There is no single best chatbot for every livestream. Start by checking that a bot supports your streaming platform, then compare the moderation, commands, engagement features, setup and permissions you actually need. Keep the platform’s own moderation tools and human moderators in your plan: a chatbot can help, but it is not a complete moderation system.
Choose by platform first
A bot is useful only if it works where your audience is watching. StreamElements documents chatbot support for Twitch and YouTube Live. Streamlabs documents Cloudbot setup for Twitch, Kick and YouTube. Check the provider’s current setup guide for the exact platform and account requirements before committing, especially if you stream to more than one service.

Shortlist the options by fit
StreamElements Chatbot
Consider it if you stream on Twitch or YouTube Live and want documented support for custom commands, automated timers, spam filters and interactive modules. If you use YouTube, account for its documented feature limitations: some features tied to the loyalty system—including giveaways, stream store, viewer queue and media requests—are not currently available for YouTube accounts.
Streamlabs Cloudbot
Consider it if a cloud-based setup and features such as moderation, loyalty points, games and custom commands match your needs. Streamlabs describes Cloudbot as easier to set up than its standalone Chatbot; this reflects the vendor’s own product comparison, not an independent assessment of ease or reliability.

YouTube’s built-in moderation
Use native controls alongside any third-party bot, not as an either-or choice. YouTube documents moderator roles, blocked words, held potentially inappropriate messages, slow mode and subscriber or member chat options. Held-message filtering can reduce the load on moderators, but YouTube cautions that it is imperfect.
Check YouTube setup and moderation details
StreamElements on YouTube
According to StreamElements’ YouTube setup guide, the stream must be public and live for the bot to join, and the StreamElements channel must be added as a moderator. The guide also notes that YouTube’s “Top chat” may hide bot messages; its instructions advise viewing “Live chat” when checking them. Verify these requirements in the current guide before going live, since integrations can change.

Streamlabs Cloudbot permissions

Follow the instructions for your platform; granting the required role is a setup prerequisite, not proof of independent reliability.

YouTube’s held-message settings
YouTube’s automatic moderation setting ranges from None to Basic to Strict. Strict holds a broader range of potentially inappropriate messages. A channel owner or managing moderator must change automatic moderation settings. YouTube’s guidance says, “No system is perfect, but this feature can make it easier for you to moderate live chat messages on your live stream.” That caution refers to holding potentially inappropriate messages, not to a guarantee that the whole chat will be moderated safely.

Run a rehearsal before relying on the bot
- Confirm platform and role. Use the current vendor guide to check platform support and grant the required moderator permissions. For StreamElements on YouTube, confirm the stream is public and live when the bot is expected to join.
- Test the commands viewers need. Try your recurring information commands and any links or stream details you plan to provide. Check that the response appears correctly to viewers.
- Check timers and filters. Confirm automated messages appear when expected and that moderation rules behave as you intend. Do not assume a filter will catch every unwanted message.
- Verify the chat view. On YouTube, check “Live chat” rather than relying only on “Top chat,” which may hide bot messages according to StreamElements’ guide.
- Keep a human fallback. Arrange for a moderator to watch chat and use YouTube’s native controls where relevant. A bot should not be the only response plan for an active event.
Keep the video stream and the chat bot separate
A chatbot automates or moderates chat; it does not keep a recorded video looping as a YouTube live stream. If you also need a pre-recorded YouTube channel stream to continue when your computer is off, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not provide chatbot functionality, and it streams to YouTube only.
Or let it run in the cloud
Upload your video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, then go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
