The picture keeps the same pixel dimensions, but lower bitrate can reduce visible detail or introduce compression artifacts. For a 24/7 YouTube stream, check that the resulting file and your playback-to-ingest setup meet YouTube’s current requirements, then test the stream before relying on it.
Resolution and bitrate control different things
Resolution is the frame’s pixel dimensions, such as 1920 × 1080. Bitrate is the amount of encoded data used over time. Lowering the bitrate can reduce file size while preserving those dimensions; it does not preserve the original image quality automatically.

Changing the codec can also affect size, but changing a codec or container alone does not guarantee a smaller file. The result depends on the encoder, content, bitrate and quality target. A different codec must also be supported by the playback and streaming path as well as YouTube’s ingest settings.
Estimate the file size you need
Use the total bitrate and video duration for a rough estimate:
#1 Best Overall
- 【Hardware H.265/H.264 Encoding at 1080P60】Dedicated hardware encoder delivers broadcast-quality 1080P60 streams with H.265/H.264 compression. Reduces bandwidth usage by up to 50% compared to legacy H.264-only solutions, while maintaining crisp, crystal-clear video output.
- 【Broad Protocol Support for IP Distribution】 Supports SRT, RTMP(S), RTSP, UDP, HTTP, HLS, WebRTC, TRTC, Icecast and SHOUTcast — integrate seamlessly with CDNs, surveillance NVRs, IPTV systems and browser-based monitoring dashboards. One device replaces multiple single-purpose streaming boxes.
- 【Browser-Based Setup in Minutes】 Set up in minutes through any browser — no software, drivers or OS compatibility issues. DHCP is enabled by default to prevent IP address conflicts on your network. Note: basic networking knowledge (IP address, RTSP/RTMP configuration) is recommended for advanced streaming setups.
- 【Compact Design with Flexible Deployment】Palm-sized form factor (approx. 90×54×29mm) fits easily behind monitors, on shelves, or in equipment racks. Low power consumption ensures reliable 24/7 operation for live events, remote monitoring, and digital signage.
- 【Professional Audio & OSD Overlay + 1-Year Warranty】 Supports HDMI embedded audio plus external 3.5mm input. Built-in OSD generator adds scrolling text, logos, or timestamps directly to the video stream — ideal for branding, event info, or security labeling. Backed by a 1-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support.
Approximate file size in bytes = (video bitrate + audio bitrate) × duration in seconds ÷ 8.
For example, at a combined 5,000,000 bits per second for one hour: 5,000,000 × 3,600 ÷ 8 = 2,250,000,000 bytes, or roughly 2.25 GB in decimal units. The actual MP4 will be somewhat larger because of container overhead. This calculation estimates storage, not visual quality.

Reduce the file size without resizing it
1. Record the source settings
Before encoding, note the MP4’s width and height, frame rate, video and audio codecs, duration, and current bitrate. This gives you a baseline and helps you catch accidental changes in output.

2. Keep the output dimensions unchanged
In your video editor or encoder, set output width and height to match the source exactly. Do not select a resize, downscale or “fit to” option. To make the file smaller, lower the video bitrate or use a more efficient codec only if every part of your playback-to-YouTube path supports it.

- REPLACEMENT PARTS: Encoder mounting bracket, used to replace old or damaged brackets to ensure good and stable of the machine.
- METAL STRUCTURE: Using excellent metal materials, which has stable structure and high hardness, good wear and long service life.
- STANDARD SIZE: has a standard 21mm hole diameter, suitable for standard size encoders, installation and replacement is fast.
- GOOD STABILITY: The encoder mounting bracket has a compact structure, strong supporting force, stable and reliable, with good practicability.
- GLOSSY bracket has glossy appearance, no burrs and no gaps, and will your hands or scratch other parts during use.
3. Compare a lower-bitrate encode
Make a test output rather than replacing your original. Compare the source and output at the same display size, paying particular attention to movement, fine detail and gradients, where compression damage can be noticeable. Listen to the audio as well. Lower the bitrate in measured steps until the size and quality are acceptable; there is no single bitrate that suits every video.
4. Confirm YouTube’s current ingest settings
YouTube’s live encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS; H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and frame rates up to 60 fps. It specifies constant-bitrate encoding and recommends a 2-second keyframe interval, not exceeding 4 seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps. The recommended video bitrate depends on codec, resolution and frame rate, so consult the current table for the account and region you are using rather than treating one target as universal. YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance was checked on October 4, 2026.

- High accuracy size spring bracket.
- High quality aluminum alloy polishing treatment
- Encoder bracket have Very good shock resistance and pressure resistance
- Rotary encoder holder widely used in banding cutting packing machine
5. Check upload capacity and test the live path
The outgoing stream’s total bitrate, including audio, must fit within the available upload bandwidth, with capacity left for other network traffic. YouTube notes that the total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends testing before going live; use representative motion and audio, then review stream health and error messages. YouTube identifies unsupported codecs and bitrate mismatch among possible streaming issues. See its live stream error guidance and streaming tips.

What to validate for a 24/7 stream
A smaller MP4 can reduce storage use and the bitrate needed to send the stream, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted playback. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not promise 24/7 looping for a particular file. Continuity also depends on the playback or encoder software, host power, network and recovery behavior.
