1.1.1. This checks reachability beyond your home network, not the Aion 2 service. - Run
tracert 1.1.1.1to record the route at that moment. - For a longer Windows path test, use
pathping 1.1.1.1and wait for it to finish. Save the output rather than interpreting one intermediate hop in isolation.
macOS and Linux
- Open Terminal and identify the gateway with
route -n get defaulton macOS orip routeon Linux. - Test that gateway with
ping -c 50 <gateway-address>. - Test an Internet destination with
ping -c 50 1.1.1.1. - Record the route with
traceroute 1.1.1.1. Some Linux installations usetracepath 1.1.1.1instead.
Replace the sample address only with a destination you are allowed to test. These commands do not contact Aion 2’s game servers, and a router or transit provider may de-prioritize or block diagnostic packets. A timeout at one hop is not conclusive if later hops respond. Look for loss that continues to subsequent hops and matches the timing of the in-game symptom.
Step 6: Compare devices, times and activities
Run the same controlled session on more than one device if possible. A phone or another computer can provide a quick comparison even if it cannot run the game.

- Several devices fail together: preserve the time window and investigate the router, modem or ISP.
- Only the gaming device fails: check its Ethernet or Wi‑Fi adapter, local background traffic and driver or operating-system events before blaming the service.
- Only Aion 2 fails while other real-time services remain stable: capture the game region, server, activity and exact timestamps for NC rather than assuming a general Internet outage.
- Only peak hours fail: repeat outside the busy period and during normal household use to distinguish local contention from an upstream congestion pattern.
- Only one dungeon, battleground or session fails: record that exact activity and whether a different region or server behaves differently.
Keep a simple log with date, local time zone, connection type, device, activity, region/server, other household usage and the result of each test. Consistent notes are more useful to support than a single screenshot.

Wi‑Fi or local radio instability
Use Ethernet for play when practical. Otherwise, apply the placement and 5 GHz checks above, keep the device on one band and retest without an extender. If the wired test is clean, the cable itself can become the permanent connection; a Cat6 cable is an ordinary, readily available option, not a performance guarantee.
Household congestion
Schedule large transfers outside play sessions, pause cloud synchronization and stop uploads while testing. If the symptom returns only when the household is busy, gather that pattern for your ISP or router documentation. Do not convert a temporary improvement into a claim that a particular bandwidth number is required; NC publishes no such number for Aion 2.
Router, modem or access-link faults
Use the direct-to-router wired test, inspect event logs and document reconnects. If every device loses service, contact the ISP with the times and the fact that both wired and wireless devices were affected. Keep the router’s model and firmware information available if the ISP asks for it.

NC service-side problem
If Ethernet, multiple devices and other household checks do not change an Aion 2-only problem, preserve region, server, activity and timing details for NC. An unlisted incident remains possible; support can correlate your country, ISP and start date with service telemetry.
Why DNS changes and VPNs are not universal fixes
DNS resolves names to addresses before a connection is established. Changing DNS can alter how a name resolves, but it does not repair packets already being lost on an active route. It should not be presented as a guaranteed packet-loss solution.
A VPN or other route-changing service may place traffic on a different path, which can help only when that alternate path avoids a specific routing problem. The reviewed connection guidance advises avoiding VPNs unless they are required because the extra routing can worsen latency. Test any route change against a direct connection and keep the comparison time, region and server the same. Never treat a paid routing product as proof that NC’s servers are defective.
Prepare an NC support report that can be investigated
NC’s support instruction says: “After basic troubleshooting, if you are still running into this issue, please provide the following details so we can investigate:” It explicitly asks for your current country, when the issue first started and your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Include those required details plus the evidence that makes your case reproducible:
- Current country and ISP.
- Date and approximate local time when the issue first began.
- Every later occurrence, with time zone.
- Aion 2 region and server, if shown in the client.
- Activity during the failure, such as open-world play, a dungeon or PvP.
- Whether Ethernet changed the symptom compared with Wi‑Fi.
- Whether other devices or services failed at the same time.
- Whether pausing downloads and cloud sync changed the result.
- Results from gateway and Internet path tests, including the command, destination and timestamp.
- Any maintenance or incident notice that overlapped the session.
Describe what happened rather than assigning blame: “rubber-banding began at 20:14 UTC on Ethernet in region X; two other devices remained online” is more actionable than “the servers are bad.” Do not include passwords, authentication codes or unrelated personal data.
A practical decision matrix
| Observed pattern | Most useful next test | Who should receive the evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Wi‑Fi fails, Ethernet is stable | Repeat with the device beside the access point, then use Ethernet or tune the wireless setup | Keep local notes; contact router support only if the wired path also fails |
| Ethernet and Wi‑Fi fail on one device | Test another device and inspect the gaming device’s local adapter and background traffic | Device or operating-system support if other devices remain stable |
| All devices fail together | Check router logs, gateway reachability and the modem or gateway status | ISP, with exact times and the wired test result |
| Only Aion 2 fails | Repeat in another activity or region when possible and preserve server and timestamp details | NC support, including country, start date and ISP |
| Failures occur only at busy household times | Repeat with all downloads, streams and sync paused, then with normal usage | Router or ISP, depending on whether the gateway itself shows loss |
What a successful diagnosis looks like
You have a useful diagnosis when changing one variable produces a repeatable result: Ethernet removes the symptom, pausing household traffic removes it, every device fails during the same ISP window, or only one Aion 2 activity and region reproduces it. If no controlled change alters the behavior, keep the log and escalate rather than cycling through random DNS, VPN and router settings.
